Rei, owned by Mogami Saiorse, owned by Coyote Sparrow
Mogami Rei rose from his rather comfortable spot in a little makeshift den made out of the lowest branches of a tree that touched the ground where he’d spent the night, cushioned and content. The orange lion stretched his body long and hard, flexing just about every muscle in his body as he yawned quite loudly, apparently unconcerned over his surroundings. He had rested well and apart from a small group of hyenas that moved quickly past his spot, cackling and sniffing the air warily, nothing had really disturbed him during the whole night.
But it was morning now and the lion needed to move on if he was to ever reach the lands of his ancestors. He’d never been particularly patient so even though he had just started his journey, Rei felt restless - as he usually did when the orange lion tried to stay in one place for too long. A part of him feared he would reach the Pridelands and leave right after because of this but he hoped something would keep him there.
CoyoteSparrow Saiorse gave a massive roar as the impala fell still in the grasses before her. Oh, how things had changed. She was far from the little female, too timid to take on the larger game. Her wounds had healed, and now she knew very well that she could take on even the water buffalo. The lioness let out another roar, daring any such creature to come even near her kill. She had power in her limbs, and strength in her jaws. Saiorse was not the little lilly they had raised her to be. She was a lioness, and no one would tell her otherwise ever again.
After a moment, she was satisfied, and the lioness settled down to her kill. She swallowed the best parts whole, not daintily as she might have. All of her, every action, was a rebellion against years of being told to be. Told to be clean. Told to be quiet. Told to be a wife. This was her chance to even the balance of things, and take back the years of freedom she felt that she had been denied. This was her life, and no one would tell her different.
Mogami Rei’s head turned quickly towards the sound of a roar. A powerful one filled with confrontational energy but from a female, the orange lion believed. It was… interesting. And closer than he had expected anyone to be. The lion sniffed the air curiously before finally making a decision. Company was usually good and perhaps he’d even get some reliable information that would point him in the direction of the Pridelands. So he moved forward scanning the area for life.
Ah, it was indeed a female… and she had a kill. Well, that could complicate things. If rogue girls were sometimes a little jumpy around males, they could be even more anxious (if not downright vicious) when they had a meal to protect. But he wouldn’t know it until he tried, right? Rei stepped closer to the lioness, admiring the strong pink on her back. She looked rather pretty which instantly caused the male to shake his mane into a more composed appearance.
“Hey there. Nice catch.” He stopped a lot further then what was considered a respectful distance and sat down - he truly didn’t want to frighten the poor girl.
CoyoteSparrow Saiorse gave the orange lion a long look, a growl readily bubbling in her chest. The lion was a strange one, a lion she had not met before. It was enough to set her on edge. The lioness willed a breath to pull itself into her lungs, and willed it to leave. There was no reason to be quite so hostile toward the male.. Was there? Saiorse closed her eyes, and, after a moment, calmed herself. "...Hunting has always been one of my most favorite things."
Mogami Rei smiled widely, happily surprised by the female’s reaction. Apart from the initial growl, the pink girl looked friendly enough and actually willing to talk with him while she caught her breath.
“You seem pretty good at it, too. I couldn’t tell you were in the area until you roared.” He said pleasantly but he’d rather keep the subject away from hunting and her kill altogether. He had no desire in being chased away because of a kill he wasn’t even interested in. “I’m afraid I don’t share the feeling though, it’s more of a necessity for me.”
“I’m Rei. I left my home recently to look for a pride.” He added after a brief pause, just to let her know he was on the move and not really planning on sticking around until he had outlived his welcome.
CoyoteSparrow Saiorse gave a nod. The male, in truth, didn't seem all that bad. He stayed appropriately away from her kill. A smile gave way to her expression, a mischief in her eyes as he mentioned his lackluster for the hunt. That was something she couldn't quite understand. but perhaps not all lions knew what it was like when the hunt had been the only freedom you were granted.
"My name is Saiorse. I suppose you could say that I left home to find myself." The lioness seemed rather amused with her answer, it left just enough to the imagination. The a slight smile touched her expression. It faintly tugged at the corners of her mouth, and creased the corners of her eyes. This male wasn't quite like the ones she had known growing up. He seemed.. Almost put on edge, the more she was on edge. She liked that, through some odd reasoning or another, but she still did not quite understand it.
Mogami “Ah, similar circumstances then.” Rei nodded, unaware that he couldn’t be possibly further from the truth but her amused expression did make him wonder if he’d said something funny or if he’d missed something. Well, at least he’d gotten her name. He grinned in return, mirroring some of the mischief in the lioness’ expression.
“A pleasure to meet you. I assume you don’t know that much about the rogue lands, do you? I was wondering if I’m going in the right direction…” the orange lion looked around, trying to remember all the information he’d received from his mother before continuing. “You wouldn’t happen to know where the Pridelands are, would you?”

Saiorse thought for a moment before giving a shrug. "Pridelands?"She paused, tail twitching thoughtfully. "I think I heard something about them splitting, but I don't really know anything about them so I'm prolly wrong. I do know there's a pride a little to the south." The lioness thought for another moment, a spark of curiosity beginning in her vivid eyes. "So that's who you're looking for, hm? ...Why?" She was curious as to why he'd be searching out a pride. He couldn't have any prevailant ties there, or he'd know where it was. Perhaps he was going to stir up some trouble? Unlikely. Something about Rei told her that he would not quite be the trouble making type. So where did that leave him? "There has to be something interesting about it, otherwise you wouldn't be seeking it out. Am I right?" The lioness had stat where she stood, realizing she had almost all but forgotten about her kill. She had been raised a certain way, a way that said it was impolite to eat before a male. Saiorse split the belly of her kill, unabashedly beginning her meal. It did fell a bit odd, regardless. Who knew when the last time the lion had eaten was? She looked up, studying the male with another almost grumpy expression, thinking to herself before giving a shrug, as if she'd finally given up on some internal debate. "You hungry?"

CoyoteSparrow A funny note: Rei is already in the Pridelands and he fathered two litters there... as well as two others outside... ^.^' And he looks a little different now! xD Rei grinned, realizing this was the first time that someone had actually bothered to ask him why he was looking for a specific pride. Many had been friendly enough to talk to him and give him directions but no one had cared enough to know the reason behind his quest.
“It’s the land of my ancestors.” He told the lioness, a hint of excitement slipping into his voice. “It’s supposed to be huge and really beautiful. My mother used to tell me stories of all the past kings. There’s a giant rock in the middle of it and you can see all the pride from there.” He worried that she’d stopped eating because of him but he knew from experience how difficult it was to eat while having a conversation. He was relieved when she turned to the kill again but shook his head at her last question.
“No, not really. But thank you for the offer.” It had been an offer, right? Rei wasn’t quite sure but he hadn’t missed the signs of her internal debate. He’d just woken up and, honestly, he wouldn’t mind eating something but he’d rather it being something he’d caught himself. He feared the lioness would think he’d only approached her for her kill if he’d accepted her kindness. “Are you part of a pride or a fellow wanderer?” Hum… maybe he should stop asking questions and just let the poor girl eat.

Mogami ((He looks great! Saiorse has a pride now, even if it is unofficial X3 Hopefully it'll be official soon! I suppose we should continue this rp as if it's in the past though, right?)) The lioness gave a small smile. "It certainly sounds like a beautiful place." It was refreshing to see such excitement, almost cublike. She liked this male, his honesty, and couldn't help but find the way he talked about his home endearing. "I wish that I could speak of my home as highly," She gave another shrug. "I suppose it wasn't meant to be." The lioness thought for a moment. There was a pride she had met to the south, a lively bunch to say the least. It was a place she could see herself staying.. "I don't exactly have a pride, but I don't think you could really call me a wanderer anymore..." A misgevious smile tugged at her lips. "I suppose I'm neither here, nor there." The light statement was one that played on a subject that she had thought on quite often. With no pride, things were dangerous, and living was hard--not to mention that without one there really was no place she could call home. Still, she liked her freedom, and was loathe to give it up so quickly. "You could say that I'm just not ready to settle down just yet. In the future, perhaps."

CoyoteSparrow Ah yes, definitely. This is all before Rei had his first litter. He didn't know he was going to fall for one of those Pridelander girls. XD “There is so much to see, I don’t really think I’m ready to give it up either.” Rei said in agreement. “In the future, yes. Maybe. A distant future.” The orange lion chuckled looking around and taking a cheerful deep breath as he were absorbing freedom itself. He then looked down at the carcass and back at the lioness. It was time to go catch a meal of his own, he figured.
“Well, then. I’ll be on my way now and let you enjoy the rest of your meal in peace.” Rei said with grin as he started to turn slowly. “It was pleasure meeting you, Saiorse.”

Mogami That's awesome! It's so fun to see how far they've come ^^ Saiorse gave a nod, swallowing another sizeable chunk of meat. "Nice meeting you too." There wasn't much enthusiasm to her tone, but the gruff little thing never was terribly nice. She had so much to figure out, so much to plan.. Where did she go from here? The lioness gave her head a shake, swatting the flies away from her kill. There was no doubt that both of them had much, much more in store for them in life, but time would only tell.

Rei nodded, just a little disappointed that the lioness hadn’t insisted on him staying for a bit longer. You never knew how long it would take to find another friendly creature out her in the rogue lands, after all. One could spend days without talking to anyone and that was somewhat draining for the naturally social lion.
He turned to leave, a slight bounce to his steps. On to the next adventure!
