I feel like all of us here are in love (im head over heels for my instruments) with there instruments, so here's your chance to tell us all about the things that make us all the same, make us all be a part of this wonderful guild, and the things that bring us all together. So essentially brag about your instruments, I feel like while we talk about playing all the time here we never quite get a chance to give our instruments some extra public love heart wink What kind of instruments do you play? (ie trumpet, flute, oboe, etc.) What brands do you have? What kind of accessories? What kind of cases? Mouthpieces? Reeds? Names? What you use each of your instruments for? etc....

MY INSTRUMENTS:
Trumpets
heart heart 1970 Bb Bach Stradivarius 37 Silver Plated, with first valve custom trigger-my baby heart heart
1970 Bb Buescher Aristocrat Student Trumpet Laquer
2009 Bb Dynasty Professional Marching Horn Silver Plated
2007 Bb Yammie Laquer

Mouthpieces
Vincent Bach New York 7D (just replated heart )
Vincent Bach 3D (2)

Accessories/Cases
Protec iPac Double Case
1970s Conn Selmer/Buescher Standard Case
1970s Deluxe Single Stradivarius Case
Vincent Bach Black/White Sardonix Finger Buttons

What I use my instruments for
The Strad gets used for Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, ALL AUDITIONS, Pit Orchestra, and sometimes for marching band competitions. The Aristocrat hasn't been used since my freshman year at band camp, when the third valve snapped, she sits in my room, valves frozen, cold, and unused (im gonna cry crying , what a typical band nerd.). I do occasionally take it out to check on it lol...I learned on that horn, and for that reason it has sentimental value for me. The Yammie was the schools, but my director lets me use it and basically keep it for band camp and the early parts of marching season (rehearsals only, I use my Strad early on for marching shows). The Dynasty horn is a Drum Corps horn used by the Raiders Drum Corps, so I don't own it fully, but during mid-september I take ownership of it, and use it for all rehearsals and competitions (occasionally my Strad gets to be played when its not raining and my director wants the upperclassmen to use their silver horns, and pass the Dynastys to the underclassmen to silver-out the horn line).

I also play an Epiphone Acoustic Guitar, and a Baby Grand (I forget the name, and I dont feel like moving to go find out, but she's a beauty)

Anyway I had a lot of fun bragging about my instruments, you don't have to go into the detail or intensity I did, because I did it out of love for them and pure boredom, but go BND and BRAG AWAY!

Love, bandgeekus shorticus heart

I play the clarinet
I'm not sure what type my instrument is I believe it's a Vito but it's my moms.
My clarinets name is Luna Black.
I use my instrument for band class, and when I'm bored I'll play it.

I have a three valve euphonium that was made around the turn of the century (not from 20th to 21st, from 19th to 20th)
It sounds lovely, even for its age. I have no idea what brand it is, but the next time I take it to the band shop for cleaning and whatnot, I'll ask. The last time I did (which was...three years ago), the staff there were drooling all over it (not literally)
Sigh, good times...

Oh, last marching band season, I was in the possession of a kanstul marching baritone. Velvet Knights drum and bugle corps let our school rent two of their euphs and six of their baris, since our school's horn are crap. I...was very reluctant to give it back xD sigh, next year.

I have a Bach Liberty Trombone with an F attachment and a Con 23h (i think its 23) student trombone

I keep my student horn at school and use that for all rehearsals and i use my Bach Liberty (which is pretty much a Bach Strad with a 1/2 inch smaller bell) to practice on at home and bring it for the performances

I own a Buffet Crampon R13 Greenline Bb clarinet. We have a love-hate relationship, but it's very important to me.

I always have, but only until I graduate, a Buffet bass clarinet, which is pretty much my child and I love it. I'm not sure what model it is, though.

I have three amazing Bb clarinets. heart

I've had my plastic Bundy since the summer before 5th grade and I still play it in college marching band. It has a big chunk that fell out of the bell (which we glued back in) and the top of the bell broke off and is stuck to the lower joint. It's been through a lot and it was even used before I got it!

I got a wooden Selmer Signet Soloist my freshman year of high school. I felt really special since everyone else had Buffets and Yamahas. It is my baby and I will never sell it. Same goes for my other clarinets.

The newest addition is an old French Buffet with 5 digits in the serial number. I got it overhauled, but I still need to find a good mouthpiece for it.

I got all my instruments for free, too. It's awesome having a band director for a grandpa. whee

Hm...this could take me a while haha.

Instruments:

-early-mid 1900s Normandy france Bb wooden clarinet(My baby Kiki)
-Vito II Bb plastic clarinet(My less-loved baby Claribelle)
-Cheapo Harmony Bb plastic clarinet(Flarp)
-(School-owned) Yamaho alto sax(Mel)
-(borrowed from a firend) King Cleveland Bb trumpet(I named him Cleveland, cause he was nameless. Shhhh)

Cases/Accesories:
-baby blue butterfly fabric clarinet case with silver interiror

Uses of Instruments:
I use my Vito for marching band. Its more durable but still plays really well. My Normandy is used for all auditions and concert season. The harmony was my first personaly clari, but it was basically a cheap replacement for renting, so it is pretty much junk and currently being borrowed by my friend in exchange for his trumpet. I'm learning trumpet because my goal is to be able to play every instrument decently before i exit high school. The alto sax I use for jazz band, but we havent rehearsed in a while so i havent played much recently.

I play the clarinet. It's a Buffet E11. I use a B45 mouthpiece and Vandoren size 3 reeds. My clarinet doesn't have a name. I also have a cheap plastic clarinet that I use at school. I save my good clarinet for concerts and competitions.

I can't really brag about my oboe. We've been together on and off since sixth grade when I started. It's a school instrument, it's plastic, it's got a bent key, but it's been with my through thick and thin. It survived through the middle school years with me, and that's all I can really brag about.

Instruments I Own
Flute - Jupiter 25th Anniversary; Open-Hole with French Cups (concert, orchestra, jazz)
Flute - Emerson Student Model (marching)
Piano - I forget the specifics ^^;

Instruments I Happen to Have at My House
Mellophone - King (corps)
Mellophone - Jupiter (previous corps practice)
Mellophone - Yamaha (previous corps practice)
French Horn - Again, I forget the specifics. (orchestra)
Clarinet - Buffet B-12; Plastic (for a friend's woodwind pedagogy class)

Why yes, I hoard other people's instruments at my house! (Two mellos are the school's, one's the corps', the horn is my horn teacher's, the piccolo is my friend's, and the clarinet is another friend's.)

I've been a band geek since 1997 ( I was 13) started on a dingy, crappy, dented middle school abused for at least 20 years trumpet even though I desperately wanted to play flute.

In 1999 I was granted my dream and given the crappiest, dented-est erroded flute the high school had. I thought my BD was joking, but it was the only one we had left and if I was determined to play a flute I was gonna play THAT one (his attempt to keep the 20-girl flute section down and build up the 5 person trumpet section). I was gifted the best flute when the BD retired and half the section quit in his honor. For the next three years I played EF 432. NO ONE touched my flute because I would find out and yell at them. I didn't want some grubby noobs dirty hands and mouth on my baby. It was just a simple school-issue flute but it was mine. I considered buying it from the school at my graduation (2002) but they were asking too much for it.

A year later I bought my Yamaha from a pawn shop for more than the school wanted for my old one. It's just as beaten down and dented as my very first flute but its carried me through a number of parades and music lessons to my elementary students. This year it is getting a good work out with a friends daughter as she takes her first steps (and sadly, last..she's going back to choir) into marching and concert band.

My bassoon is a Fox Renard 222 with the High D key.

Having your own bassoon is quite enough to brag about, I know. But this is a nice intermediate model, which fortunately isn't plastic. It's not professional, but I'll never be professional so it's fine. It's perfect in fact, just so glad I got to play the instrument - I was never going to be able to otherwise.

I play on Singin' Dog reeds. I used to get Jones reeds, but that company is long gone. These reeds are better anyway.

Otherwise, back in 8th grade (2003) I got a Bach Stradivarius Trumpet. Everybody was jealous. Not everybody had gotten their silver trumpets back then, and then I got that one (which was like top-of-the-line for non-custom trumpets back at that time). I feel pretty bad in retrospect, though. I didn't stick with the trumpet. I didn't really need that. sweatdrop Still I doubt that trumpet cost any more than 2/10ths that of my bassoon's retail price. xD
