Her hunt had been successful, the eating, great. Now the dark-coated lioness was spread out under the broken shadow of an umbrella tree, flat out on her side. The heat and a full belly made movement a very distasteful thing to even contemplate, but then, she was fully content, alone in the great wide savanna, stuffed with fresh meat and with the sun warming her fur in patches so she was at a nice, comfortable temperature while the rest of the land shimmered in the heat.

An itch on her side that her waving tail couldn;t banish meant the lioness had to heave herself up and n** at her glossy coat, but finally it subsided and with a pleasurable groan, she flopped back down, eyes closing.

What a boring day. A boring place. God, everything was so boring.

Did anything ever happen in this open, dusty waste land? Cradily sighed and wrinkled her nose in distaste at her surroundings. Vast and flat for as far as her eyes could see save for an occasional silhouette of a tree dotting the landscape and the jutting out crops of rocks. Most the herds lumbered in lazy, lulling motions, but all the bigger predators seemed to be taking cover in the shade for an afternoon nap. Hidden, but not unknown to the leopardess who scowled at their scent.

God this place stinks of lions. Crad laughed, speaking to no one in particular.

One dark ear twitched at the sound that reached her. After a moment of contemplation, she lifted her head to peer over at where the sound had seemed to originate from.

"Well, that would be because there are lions around, I'd guess." She replied, somewhat sassily. Rolling over onto her belly she groomed her paw lazily then sat up, tail curling behind her, poking out of the patch of shade she had claimed earlier.

Brilliant yellow eyes flickered, twisting to gaze towards the darkness cast by a nearby tree where the voice had surfaced from. Even her keen eyes could make out no sign of a figure against the shadows. Must be very dark, whoever you are.

The thought crossed Cradily's mind and yet, despite the fact that she had no idea the size or species of the creature she faced, there seemed to be no sense of fear in the flora colored leopardess as she took a casual stance. Stare concentrating on the darkness until a flicker of metallic blue cut through the blackness with the female's movements and she was met by pale eyes. A brow arching wryly.

I don't mean to say I smell lions here. I mean it stinks like a lion here.

"Well.. whats the difference?" She returned, lifting herself to her full height, while still sitting down at any rate, and beginning to groom a paw. The leopardess, stood out in the bright sunshine, was clearly visible to Kyoko with her bright green body and yellow belly. Small as all leopards were she was no real threat to the lioness so Kyoko didn't hurry to move, but merely watched her.

"I should think it stinks of a lot of things. Hyenas stink and they went past recently."

If you have to ask, I don't see much point in explaining. Cradily began with grin of superiority that may or may not have suggested just exactly what she thought of all of lion-kind. Adding after a moment of thought. However, it seems you've caught me on a good day. I'm bored and have little better to do with my time right now than explain such a trivial matter, so...

For a leopard and being female, she was a rather large and heavily muscled specimen, allowing her to thoroughly enjoy ambush hunting. Drawing her prey to the ground without too much difficulty after years of perfecting the rather unusual technique. As a result she showed little fear of repercussions upon realizing that she was, indeed, speaking to a lioness. Settling on her haunches to begin properly explaining her meaning. I mean to say that it's not that I can smell lions in the area, though it's obvious that I can.

An almost self-explanatory gaze was flicked towards the stranger before she continued. ...but that the grasslands stink like a filthy lion.

The comment was made in such a way to let the stranger know that she thought lions less appealing than some other beasts lower on the food chain. Like the so named hyenas. Hyenas were certainly stupid, but not as annoying to Cradily as lions.

"Uh hu.. but you know.. that is still not really explaining anything. Aside from the fact that not only can you smell them, but you think them filthy, which, by the way, comes through loud and clear without the word being added."

Moving from grooming her paw to grooming her shoulder, the lioness simply ignored the other female for a moment before glancing over, as if surprised that she was even still there. "To me, its starting to smell of leopard, but thats fine. I have no issues with other felines. I can't eat you so why would I bother worrying about it?"

Was she serious? A flat-eyed look peered at the female shamelessly grooming herself in front of the leopardess in disbelief. What was there not to understand? Cradily couldn't explain herself any better than she already had. The savanna smelled. It smelled badly. She chose to describe it as smelling like a lion because, well, Crad happened to not think terribly highly of lions. If there was any simpler way to explain it, the ability certainly escaped her know-how.

Exasperation caused the mossy green feline to laugh and shake her head. Finally shaking off her frustration the way she always did and rolling her shoulders to loosen the creeping tension. Finally adding when the roll of her amused tittering quieted. I suppose it's a good thing I came then, it'll be like a breath of fresh air for this place.

A brow arching humorously at the dark lioness' comment about eating her. I'm not worried.. any lion would be hard pressed to try eating a leopard like me.

"Mmhmm.. if you say so." Personally she thought the place smelled just fine, after all, it was scent that often helped one find meals, or determine if an area was safe.

Pale gaze brushed over the other female once more. "Why would I want to?" Dropping her paw she tilted her head at the leopardess as if the other female was a little simple. "I imagine any leopard would taste bad, not to mention its close enough to cannibalism.".

Yawning suddenly, her full belly making her want to nap rather than chit-chat, the lioness slumped back down, tail curling lazily over her haunches. "Don't know what to do about your sense of smell..."

That calculating expression was mirrored humorously. Obviously she though the shadow lady was the slow one or at least a little naive. Of course eating a leopard was barbaric and disgusting behavior, but it wasn't something she hadn't encountered before. It was a hellish thing to view, but Cradily had sat carefully hidden and watched in horror as two male lions killed and ate another. A stray wanderer it had seemed.

The image had stuck with her, a reminder that the hunters were only to be trusted while she kept a safe distance. Gods only knew what sort of things they were capable of. Humming dryly as she watched the lioness lay back down. My sentiment exactly...

But the rogue seemed to be feeling sluggish on a full belly. Her responses bland and without any vigor. Even if Cradily was willing to admit that she was itching for a fight--which she wasn't--there wasn't one to be found here today. Tongue clucking as she rose off her hind quarters, dusted her tail across her backside and began to wander off again. Well I guess I'll be off then.. to some place that doesn't smell.

Kyoko barely responded, lifting her head only as the other female walked away. "Right.. you do that..." Yawning again she let herself flop back down, stretching out with a lazy grunt and closing her eyes. Maybe she could resume her interrupted nap...
