 She was infuriated, her best friend had gotten a mare pregnant, by accident of whatever reasoning. She was ticked. And wanting more than anything to smack something in the face, as hard as possible. She sighed and stomped her hoof into a pile of dirt, exasperated with herself and the others around her, especially Shilo. Males were idiots, serious idiots. Her frustration was quite apparent as she moved to the stream to get a small drink. Perhaps a little water would cool her temper. Unlikely, but it was worth a try, especially with the warm day and high sun.
Her eyes wandered over the horizon as she drank deeply from the stream. It was a decent day, but the look didn't improve her mood at all as she looked at the blue sky. It only reminded her of feathers that irritated her. She frowned deeply, ignoring her surroundings as she focused on the water in front of her.

 Aponi was relaxing. It had been a particularly pleasant day, and the breeze was blowing gently. It was as if the very world was rejoicing in that fact that spring was beginning. The aroma of flowers and sunshine was heavy on the breeze, and it was over all a slow lazy seeming day. The warmth was spreading all over him, it was going to be a hot spring and even hotter summer. He heard someone sighing nearby and he turned, intrigued by a crimson and black mare. She looked irritated. That was no good, smiling he spoke gently. "Such a look is not becoming someone so beautiful. Can I cheer you milady?"

She looked up at the voice, it had been male. There was a smirk on her face as she looked up at the flutter stallion who was an amazingly bright set of colors. Her left ear flicked as he spoke of her being beautiful, and asked to cheer her up. Alinea couldn't help scoffing a bit. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and yer eyesight is bad, bucko."
Her wings flicked out stretching, "As for cheering up...I really don't know. I'm in a sour mood because of something that's completely beyond my control...and really doesn't have a thing to do with me. Not like that fluffball even thought about me that way." She was ranting, "Sorry...I'm just in one of those bad moods." She seemed apologetic enough, she wasn't exactly sure why the colorful stallion had shown up full of compliments, but it wasn't bad to have someone other than Shilo to converse with.
Alinea gave a small snerk, "So what brought you out here? Flowers pretty enough for you to perch in?" She thought she'd heard about flutters shrinking down to small sizes, but she wasn't sure, "If...the rumors about flutters are true that is." She blushed a bit, unsure how to proceed given she might have just sounded like a fool.

Aponi laughed, she was quite a little firecracker. "Everyone has those days. You just...get through them. Sometimes a little company helps."
He fluttered his wings back at her lightly, "It's really okay. I just was resting. It's such a warm day, I figured some water would be nice. Not much point in flying around alone when I could talk to someone like you."
Tilting his head back, he let the rays fall on him for a moment before speaking again. "Yeah, flutters can shrink. How bout I show you, if you'll tell me what's going on? Let me try to help?" He gave her a light, friendly smile.

He's being awfully friendly for having just met me. She shook herself from the thought, he was not out to mate with her. That was quite obvious, but his concern was a bit unnerving to her. Shrugging it off, she sighed and decided what the hell, not like a complete stranger would really care or keep track of her woes. So, taking a deep breath she smiled, " Well, since I left my original herd, which was bad for me and turning me into a monster, but that's another story all together, I met a friendly stallion who was quite helpful in lightening my mood. We had a few chats, enjoyed one anothers' company, and...He's my best friend...and I have feelings for him. I was busily plucking up the courage to tell him...."
Grumbles and gets angry again, "And then I come to talk to him after getting some courage from his herd leader's daughter, and I find him moping. I can't help asking why, and it's because he's now a father." She looks defeated and upset, her feathers ruffling, "He went off somewhere and had this thing with a mare and now he's got foals, freaking out about it...and I don't know if I should even bother to tell him about my feelings, since I know he'll just be a responsible upstanding male and...stay with her for the foals...maybe he's even fallen for her...which leaves nowhere for me except to stay as his best friend..." Rolls her eyes at herself, "I know...stupid sort of thing to get aggravated about but it's so damn frustrating to be left out of the loop and then try to tell someone only to find that they've done something epically stupid with some random mare." Takes a deep breath, "I'll get over it, but right now...so not happy." She'd laid out everything that was irritating her to this random stallion and she felt a little better, but it still ruffled her feathers.
"So, now I've told you. Gonna show me how you can shrink?" Tries her best to smile.

Aponi listened interestedly, until the part about the foals. He felt his face darken a bit, shutting his eyes, he tried to push past that part. But it was spring, what did he expect? Everyone would be talking about foals...and he did not want to.
"It'd be stupid to stay together for the foals. Tell him. Let him know. Love is what lasts."
He shut his eyes, regaining a partial smile. "Yes, a deal's a deal." Quickly, he shrunk himself and nestled on a flower. It was so easy to taste the nectar at this size, to feel more light and free. It was as if by making himself smaller, somehow he made his emotions smaller.

She sighed, noting the fact that there was a subtle change in the stallion's demeanor, but not paying real attention to it as it wasn't really something that would matter to either of them. Glowing eyes widened as she watched a stallion, who was smaller than herself, become this tiny little thing that could sit in a flower.
She wondered what it was like to be that small for a few moments, then shook herself, she was a large giant, and longing to be smaller just was not her style. "I've often wondered, how does the nectar inside a flower taste? Since being the size I am, I can't do much more than eat the entire thing, and flower petals are only so sweet." Alinea was musing to herself as she curiously peered at the inside the flower at him.

Aponi pulled out the small piece of flower that contains the nectar, stretching out his little neck and he offered it to her from between his teeth. "There you should try it. It's...the sweetest, most delicate thing you'll ever taste."
He was glad that she hadn't mentioned anything more about the foals. It was nice for foals or anything to do with them was not the topic of conversation.

She lightly nipped the bit with nectar from his small muzzle, and barely got an odd taste of sweet. She smirked to herself, they could really shrink, and be inside a flower, rather than being large obtrusive creatures like herself.
"It must be awfully nice to be able to just relax inside a flower when you want. And not to have to rummage for grass all the time." Her mood was lightening, though she wasn't happy still about her best friend, but she'd figure a way to get back at him...or maybe she'd forgive him. It wasn't like he'd just up and leave because he felt like a jerk...that wasn't the Shilo she knew.
"So what kinds of flowers have you sampled? Just curious what the different ones taste like really."

He walked around delicately on the flower. "Well roses, are...very sweet. They don't have a typical nectar though. But honeysuckle, they're the most amazing. Very sweet, but not too sweet. It's just the right amount. It's what I'd call a type of...desert." He moved around on the flower, he felt so light and easy footed here, as though he didn't have to watch what he did as much. More at home almost.

She smirked a bit, there were many more flowers than simply roses and honeysuckle, so instead of letting him get away with just that kind of vague answer, she probed a bit more watching his light movements on the flower, "What about, Snapdragons? Or foxglove? Lavander? Lilacs?" She smiled a bit more as she thought of her favorite flower, "How about Lillies? What kind of taste do those have?" Granted, she'd only found out so much about flowers because of her only female friend, but the taste was something only a flutter would likely know.

Aponi considered. "Snapdragons make me sneeze. But they taste kind of like summery and salty. Foxglove tastes sugary but tropical. Lavandar...it tastes exactly how it smells. Lilacs, are like sweet grass...but sweeter." He smiled as he walked on the flower lightly, when she asked about lilies his face darkened. "I don't like lilies." He turned his head away, not wanting to talk about it.

She nodded to each of his descriptions, then tilted her head a bit at his dislike of lillies, then she remembered the exact type he was likely thinking about, "OH! I'm sorry, I was talking about tiger lillies. Not...eh..." She felt bad all of a sudden, being gleeful over something that meant saying goodbye to others for most, and that wasn't the type she was thinking of at all, "Well, I seem to have put my hoof in my mouth and chewed thoroughly." She mumbled a bit, then shook her head, "I guess you've lost someone, and that hit a raw nerve." It wasn't a question, more acknowledging that she'd made a mistake.
"Well then, what do flutters like yourself usually do for fun?" She moved the conversation along as best she could, "Other than getting the tasty treats from flowers?"

Aponi skirted any acknowledgement of death. He tried to keep his mind from thinking of Charlotte. "Well, we fly around." He coughed lightly trying to focus his mind again.
"We spy on others," he made a light smile. "Sneaking to bee hives....if you don't get stung that is."

Her head tilted to one side, "Spying on others, quite handy, if given you suspect someone of something. or if you're a gossip I suppose." She gave an odd quirk of a smile, "I bet you could cause a few rumors to be randomly spread being that small."
She snorted a bit, "I'd hate to be stung and be that size." She knew what it felt like to be stung and be as large as she was, but being that small and meeting a stinger, that would be something even more painful, rather than the slight irritation that happened when stung by bees, "I would figure the honey and nectar stored inside the hive is pretty sweet to risk that sort of pain."
Her eyes narrowed then, "How high do you fly?" She was wondering if he'd been very far, or flown high above the clouds, she could figure not very high, given how delicate butterfly wings were...and the fact that it was unlikely in his normal size that his wings could actually support him, "Have you ever fluttered through a cloud?" She couldn't help the idea that was starting to bubble in her head.
