Alejandra swished her tail back and forth gently, as she edged nervously around the mud puddle that had accumulated in the middle of the path she was walking it. Oh how she hated the dirt and muck! Gingerly she set one hoof in front of the other, making her way excruciatingly slowly till, finally, she was around the puddle.
Phew, that was close. She'd almost gotten dirty. Then she would've had to stop to find herself a stream or something to clean off in, right away. Alejandra could be quiet a**l about keeping clean. It was one of her pet peeves if her coat wasn't always gleaming. She wasn't vain, not in the least, but she loathed dirt.
She eyed the mud puddle for another moment before snorting, as if to say Ha, that's right, I made it around you, you dirty thing. She flicked her tail again and focused on the path ahead of her, she'd just gotten around one mud puddle, couldn't be running into the another because of carelessness, that wouldn't do at all. Now, on to more important things, like that crystal she'd found on her way home yesterday. She had tried to take it with her, but her mouth was already full with the other trinkets she had found throughout the day and there was no room and she had nothing to carrying it with so..... now she was going back for it.
That shiny would be hers!!!

Saluki pranced carefully through the trees. He had managed to break away from Moam and the baskets for a little alone time. A little walk through the woods at his own pace was just what he needed.
He had traveled for a little while when he stumbled near the same mud puddle. He stopped and looked at it, growing a small smirk. This was a good jumping opportunity. He flicked his tail softly and began to back up slowly with a slightly determined look on his face. Then, he bolted, jumped, and easilly cleared the puddle without making a mess. He turned with a triumphant smile and puffed up his chest with pride. Yeah... He was still a foal at heart....
However, eying the edges of the puddle a little closer, he noticed there were hoof prints in the dirt that obviously had not come from his own... And by the looks of it, these prints were fresh. He turned to look down the path and flicked his ears forward. Another Soquili? Only one way to find out.
He swished his tail with curiosity and began the steady trek down the path, eyes watching to catch a glimpse of another hooved creature.

Now how was she going to get around this. She eyed the large puddle of mud dubiously. I mean, she could fly over it, but she was in a forest, what if she ran into a tree and got dirty? What it the bark from the branches tangled into her beaded mane?? Alejandra only flew in open areas, where there was no chance of soiling her black and white coat, always when it was sunny, and never ever through dark clouds where she could get wet, if she got wet then the dust would stick to her when she landed!!
She looked down at the dominating mud puddle, then back up at the trees around her. A frown on her face. Could she perhaps edge around this puddle? No, not with those trees and roots on the side, not to mention the bushes... She huffed in agitation and backed up a bit. Maybe she could jump over it then... her large turquoise wings would give her the extra lift if she really needed it...
Well... she stood there for a few more moments, conflicted. To jump and risk getting dirty, or leave the glimmering crystal behind? Absolutely not, that crystal was getting added to her collection darn it!! She took a few more steps back, taking a reassuring breath before running forward and jumping, spreading her large wings out and clearing the patch of mud with little problem, though the edges of her wings had brushed into the tree on the left side..
She landed and quickly fanned out her wings, swiveling her head to observe if she'd gotten anything in the soft feathers. Not as far as she could see.... She check again, and then once more to be sure, before folding her wings back and shaking her head, tossing her mane as if to rid herself of the imagined dirt.

Saluki trotted carefully, as quietly as his hooves would allow, all the while searching for the other Soq somewhere up ahead. Every now and then he'd look down to make sure he was still on the right path. He was about to give up hope on seeing another when he heard the familiar thunder of pounding hooves then the soft thud that shortly followed. Rounding a cluster of trees, he managed to see the soq that it came from.
She was beautiful....
Her markings looked similar to his own, though instead of his own bright orange patches, hers were black as the night sky. Her horn was a gorgeous bright white that he could have sworn glimmered blue in the light. And her wings... Wait, wings...? She had a horn... and wings? Well. That was new. He'd never seen a Winged Uni before...... That made her all the more exotic.
He shook his head, returning his thoughts to the current moment. She was jumping puddles. Whether for fun or for cleanliness - because getting mud on your coat was definitely not pleasant - she seemed to be enjoying herself.
He rounded the corner, exposing himself into view. Perhas it was his curiosity that was compelling him to approach.
"Hello..." he started. It was a wonderful conversation starter at least. "Are you... um... lost? Or looking for something?"

Alejandra was still in the process of checking herself over when a voice disrupted her preening. What met her gaze was a orange and white patched Uni. Quiet the handsome fellow from what she could see of him under that blanket. The black orange and white article matched the male perfectly without being overbearing. What interested her most thought was the dreamcatcher around his neck. She hadn't seen one wore a Soquili before and she instantly began to make plans to search one out. She did like trinkets though she wasn't brazen enough to just snatch someone elses, she knew others liked their trinkets also.
In her observation of the male, she'd nearly forgotten that he had not only greeted her, but asked her a question. Wait, what if she told him about the crystal and he tried to take it before she got there? She shook her head, that was just silly, he didn't look like a thief. She was just being paranoid. "Hello, no I'm not lost I come through here quiet often." she said in explanation to why exactly she was in this particular location. "Yes, I am looking for something actually. There's a patch of crystals in a cave further up this path. I'm going to add them to my collection." he probably wasn't interested in her crystal hunt and here she was rambling about it. She flicked her tail nervously for a second before looking the male over. "I'm Alejandra, who are you?"

"Saluki." He bowed his head softly. "A pleasure to meet you." he smiled, then managed to stop just short of dirtying his own hooves in the puddle she made sure to leap over.
He looked down and frowned, a single ear flicking back as he judged the distance. This one was going to be a little tricky so he took a few steps back. He made sure she was far enough back that he wouldn't land on her and turned his head around. He gathered his blanket in his mouth to avoid the risk of it falling in the mud in mid leap - it was obvious he did that a little too often - and faced forward again only to run into a leap seconds after. Once safely across - and completely clear of the mud puddle - he tossed the blanket back onto his back and shook himself a bit to return it to its spot.
Now he could gather an even better look of this beautiful Mare. But before he could be marked for staring at her, he perked his ears. "Crystals, you say?"
He flicked his tail in his slight shyness. "And you have a collection? I can help you carry some if you like."
He began a soft tread down the path ahead of her. "I'm new to the area... Sorta. Do you live here? I mean, I do hope we're not impeding on someone's land." he then asked. He hoped his human wasn't too careless to set up a camp within another soquili's territory.

Alejandra watched in interest as the male first introduced himself, then prepared to jump over the puddle. He had taken his blanket into his mouth, revealing the rest of his back to be orange like his patches. It made sense for him to carry his blanket in his mouth while he was jumping, or running, or something that could knock it to the dirty ground where it could get trampled or... or well, dirty.
He made it over without a problem, though she had backed up quiet a bit just in case he didn't. She didn't want to get splashed if he landed in the mud. Luckily he didn't land in the mud. "Yes crystals... well more like clusters of them..." she said and her ears pricked forwards at the mention of her collection, she was quiet fond of her collection and would talk about it if given the chance. "Oh yes, I have all sorts of things in my collection. Not just crystals!" she said with a smile. Oh yes Alejandra was quiet the collector.
"Oh that would be nice, I can only take one or two clusters home at a time because I can't carry any more than that." which wasn't necessarily true, she was sure she could cram more in there but they were pointy and she didn't want to cut her mouth up. Oh wait, why was he was leaving!? She started a bit and caught up to the orange stallion. "Yes, I live... well around here. I live further back, down the path, and as far as I know, this isn't enyone's land. I haven't seen anyone else around here really. Unless they were just passing through. What about you, do you live around here, I mean well, did you just move here?" She noticed how he had said he was new, so... maybe, maybe he was moving into an area around her? It would be nice to have a friend living so close by.

He smiled a bit at this. "Then I could be of great help." He made a slight gesture of his muzzle to the blanket. "I can carry quite a bit in that blanket." he chuckled then allowed her to get slightly ahead of him. He wasn't exactly sure where these crystals were.
He then nodded a bit. "Yes. In a clearing not too far from here. My human just finished setting up the teepee for us there." He fell silent briefly, not sure how Alejandra thought about humans. He new that there were some Soquili that were against living with humans. But his human was probably the best human he's seen.
"So... Uh... You collect lots of things, huh?" he asked, flicking an ear over to focus upon her fully. "I'm... somewhat of a collector, myself. Only..." he chuckled nervously. "... I tend to collect living things. I mean, I have a human, a basket that will become a foal soon... Complete with its father and brother, apparently. I found all of them just from walking around, you know? It's amazing what you can find from just wandering about."
It was about at this point when he realized that he was rambling a bit and cleared his throat with slight embarassment. "So, um.... What all have you collected? If you don't mind me asking, that is?"

Whatever happened to walking next to someone? She glanced over her shoulder at him before realizing that he was letting her lead the way to the cave. Of course, silly her. She made her way down the path, her gaze on the ground rather than focused on Saluki, she didn't want to get dirty after all. "You have a human? that was certainly interesting... it also explained his blanket and the dreamcatcher around his neck. She didn't have a human personally, but she did live in an older abandoned teepee, she wasn't sure if there was a human that it belonged to or not, she'd only been there for a short time. But in that time it was enough to fill a corner of the teepee with her collection-
Wait what? She looked over her shoulder with a confused look on her face. He collected living things?! He wasn't going to try to collect her was he? His explanation was only a slight bit reassuring....
Oh and back to her collection! She smiled over her shoulder at him before returning her gaze to the forest path in front of her, it wouldn't be long now until they got to the cave. "I collect a lot of things. Anything shiny that I come across, I have a lot of pretty stones and feathers, there are some little shells that I found and a necklace that was caught on a branch in the river. I also have a bunch of different crystals, You'd be surprised how many are just lying around." she rambled on amiably about the magnitude of different things in her collection, not really noticing how badly she was dominating the conversation now that she wouldn't shut up.

He chuckled and allowed her to take control of the conversation. It made him feel better at least. Lately he had done nothing but talk to a basket that only occassionally shifted and jumped as if it was responding back to him. It was a nice change to have someone talk back. Sure, Moam talked to him, but their conversations were few and far between and hardly ever focused on anything outside of baskets for very long.
He smiled as she rambled on, actually interested in hearing all the things she had collected. He then nodded a bit. "I hope you have enough hiding places to keep all these things? I can't imagine going through all that trouble of finding stuff, collecting them, only to find out that you have nowhere to put it..."
He kept up with her easy enough, every now and then finding himself staring at her flanks and mane in awe of her beauty. He would then shake his head and silently returned to following her and listening to her clip-clopping hooves. The last thing he wanted was to be considered weird in the eyes of such a pretty mare.

Alejandra nodded in response to his question. "Yeah, I found an old abandoned teepee and that's where I live and where my collection is. No one bothers me so I don't worry about anyone taking anything." At least she never worried about it before, now that Saluki pointed it out though she, of course, began wondering if her trinkets and treasures were safe.... Darn it! Now she would be worrying about it for the whole way home!
Luckily, she didn't have long to worry about it. The cave with the crystals was now withing sight and she smiled and picked up her pace a bit, excited to find the shimmery rocks. Then she could go home and check on her collection! "Here we are." she said, making a kind of "tada" gesture with her wings towards the not so dark and damp cave. She'd explored it at first out of curiosity and found it to be one of those nice dry caves, thank goodness, and at the back was where she had found the crystals.

Saluki looked up as they approached the cave and smiled as she seemed to pride herself in finding it. "Awesome!" he chuckled as he pranced up beside her and peered inside. "This is almost a treasure in itself."
He seemed to be excited about seeing this cave as a young foal was seeing their first mud puddle. He stepped inside a bit of a ways then turned. It was rather roomy in here... big enough for a few Soqs... and there was even room outside for a teepee...
"Hey... This place is big enough... Why not move your Teepee here?" he asked, turning to look at her briefly. "There's plenty of room for lots of treasures in here. And there's more room in here than in any Teepee I've seen for you to walk around and lay on...."
He then flicked his tail and turned to look at her fully. "I can even help you move. And if you want to move the Teepee, we can get my human to help us with that."
He looked around at the back and spotted the crystals she had mentioned. "Woah..." he cooed in awe. "Nature does work in mysterious ways."

Alejandra looked as Saluki when he suggested her moving here, as dry and cozy as it was, bats lived in caves! And where there were bats, there was bat poop, she couldn't have bats pooping on her things! Well, then again, maybe the bats wouldn't live in here if she was in here living. She'd never thought about living in this cave before actually and was surprised she didn't think of it sooner.
She looked around the cave, taking the different features of it in a different light. Would it be hospitable as a home? It would certainly block the wind, and it was deep enough that even if the wind blew directly in she would be fine in the back. If she brought all her trinkets and such here, she could leave the crystals to grow even bigger... She looked at the ceiling, looking for leaky spots and things like that and it was still as dry as the first day she came here.
Alejandra turned and looked at Saluki excitedly. "You know, I never thought about it, but that's a pretty good idea!" she said, her voice elevating in excitement at the different possibilities the cave held. She could leave the teepee, it was never hers to take anyways. What if some human came back for it and it was gone? "You'd really help me move all my stuff? I do have a... large collection." she wasn't quiet ready to admit the enormous amount of useless things she seemed to accumulate. But she really did cherish all her little treasures.

He chuckled and shook his head softly. "I don't mind at all." He briefly followed her gaze about the ceiling and the floor. It seemed rather inhabitable. However, she'd need something soft to lay on. But he quickly knew what to do for that. He would take care of that once she was moved in.
Her nodded and turned, moving to one of the walls and flumping his large body against it. He began to rub his body along the walls near the entrance. "You can do this too. It'll warn the other animals that this cave is taken. It's a trick I picked up from my human. She does something similar whenever we settle in someplace new. Only... she doesn't have hooves, so... it's easier for her to do." he chuckled nervously then cleared his throat. "Right, so..."
He stood in the doorway of the cave... No. HER Cave... and smiled softly to her. "Lead the way to your Teepee? And we can get started...?"

Alejandra watched as Saluki rubbed against the wall and couldn't help but wrinkle her nose in disgust. Oh all the dirt he was rubbing into his fine coat!! It was horrible!!! "I... I really can't do that..." She stuttered out, her confidence wavering for the first time since she'd met the male by the puddle. "I- I have... I have this thing... about dirt- being dirty- I mean getting dirty..." she shuddered and shook her head. There was no way she was going to be rubbing up a filthy cave wall!!
She sighed and shook herself once more, cringing at the thought of all that dirt getting all over her. "Uhm, yes.. It's this way..." she walked quickly out of the cave and shook herself off vigorously, flaring her wings out a bit, though she was careful not to hit Seluki. Now any traces of real, or imagined, dirt were gone, she turned to look at the stallion. "I'm sorry about that... I really... I really do have a thing about getting dirty.." obviously. "My teepee is down this path..."
