Wow. 8.9 earthquake in japan, lasted for 5 minutes. Lots of bad aftershocks, fires, and a 23ft tsunami! I'm hearing that they are even having problems with their nuclear plant, and may have radiation/toxic problems.

My prayers are with Japan.

Waves carried to Hawaii and to the west coast of the US.

I took some pictures at the beach this morning, the waves on our coast aren't high or catastrophic but the tide looks like it's pulling back and the water/waves don't look normal(but I'm no scientist). The news said we won't get anything worse than a normal storm would bring, and we can't identify wind waves vs the tsunami waves.

The beaches are closed just in case(as you can see the beach is empty), and the the tsunami will last a few more hours. Lots of people stopped by to check it out. It's still a beautiful day out. Anyway here are some pictures from my phone:

Just found out Crescent City's harbor has millions of dollars of damage.
Lots of dead fish in harbors and boats flooded or bashed around. The tides are receding and there are some whirlpools. Some beaches are being re opened.

It came to the whole west coast of the US, but the waves aren't very big... just like you said it looks like a normal day. But Hawaii had some earthquakes... so who knows if anything scarier will happen.

Dear heavens the worst we get in Ohio is usually a tornado. I was listening to Radio U this mornin' and I was shocked. Definatly praying for Japan.

Wow that must be terrible over in Japan! I just heard about it over the radio, this morning while my mom was agruing with my brother, and then friends told me more about it.

Yeah, *shiver* I hate the tornadoes Dx (<--imma fellow ohioan) My sister's best friend moved to Japan a few years ago, I'll have to see if she's okay~
