Sumu was a small specimen for firekin, she was born of rogue blood, and taken as a slave during the reign of the traditionalists. Her pelt was the proper color, but her body didn't match those that dwelt in the desert. Her face was deformed, she'd been attack many years ago, scars on top of scars that left her odd looking, and blind on the left side.
The black and red lioness was wandering on the outskirts, where the Firekin met the pride lands, there were small scrubby trees and patches of grass here and there beneath the sand. She had gone too far in her search for something exotic to bring back to eat. She was hunting searching for food, and wanted to impress Bodaway with something, although their relationship was new it felt old and comfortable already, there were no secrets nothing to hide, just two lonely lions needing the company of the other.
She poked her nose into one of the scrubby dried out trees and inhaled curious if there was anything in the area to eat.

"Hello!" a green, furry jackal said, poking his head out of the tree with a big smile. "Have you seen bunnies?" The fact that he was sitting in a tree didn't seem to bother him, although on several levels it should have. Especially considering that he was looking for bunnies. "I liiiiike bunnies," the jackal said, jumping out of the tree. He clearly didn't realize that he was small enough to be eaten by the lioness.

She looked at the little green jackal, startled by its sudden appearance. "What under the sun are you doing in a tree, little thing?" it wasn't a prey animal, unfortunately and her stomach rumbled in disagreement, it was telling her that anything could be eaten if you were desperate enough. Lucky for the green creature, she hadn't become that desperate.
"Bunnies? No, I suppose there might be some desert hares hiding, but it's during the day, you wont find anything here. They're nocturnal." She answered him curiously, he seemed rather...strange.

"Awww," he complained. Then he looked up at her, almost expectantly. "I liiiike yooou," he said abruptly. "Do you like bunnies?"
How he got in the tree, no one knew, he couldn't remember, in fact, if he had bothered to think about it, his reply would have been, "I was in a tree?" but he had been distracted by the bunnies... somehow. "Hole!" he cried, racing a few feet only to stick his nose in the hole.

Sumu tilted her head blinking, okay perhaps this little jackal was more than a little strange. She watched as he rushed forward and stuck his face into a hole. Did she like bunnies? Well they tasted just fine, particularly the plump ones. But something told her the critter was not asking about her apatite.
"Hey, hey don't do that! There could be snakes in there!" she scolded the jackal like she would scold a child. She kept her good eye on him, trying to keep him in her line of sight.
"I like you too, please get your nose out of there." She stepped towards him keeping her head turned to watch.

Gir pulled his head out, sneezing loudly twice and shaking hard. "It smelled funny!" he claimed, dancing for a bit. "Now you smell funny!" he claimed, although, clearly, it was his nose that was smelling funny. there was still a bit of brown on it, which didn't look like dirt, but hopefully was.
He sneezed again and wiped the brown stuff off with a paw. "I'm Gir! Who are you?" he asked her cheerfully. It was at least three steps too late, but he didn't seem to care.

Sumu was getting a bit frustrated there was no having a real conversation it seemed with the jackal, Gir was apparently his name.
"I suppose, I don't smell like a jackal. You smell pretty odd yourself," she inhaled through her nose and then exhaled quickly trying to get the smell of him away from her.
"Pleasure..I think to meet you, Gir. Are you lost?" She could not help herself but be a little cheerful around him, her mood picked up at his enthusiasm and excitement. "I am Sumu, I live in the desert, but I seem to have traveled too far this way."

Gir stopped rubbing at his nose, then looked around for a long moment. "I don't know where I am!" he said, sounding quite surprised. He stopped, sniffing the ground for a long moment, then frowning slightly before sitting down with a wide smile.
"I'm looking for someone," he told the lioness. "I don't know who yet, but I know I'll find them sooner or later!" He looked at her, the cobwebby cranks in his brain creaking to life. "You're not it, though," he told her. It sounded rude, but seriously, she should probably be happy about that fact.

At his surprised expression she flinched, thinking that, not knowing where you are could get you in a lot of trouble. She'd been wandering and accidentally stumbled into the Firekin's land, then she'd been taken as a slave, and forced to do others bidding. Now, although free she was still paying for the consequences of that.
She blinked dumbly at him, he was looking for someone that he would know when he saw them. She felt sorry for whomever Gir was searching for, he seemed like he would need a lot of help getting around. It wasn't too rude knowing she wasn't who he was looking for.
"You're not sure who you're searching for or where you are? That seems very sad," she frowned at him, "You're going to want to go in that direction." she lifted a paw and pointed away from the Firekin's homelands.

"That direction?" he repeated, looking in the way she pointed. "Then I shouldn't be going that way! Or that way, or that way, or that--" He started turning in circles, pointing out all the directions that he shouldn't be going. Then he stopped and looked at her.
Shockingly, though, he didn't ask her what direction he should be going in. He just sat down for a brief moment, waving slightly before jumping to his feet again with another brilliant smile. "Okay!" he said, turning in the direction she had pointed. "Bye, lady!" he said before racing off as fast as his short little legs could take him.
"Buuuunnniiieeeesss!!!" he yelled as he went.

She watched him, unable to keep her eye focused on him as he twirled, moving around searching for a direction to go. How uncomfortable a situation could be, as he started moving she sighed, she was sure he wouldn't make it very far.
"Be careful, little creature." She hoped that he was, she didn't want him to suffer a terrible fate.
Her stomach growled in protest as she watched Gir walk away, it was exclaiming in anguish that even though the creature was strange, it's meat wouldn't taste oddly. She was hungry, and she was going to have to head home empty handed.
