It all seemed silent just as his days always were for as long as he could remember. The sun sat high against the sky above, and the land below baked beneath its rays. And yet Mohlako didn't see any real signs of life besides the occasional chirping bird, or a stray gazelle makings its way back to the herd. The male had no problem with this though. Silence was all he knew, and he expected it would be all he would ever know. It brought him some sense of comfort, and yet in its own way it also pained his heart and brought him much doubt. Letting out a yawn, Mohlako stopped along the tracks of the barren dirt road. The day would be long and hot, and that meant it would be best for him to find some place to rest until night fall when it would be nice and cool. Allowing his eyes to scan the area he decided to make his way off the path and towards the trees standing amongst the tall grass. Maybe he could just laze the day away within his dreams, as he always did...

Karroo was happy. The sun was bright if a bit hot and the young cub didn't have a care in the world. Her brothers and sisters were being watched by her father and older siblings but Karroo was special. She got momma to take her herb hunting with her. Karroo got to spend the whole day with momma but the young cub soon lost interest at looking at stupid plants so she wandered away while her mother was absorbed in her work. She knew what she was doing was wrong but Karroo also had no sense of her danger.
She had found a patch of trees where she could stay in the cooler shade. Karroo was humming to herself when she spotted a grasshopper and decided to practice her hunting. On her first pounce the hopper bounced away unfazed but Karroo had to smother a giggle. Her second pounce she slipped and ended up rolling. She got up smiling as her giggle filled the air.

As Mohlako neared his desired destination a smile came upon his face. Finally he could relax and and drift the day away in the comfort of his own company and dreams. Some one say such a lifestyle was pathetic and lonely, but the male had grown used to it. It brought him comfort in its own way, even if he did find himself agreeing with the comments some made.
Grunting and shaking his head of the thoughts, the lion made his way over towards a chosen tree, but then stopped mid step when something caught his attention.
"..."
Giggling? Yes, the giggling of a child, but he didn't really see any child around. No, wait...
Blinking in confusion, Mohlako stood in his place as he watched a blur of green roll on by like a rock descending from a cliff top. The only comfort he got from the sight was her continuous laughter, which was a sure sign she was alright, right? No, it wasn't his cub, so why should he worry? The mother was most likely nearby anyway.
"..."
Sighing, he held back a grown and cautiously, yet reluctantly, edged over towards the cub to investigate.

Karroo wobbled a bit as she took a few steps, the world slowly stopped revolving around her. With a big smile on her face she walked into the shade of the trees passing a large cream and black male. "''llo," she said in passing. She soon came to a complete stop and turned back to the male.
"Who are you and why are you here?" Her questions were full of curiousness and interest. It didn't even occur to her that maybe talking to a strange lion was a bad idea or that this was something that her parents meant to prevent when they told her and her siblings not to wander away. "Do you want to play? I was hunting a grasshopper but I guess that it hopped away. We could always find something else to hunt."

His caring nature was going to be the death of him one day, or at least the death of his patience anyway. The cub was not one he had ever seen before, which made him a tad wary. What if the mother was around, watching him and what he chose to do? No mother would just go and let their cub wander off, right? Maybe, by the looks of her steps she was off to go back to her mother, or so he thought until she turned right back around and came towards him.
With a bit of a frown on his face, Mo just tried to look ignore the cub. Maybe if just looked like he wasn’t interested in her or her questions she would go away. It wasn’t as if he was going to answer them anyway. He never answered anything he couldn’t mime out; even then it was a pain since he would end up looking like a fool.
Flicking an ear to the questions, Mohlako sighed and then pawed at his through while giving a bit of a grunt. He could only hope the questioning cub would understand what he was trying to get across. Though, he couldn’t help but ponder the last question.
As he looked around once more, he didn’t notice any other lions around. Where was the cub’s mother? Was the cub possibly lost or abandoned? If that was true, then he would have to rethink his plans. He couldn’t possibly just leave the cub alone and go about ignoring her.
Mentally scolding himself, the male lion reached out and gently pawed at her head, as if to say he was willing to play with her if that is what she really wanted. Mo didn’t really know of any games since he didn’t spend much time with others, especially cubs, but he figured entertaining a cub couldn’t be that hard. The mother would come around eventually, right?

Karroo watched the lion quietly waiting for his response. She watched in confusion as he placed a paw at his throat and then gave a bit of a grunt. It took her a moment for it to dawn on her that he could not talk, not that he didn't want to. "Oh I guess its kinda pointless for me to ask you questions hun? Well anyway, I'm Karroo and if its ok with you, can I call you..." She paused for a moment trying to think of a name to call this silent male, after all she couldn't just call him 'hey you', "Moe. Its a simple name I know but you kinda look like a Moe." She smiled apologetically.
When 'Moe' patted her on the head she took that as a OK for playing. Now what to play? Tag? Hide and Seek? Pretend? So many choices. Karroo smiled sheepishly and asked, "What would you like to play?"
