Sheeesh, there is a lot of spam found on this guild while i've been away. Anyway as of today this will be the new Questions & Answers thread.

By "vampire girl", one would assume you're referring to Evangeline, "the Doll Master". Since Chachamaru is more a robot than a doll, I guess the second person (thing) you're refering to is Chachazero. I don't believe we have an actual answer for that provided in the manga or the little notes that come at the end of the volumes. My guess would be that Eva made Chachazero herself, a long, long time ago, at most a couple of decades after she was turned.
As for what exactly entails the process of animating and creating a conscious (or maybe consciousness is more appropriate) for an inanimate object, I don't know.

It's pretty obvious that Evangaline made both Chachazero and Chachamaru using her evil spells and such. Dontcha' think? I think so. ^___^

I thought that Chachamaru was made by Hakase, Chao and the rest of the science department peoples.

It's been made fairly apparent that Chachamaru was created by Hakase, with assistance from Chao and a little magic from Eva for the finishing touches.

Which means that Chao and Hakase know the existence of Mages, considering they made a partner for Evangeline.
It's just they they don't have any hard evidence, right?

Consider that Chao had a magic-powered time machine and her alleged intention for holding the MMAT, I would feel it's safe to say they do know. For how long exactly is more of a question. I would venture to guess that Chao has known about magic for most, if not all, of her life. Hakase probably learned of its existence some time between Chao's arrival and the completion of Chachamaru.

Yeah, in vol. 9 Hakase already said that part of Chacha is powered by magic.
When Negi asked Chao "So you know about mages too?" she answered "Just as much as Hakase does!"
So, yeah.

I heard Asuna made a deal with a demon when she was a kid? is that why she has magic resistence?
how many books are there?

Asuna made a deal with a demon in the anime not manga so far there are about 14 volumes in japan and there are 8 volumes released by del rey.

It's already confirmed in the issue of Shonen jump that had Chapter 127 in it.
There is going to be a second season of the Anime!
