Depression is a medical condition, not a feeling.
Despair is the right word me thinks.

I'm pretty sure you can still feel depressed, or use it instead of naming all of the emotional symptoms.

But, to the OP, why are you feeling bad?

Sink your teeth into forever...

DepressED is another word for feeling sad, AND also the medical condition....
DepressION is the medical condition with no other use for the word...
Despair wouldn't really fit right here to be honest...

Anyway, What do you think is causing your sadness?? Maybe it's just some girl thing... I know one of my friends sometimes randomly starts feeling sad, and she's really confused about it.. so if you don't know, it could just be some hormonal girl thing...
Or, if you do know, why? knowing why is a better way to get advice on feeling better (:

Suppose we're both a bit right, but depressed is an adjective for one who is clinically suffering from depression. Like me for example.

Oxford Dictionaries:
depression
…severe, typically prolonged, feelings of despondency and dejection…

depressed (de|pressed)
adjective
1 (of a person) in a state of unhappiness or despondency. (of a person) suffering from clinical depression.

2 (of a place or economic activity) suffering the damaging effects of a lack of demand or employment:
depressed inner-city areas

3 (of an object or part of an object) in a lower position , having been pushed down:
a depressed fracture of the skull

despair (des|pair)
noun
[mass noun]
the complete loss or absence of hope:
a voice full of self-hatred and despair
in despair, I hit the bottle

verb
lose or be without hope:
we should not despair

Look at what I bolded... as you can see, both are different things.
The one bolded in "Depressed" fits what she is feeling. the one in "Despair" doesn't... she's feeling sad, not without hope or self-hatred....

Did the "Of a person suffering from from clinical depression" elude your gaze?

And in some cases of depression you fall into despair, and think that nothing can fix you. Nothing can make things better. I was in despair for a long time, so I know exactly what it is, thank-you-very-much. If you are so called "Emo" in the way that is Emotionally crashed into the ground, you believe that the world would be better without you and you should just die and get things over with. I would call that despair.

She may not have been really in despair, but that's what comes to mind when I think of "Emo."

Guys, knock it off. She didn't make a thread so y'all could bicker about a definition of a word.

I did see it, but you said that you can't feel depressed if you don't have the condition.... when, lots of people do...

And I know that, but she might not have depression?! what you don't seem to understand is that she's feeling sad!!! and she said NOTHING about looking down on herself!!!

And obviously, you both have different meanings of "emo", but what she was meaning is she is SAD, that's it...

Aw, its ok, these two crack me up rofl
Reading their little argument actually made me feel a little better
Thanks to you guys for actually responding to my thread

What has been making me feel sad lately is,
I am an artist, and if any of you are to, then you would understand what kind of an emotional toll it can take on a person
Recently i have been going through a drawing block, and its been like this for a month and a half,
And I am extremly scared that it will never go away,
I was recently accepted into an art school, and im worried that my skills will have been reduced back to the basics and all that junk :C
Also everything I do lately, i seem to be messing up :T
