The Northern Star Academy was founded by a woman named Dalilah who, too, had special abilities that set her away from society. She believed that all beings, large or small, magical or human, mortal or immortal, deserved the choice of whether or not to obtain a better education. Though she was ridiculed for her outrageous beliefs, she never gave up on this dream of hers. She had tried many times to purchase any building to be used as her academy, but there wasn't a soul that would sell anything to her.

One night, when she thought the end had come, weak and tired, she trudged through the forest in desperation and need to find some form of shelter. After hours of walking, she collapsed in the pitch-black darkness. Finally losing her will to move on, she looked up to the Northern Star to make her final wish. As she looked up though, something had caught her eye. She sat up, and there it was! The soon-to-be Northern Star Academy! But it definitely wasn't anything at the time. Old and dilapidated, the large building stood in ruins. But Dalilah could see past that. She saw gleaming white walls and pillars of marble decorating her prized possession, as well as dozens of joyous students strolling through the schoolyard, laughing and simply enjoying life! Her fantasy soon came to an end as she realized one major problem: she couldn't restore this old mansion on her own. This realization hit her hard, and she was once again faced with a big problem.

Dalilah roamed the streets, asking for donations from anybody, everybody! She left empty-handed, though. Magical beings like herself had heard rumors going around that the insane woman had finally found some old shack to teach in. They eventually found her lying around the streets like an old beggar. Despite her young age, her appearance was weary and ragged from all of her hard work. Her new friends took pity on her and gave her food and shelter, though she was still very weak. With their help and donations, the word spread to other mystic creatures, who also came to help. Soon hundreds of new students were there to aid in her quest!

It was all Dalilah had ever hoped for! Her confidence returned, and she was soon washing the walls and installing windows with the others. Out of everyone there, Dililah was the most hard-working one of them all! They often had to pry her away from the academy to make her eat or even sleep!

Within months, the Northern Star Academy was ready to be opened to all magical creatures, as well as those who supported them. Her dreams had finally come true, and everything seemed at peace.

But not everything was at peace. The cities surrounding the academy started gossiping about Dalilah, calling her names and falsely accusing her for crimes she would never attempt.

'Killed her own mother, I hear!' they accused. 'Probably had to kill the landlord just to get that old shed she calls an academy!' The townspeople nodded in agreement. 'Nothing but a filthy murderer and a liar!'

As their accusations rose, so did their anger. Citizens began to revolt, destroying her property and breaking windows. The crimes gradually became more dangerous, and Dalilah started to worry. She came to realize these people would not accept change. On a cool night of September, the civilians had finally had enough. Many of them gathered that night, forming a large riot headed straight for the academy. Magical students with powers to protect made a barrier around the school's premises, though because there weren't many of them, the barrier was weak and would not last long. Dalilah commanded her students not to harm the citizens, however. Although they were there to tear her down, she understood that they only had fear for her. That they were scared of the new academy. Nonetheless, she would not let them destroy her possession, almost like a child to her. She had raised this child and would see to it that it was never to be harmed, even it meant giving her life. With the help of students with earth capabilities, they were able to separate the school grounds from the Earth itself. Dalilah then used what powers she had left to launch the entire school off of Earth's surface and into the sky!

Her actions proved deadly, however. Her life energy was drained completely from her body, causing her to fall deathly ill. The students did all they could to save her, but Dalilah knew her time was limited, and she was willing to accept that. In her last speech she stated to her students, she said:

"All of us here were lost at some point, and all for the same reason. But do not resent against the humans for their misdoings, for they are just as fearful of us, if not more, as we are of them. Look up to the sky! No matter how lost you may be, the North Star will always be there to guide you! Follow it, my children, and you will always arrive here at the Northern Star Academy!"

And with those last faithful words of hers, she passed away peacefully that same day. With her job done, she no longer felt the need to live another day. Her academy will flourish, her students would live on, and the world could finally accept the existence of mystical creatures living alongside humans. And most of all, her academy was safe right below the North Star, where anyone and everyone could find it!
