Sadara climbed wearily up a the trunk of an Umbrella Tree, more tired then she could ever remember being. Her still healing leg pained her if she traveled to long, and the drop seed Liahu had sent with her was almost gone. She'd have to search for some soon. At least she could prepare it now, the months tending her mother Nevena had at least taught her something.
Settling in among the branches of her perch, she looked out over the savanna and the rain that had started as a few cool splashes, was now a full down pour. The Rainy Season had come, and while Sadara knew that was good for a sole leopardess traveling the bad lands, it didn't mean she liked being wet to the bone. Flicking back and ear, her tail lashing back and forth, the pale leopardess tucked herself further into the thick, sheltering branches and leaves of the tree.

Ugh.. rain.. so much damn rain. Trudging along, her coat saturated so the rain streamed round her body and cascaded from under her belly, the soaked lioness didn't even bother doing any more than occasionally shaking her head to get the water out of her ears. Sodden to the skin, Kyoko was really not impressed with the weather. She liked being dry, and while the heat was sometimes too much, it was easy enough to find a pool and wash off. But this... she could feel the water running through her fur, streaming down her tail and plastering her mane tuft to her face.
Eventually, through the curtain of falling water, she spotted the blurry outline of a tree. Shelter! Hustling forwards as much as she was able to while avoiding slipping and ending up face-first in the sloppy mud, the dark-coated lioness, now nearly fully black in the gloom, hurried over to the tree and ducked under its shelter, though it was far from perfect it was a damn sight better than being without. Sitting down at the base, shoulders hunched, she shook her head violently. "Damn water."

Sadara had kept still, and very quiet as the lioness approached, knowing far to well she wasn't a match for the much larger cat, and with her hind leg still hindering her, a fast flight was not an option either. At least she knew she was safe in the branches of the tree. Lions were not climbers.
When it was obvious that the black female was going to be taking shelter under the same Umbrella tree, Sadara frowned. Well, wasn't this just great, rain, drenched, and a lioness...the day could not get much better. Grumbling a little under her breath, the pale leopardess decided that perhaps being friendly would keep her skin on her bones, or at least the lioness on the ground.
" It could at least have had the decency to wait till night before it opened up." She said, glaring out at the offending water, " At least then I might have made it to the foothills and found better shelter then this tree."

That was the other bad point about rain, it deadened ones ears entirely. Looking up at the pale shape Kyoko barely hid the wince of embarrassment. How could she miss an entire leopard? Even though lions were the stronger species, the other female had a pretty good position form which to launch an aerial attack.
Shaking herself thoroughly, trying to unclog her senses, the lioness nodded. "Aye, or at least give us more of a warning. I got caught out on the plain, not much of anything in the way of shelter out there. Squinting up against the irregular plop of fat rain drops, Kyoko could make out the pale female and what looked like a healing wound on her rear.
Did you have anywhere to be this evening?" She asked with a touch of dry humor.

Sadara kept her paws where the other female could see them, keeping her shoulder's and back relaxed, doing her best to show the lioness she wasn't a threat, and was content to stay up in the tree, if she was content to stay on the ground.
She shook her head at the dry question, " No, I have no where to be." There was a shaded wistfulness in her voice, it could have been grief, or perhaps longing.
Settling pale eyes on the rather sodden lion, her lip twitched a little, " I would say you got caught out, I don't think there is a dry patch on you. I at least fared slightly better. I was already a few yards from this tree when it really started to dump."

Kyoko wasn't seriously worried about being pounced, the leopardess was far smaller than her and really, very few ever seriously challenged Kyoko, she might have been a single female, but she was a tough as nails and as fierce any male when she wanted to be. Usually though, she was content to view the world with a slightly warped amusement.
The leopard's tone caught her attention and she wondered at it, but it was certainly none her business so she made no comment. Snorting at the female's observation about Kyoko's soaked state, she huffed and shook her head again.
"You could say that. I was in the middle of stalking my meal when it started, of course I didn't pay attention until it really came down heavily.." Thoroughly disgusted with the wetness, the lioness scowled at the rain, pressing closer against the tree's trunk.

" Ugh, don't mention food, " Sadara grumbled, her stomach letting her know it was empty thank-you-very-much. She'd hadn't had a chance to hunt anything slow enough for her to catch today, her last meal had been afternoon yesterday.
" I am so hungry I could eat a damn hippo...or a wild dog." She shifted some on her branch, tucking her tail in closer to keep warm, " with the rain falling like it is, we might just end up with a hippo swimming past us."

Kyoko blinked, then chuckled in amusement. "A hippo hu? Well.. I don't know about that, but soon as there is a break in the wetness, why don't we go hunting together? Your leg looks sore and Im pretty good, good enough to catch something big enough for us both anyway." She wasn't bragging or blowing her own horn, she was a talented and very experienced huntress and rarely had any trouble finding something to eat.

The pale leopardess blinked, somewhat taken my surprise by the generous offer, " That would be really great, I've not been able to hunt well, though I am getting stronger. It's healing, but I'm not up to full speed yet."
She bit her lower lip, " I don't have anything to offer in return. Just my company, but I can always flush prey to you, if you wanted? My...close friend and I used to hunt that way, before he was killed."

"Pffft.. don't worry about it. I have to hunt anyway and its better to share than leave anything for those damn hyenas. Looking up at the leopard for a moment, while trying to avoid the bigger drips from the tree's branches, he looked curious at the female's words. "Flush the prey? Sure, we can try it. I rarely have a hunting partner, could be good!" Always willing to learn new methods and far from thinking she knew everything, the lioness grinned.

The lioness grin was infectious, and Sadara found herself grinning back, " Glad I am a step above hyena," she joked, her tail relaxing out from under her.
" Flush the prey is a fun game, its a trip to see the startled look on the prey's face when another cat jumps out at them. You're gonna love it." Sadara chuckled just thinking about.
" I'm Sadara, and you realize there is only one problem with this whole plan right?" She waited a moment before pointing a paw out at the down pour.
" The damn rain."

Laughing she flicked her tail. "Your practically a cousin." After all, they were both cats, unlike those hyena who Kyoko wasn't really sure what species they were.. certainly nothing feline.
"Really? I'll looking forward to it then. Nice to meet you Sadara, Im Kyoko." Tilting her head she looked quizzically up at the leopard then laughed.
"Well.. it can't rain forever."
