I am sure that most of you, if not all, have heard about the earthquake, followed by tsunami that happened in Japan yesterday. The epicentre of the earthquake happened around Sendai, and many areas have been washed away and/or submerged by the waves of the tsunami.

The death toll varies from news reports, so no one is sure how many casualties there are. Regardless of the number, it truly is a tragic event to happen. 2011 has been one disaster after another.

If you are wondering what this post has to do with Vampire Hunter D, if Hideyuki Kikuchi, Yoshitaka Amano, and Saiko Takaki have Facebook and/or Twitter accounts so that we can know that they are alright.

My thoughts and heart go out to everyone in Japan.

I have no idea if they do have facebook or twitter accounts, but I personally am more than a little relieved that my friend who lives there and his mother who is visiting are alright.

X

I'm also unsure if they have a facebook/twitter.
I haven't heard any bad news concerning them yet either. Hopefully they are unharmed and well.

It would of been nice if everyone there was unharmed. It's horrible to think about that happened there.

Japan's going to have more problems following this quake and the tsunami. One of the nuclear power plants was hit by a falling building, and now they have a possible nuclear meltdown on their hands.

All my prayers definitely go out to Japan and all it's inhabitants.

Hideyuki Kikuchi and Kevin Leahy are safe, though Yoshitaka Amano and Saiko Akaki are still unconfirmed (though Leahy suspects that Amano is not currently in Japan.)

Though with that aside, as Kronoton mentioned, the nuclear plants are what most people are worried about. Japanese officials said that as long as people are 30km away from the plant, they should be safe, but regardless, a meltdown is horrendous news.

However, we should also know that Japan was prepared for earthquake and tsunamis, though because of this, it doesn't mean other countries can stop helping. If you're able to, donate whatever you can (money, non-perishable food, water, blankets) to any location that will be shipping these items to Japan, or to the Red Cross.

Good to know.

Though considering the title of this thread, I'd like to add that they bumped the earthquake up to a 9.0. gonk
