Ralae groaned and shifted awake. Something had awoken her, she felt hot and stifled like someone had thrown an armful of furs on top of her. The teen tried to push herself up, only to collapse back down. Why was she so tired? Her body sore. The last thing she remembered was that she and Zaybreth were supposed to...
Zaybreth!
Yes? The dragon asked softly, obviously just waking herself. I did well! Such a nice bronze with such interesting marks! I simply must draw him when we get home.
We... aren't home? But... But... Eirlyn was expecting us! Ralae sighed and tried to push the heavy limbs off of her again. Really? Who did she end up with but a stranger, not even anyone from her own weyr or class. Does the Weyrwoman know?
She does and says it took long enough. I have delivered our news and we are to return by evening. I need a good scrubbing. Zaybreth seemed very pleased with herself. Plexith's rider seems to be a good man.
I don't even know his name! And he doesn't know mine. Ralae cringed. Weyrborn and bred though she was, even she had some manners and decency. On top of that, after what happened... He had to know that he was her first. Gingerly this time, she tried to move from underneath the limbs and succeeding in freeing her upper half. Coughing slightly, she poked him. "Uh, hello. I am stuck under you."

D'lin had always been a bit of a heavy sleeper and while the shifting and moving of the bed brought him to a semi-conscious state, he wasn't yet fully awake and for the most part he could continue to blissfully ignore it and continue on sleeping. Until Plexith decided to butt in anyways.
You need to get up. The dragons voice told him firmly and D'lin groaned slightly, he was tired, a good bit more tired then he normally was - like he'd spent half the night up drinking wine or something. 'Theres no practice this morning Plex..leave me alone' He told his dragon, pulling a handful of covering over his head as though that could actually muffle his dragons voice.
Plexith and Very well...but Zaybreth is going to be very upset if you keep smothering her rider The dragon told him in a rather smug tone, which was precisely the same moment that Ralae poked him and spoke. The events of last night came flooding back in vivid detail and his head shot up. Not wine then.
II think he's up now Plexith told the green dragon gleefully as D'lin blinked at Ralae for a moment before rolling off her "I am so sorry...for uh..for not waking up and uh..." Well what was the proper etiquette for such things, he'd been with other women before of course but this was his first flight..and his mind filled in that this was her first time period. He blushed slightly. "What I mean is...I doubt this was what you had planned" could you really plan something like a dragon rising...he didn't think so, so he scratched his head and backpedaled a bit. "I just...I hope it wasn't to awful for you" He finished lamely.
Might want to tell her your name...
'Well your just full of helpful advice this morning aren't you?' D'lin responded only to get a flood of emotion that let him know that his dragon was finding this all very amusing. None the less his advice was good. "I'm D'lin...rider of bronze Plexith" He introduced himself.

Ralae blinked as the stranger rolled off of her and then proceeded to insert his foot into his mouth. Blinking and trying to comprehend what he was talking at her, she was finally able to understand that he was D'lin, the bronze was Plexith, and they were both just as confused as she was... Or rather, Plexith was just as pleased as Zaybreth and D'lin confused like Ralae. Pulling the furs up to her small chest, she tried to respond.
But found she had no idea what to say.
Oh stop being silly. She is Ralae and I am Zaybreth. We are from Malvren. I certainly enjoyed myself. The forest green dragon crooned at the bronze and looked very pleased with herself.
"Yes. I'm Ralae. And, um, like Zay said we are from Malvren. And uh, as for um..." She was scarlet red and nervous. He was at least a turn or two older than her and like he just said, more experienced. She blurted before thinking,"Somehow I thought there would be more to it. I mean, from what the other girls said it was a lot more... More," she finished lamely.
Awful? Awful? Ralae had nothing to compare it to so since she was not beaten just battered slightly between the legs, she could only assume that it wasn't terrible. "Well... At least the dragons enjoyed themselves."
And then, she realized how that sounded and groaned, covering her face. "I'm sorry. This is all new to me. I mean, I'm from the Weyr but this is not what I was expecting. I didn't choose at Malvren so I guess Zaybreth chose for me."

D'lin was quite frankly at a complete loss for words, I mean he was experienced sure but he'd never been faced with her particular implications about his performance. It rankled a bit to be sure though he told himself that it wasn't her fault and clearly he hadn't taken the ...care..that he normally did. He supposed he could thank Plexith for that - he'd been well caught up in his dragons lust and not thinking much at all about himself or his partner.
Scratching his head he gave her a wry grin and grabbed a stray blanket to wrap abound himself before sitting down across from her on the bed. "If it helps..this was my first flight too" He offered, thinking perhaps they could at least share that common ground while he searched for more suitable words "I am sorry if I hurt you, I wasn't expecting to be so...caught up in Plexiths emotions. I...I think there is more, without the dragons running the show, at least no ones ever complained before" He continued and then realized that likely sounded horribly vain and proceeded to back pedal "Not that I'm implying anything...I mean there haven't been...I'm messing all of this up aren't I?" He finally remarked with a sheepish look. He did want to make her feel better about the whole event..or at least have her go home without that horribly red blush on her face.
'But it is so very rare that mine is so clearly out of his element' Plexith told the green..and everyone else, which of course was part of the reason he chose him in the first place. 'He's not a social butterfly..but he can generally at least speak to a female without blathering on like he is' The bronze continued with his relentless teasing.
'Oh do be quiet Plex' D'lin responded both out loud and mentally as Plexith had made sure his own remarks like Zaybeths were heard by all, purposefully using the oh so hated nick name. 'Plexith' The bronze reiterated with a huff.

Ralae's eyes followed his movements and then widened when he covered himself up. Some how she had seen that part of his anatomy and had forgotten that boys looked much different than girls did between the legs. Then she heard what he said about it being his first flight and felt a little better. He actually didn't look to bad as far as the physical features went and under other circumstances, he might have caught her eye. Feeling silly, she started to laugh. At herself, at him... At the whole situation. It felt good to laugh and get rid of the embaressment and awkward feelings. Finally, she calmed herself and looked at him straightfaced. "I am sorry. Just thinking about the whole thing was too much for me. We are both acting like old aunties & uncles. Well, D'lin. I do appreciate that you were experienced or things might have ended up a little more banged up or bruised. You ever see young canines or herdbeasts going at it? No thank you."
She gave him a genuine smile. "I suppose I should even feel lucky that there were two dragons to chase after Zaybreth or she might have been at it a while. And as far as the experience goes, I promise not to compare any others up against you. Rather unfair afterall, dragons involved."
Zaybreth moved towards the bronze and crooned at him. She kept her words open as she took up from where Ralae left. Do not mind her. She has the habit of speaking before thinking. She means no harm but she is honest. And she means well. I thought you did just fine.

'She's...she's laughing a me' D'lin sent the perplexed thought to Plexith - not that the bronze had been supportive at all in this situation but really who else was he going to share such a remark with?
'well you are sort of making a herdbeast of yourself' Plexith pointed out comically before softening his tone 'But I believe she is merely laughing off her Stress' He added to reassure his rider, which was about the same time that Ralae managed to compose herself a speak again. 'There you see she doesn't think your a herdbeast after all' Plexith piped up though that didn't do much to flag his riders confidence when her next statement was her promise not to compare him to her future couplings and blaming the dragons.
And then the green spoke up and D'lin himself had the urge to giggle just a bit..giggle or groan, he wasn't sure which and opted for running a hand through his hair instead and remarked upon the only thing he could think up a decent response to at the moment or at least a response that wouldn't make him look even more dimwitted "She did fly kind of....loopy?" He responded, recalling Plexith's irritation at the twisting flight.
Plexith twisted his head about to croon a reply at the green. 'She is a fine flier' Plexith agreed just a bit smugly, forgetting his irritation of the flight - after all he had managed to catch her 'Very Agile' He added.
"There is nothing wrong with being honest" D'lin spoke up again though he wasn't sure if he was reassuring the green dragon or her rider "It's an admirable trait" If he were just a bit more on his game he supposed he might have offered to prove himself with a round of non dragon induced fun...but as it where he was thrown off enough that even the thought of suggesting it made his cheeks flush red and his mind scramble for a something else to say, clearing his throat in an attempt to hide the blush he finally spoke again "Can I uh...get you anything? Perhaps ask for some Klah to be sent ?"

I flew most creatively and with style. Zaybreth sat up straighter and flicked her tail. We have all day to stay here. The Weyrwoman said we do not have to return until evening.
Privately, Ralae scolded her dragon. What are you doing? We don't want to impose. D'lin might not even like me. He could be being polite.
Outloud, she continued and tried to sound much more mature. "Zaybreth likes to think herself an artist, she likes to fly in loops and swirls without having...Flight involved. She really is a fine flyer, small and quick." Ralae spoke with the same fondness all riders had for their other halves. The teen did her best to keep her eyes at D'lin's face but she really was curious to see the whole... boy? Man? How old was he anyway? Maybe they should get to know each other. After all, Malvren and Trine would be working together soon. When he blushed red, Ralae wondered what he was thinking about and hoped it was her.
"Yes well. It's one that can get you into trouble. Some people don't like the truth. I would like some klah and sweetrolls. And uh, maybe a shirt? We can talk and learn a little about ourselves. That is, if you want to know about me."
I think he knows that you ramble. Zaybreth snickered.

'It was certainly different from any other green I've seen' Plexith agreed, faintly amused at how proud she seemed to be of her erratic flight. He didn't have a problem with it really - as long as she listened to her wing leader and didn't fly in such a manner during drills of course. Good agile greens had their place in the way of things.
'Creativity can be a good thing' D'lin reminded Plexith privately, a statement to which the bronze agreed - as long as it was done at the proper time which was a sentiment Plexith didn't feel the need to repeat - his rider ,if no one else, knew how he felt about such things after all. Pulling his attention away from Plexith, D'lin gave Ralae a smile "I imagine that's led to some...interesting rides for you," Though privately he thought terrifying and frightening would have been better descriptions - at least in the beginning, he couldn't imagine having to get over a fear of heights while your dragon did loops in the air at the same time.
'Your much better now' Plexith reminded him before..being the dragon he was relaying to the others 'D'lin was afraid of heights...but he's stopped screaming when I dive now...maybe I should try some loops'
"Please don't...and I never screamed....I just..closed my eyes " D'lin stated with a sigh to the bronze before adding privately 'Why don't you make yourself useful and prod someone about the sweetrolls and klah?'. He'd be a bit more worried if he actually thought Plexith would attempt the loops, but he'd be far to afraid of appearing improper in front of the other bronzes. In any case he was relieved when the subject changed and grabbed hold of it was gusto "Right!..shirt" And some clothes for himself might be good too he reminded himself as he dug about beneath the blankets for the trousers that had been so hasty thrown off the night before. finally finding them he managed to pull them on before locating a shirt for Ralae while he continued "And I'd like that, would be odd to ..you know...and then not know anything about each other" He agreed.
He didn't have time to find a shirt for himself before the tray of Sweetrolls and Klah were delivered by a wide eyed candidate who looked more then a bit surprised at having been bossed around by a bronze, but there wasn't any point in worrying with it now. 'I hope you were nice to him' D'lin admonished Plexith who merely huffed back an 'Of course'

Ralae laughed as she dropped the blank to take the shirt from D'lin. Oh yes, she could get to like this fellow right here. A shame that they would be separated by distance and time. Perhaps he would be going on the mission that would be coming up. "Interesting is a good way to put it. There are some incidents that I am sure will be remembered far into our years. Which will be many considering I am about to be sixteen Turns."
Zaybreth looked very smug. Ralae made noises the first time I looped through the clouds.
Grinning, the teen could only shake her head. "Dragons. You think scaring the wits out of us would be a big game to them. It is not a game, I almost wet myself when she dropped like a stone and pulled up right before the feeding pens. That would be one of those incidents."
When the wide-eyed boy arrived with klah, Ralae slipped from the sheets and made appreciative noises. Walking over to D'lin she reached for a mug and inhaled deeply. "This is what I needed. So, you know I am weyrbred, what about you? How did you get the scars that you have?"

"I bet there are" D'lin replied with a slight chuckle of his own - at least they seemed to be past most of the awkwardness of the morning and Ralae seemed like a nice sort of person and pretty to boot so all in all he had to say that Plexith had done pretty well by him this time around. He filed away the bit of information she had given him as well - sixteen wasn't so bad in comparison to himself, though he hadn't been truly worried she hadn't looked much younger then he was which was a good thing - being holdborn he was probably more sensitive about large age gap then some the weyr people were but it definitely would have added to the awkwardness.
Settling the rolls and Klah on the small table he pulled around two chairs and fussed a bit with the settings while he waited for Ralae to join him, sitting down to help himself before she had a chance to do so would just be bad manners, so he spent time making himself look busy so she wouldn't feel rushed, adding to the conversation as he did so "I've recently turned eighteen turns" He shared "And I'm pretty sure I would have remained seventeen if Plexith had done something like that to me" He added with a slight smile, surely he would have expired from a heart attack in the midst of it all.
'you would have been perfectly fine, I'm a fine flyer and I'd never let anything happen to you' The bronze added to the conversation and then glanced at Zaybreth and continued with a good deal of respect in his voice 'And Zaybrth has wonderful control in the air, I would trust her in my wing' Which from Plexith was high praise though D'lin felt the need to point out "We don't have a wing yet Plexith" As the dragons voice had seemed to imply that they led one.
'No..but we will' The bronze replied in a confident tone. D'lin merely shook his head and rolled his eyes slightly - he wasn't entirely sure he wanted the responsibility of such a thing though if Plexith had his way he'd wind up with it anyways. Someday. Turning the conversation back to present things he asked Ralae "So were you born in the weyr?"

Ralae blinked as he sidestepped her question about his scars. Maybe he wasn't paying attention too much to what she had asked. Either way, she sat down, legs crossed, and began to dig in. It wasn't like Malvren couldn't afford to feed its own but when you were Candidates, the biggest or the fastest got the best of everything. And since she wasn't big, Ralae made sure she was fast. "Eighteen turns, huh? When did you Impress? It has been almost two turns for us now. And yes. Born and raised. Good and a bad thing, I suppose. You get used to the life, the dragons, everything else. But everyone is in everyone else's business which can make it hard to keep secrets."
Zaybreth preened. I will paint you when we get back. Ralae lets me keep color pots and I make such nice paintings. You should try color pots. I use my tail to make different colors.
"Zay is a very creative dragon. She makes rock piles and paintings. Even the Weyrwoman had one of her markings. So, if you are not from the weyr, where are you from D'lin?" Ralae laughed at her own joke.

"I've never heard of a dragon doing such things - thats very unique, one of the candidates here at the weyr did a carving of Plexith though, does Zaybreth like to look at art as well?" He asked Ralae - it was certainly interesting that her dragon was so artistic, most of them didn't seem to have an appreciation for such things. 'You are not paying attention at all' Plexith chided D'lin as he completely ignored Ralae's questions and remarks, the dragons remark startling D'lin out of his inner consternation about Plexiths desire to lead a wing ..and likely the whole Weyr...someday. His dragon had always made his thought about such ambitions clear to D'lin but once in a while they still caught him off guard. 'Oh cripes what did I miss?' He asked the dragon while giving Ralae an apologetic look. 'She already told you she was weyr born and asked after your scars' Plexith provided helpfully.
"Sorry..my mind is clicks away" He told Ralae before taking a sip of the klah in hopes it might bring his mind back to the present again. "Plexith distracted me with his..ambitions" He explained thought that seemed like a pale excuse even to him. "I Was born at a small hold" He told her "My father wanted me to become a smith like he was" He motioned to the car "I got the scar in the forge"
Seemingly mollified that his rider was once more paying attention to the lady in front of him Plexith turned his attention back to Zaybreth, preening at her compliments about his looks though a touch unsure of the prospect of painting. 'What do the other dragons say about your creations?' He asked in speculation.

Ralae thought it over as she ate another roll. It was amusing to listen to the one-sided banter that was D'lin and Plexith. A shame they came from different weyrs really. Ah, a smith. Interesting. So he was craft or holdborn then. She wondered if life was really so different outside the weyr. "Well, I know when she was younger, she actually tried to collect other dragons for her shiny collection. Got me into trouble with a friend of mine for taking her brush because it was white and interesting. I don't know if she actually likes art or it just keeps her busy."
"Ambitions? I suppose a bronze rider would have ambitions. Not us. Just want to be in a wing, that's all. So what is a hold like? Were you injured really badly? Are your parents happy you Impressed?" Ever curious and going a mile a minute, Ralae was definitely a bubbly fountain of information and curiousity.
You know. I never asked. Maybe I should. I think that the people like them? This was something that had never crossed the green's mind. And if she remembered, it would be something she would have to work on. Distracted, she looked him over. I do not think I could make your spots.

D'lin chuckled slightly at Ralae's account of Zaybreth's younger days, he could imagine the green running about attempting collect pretty and shiny things "Ah hatchlings, I almost miss those days sometimes - but then I recall the fun of flying and the endless work that hatchlings come with" He mused with a slight smile "And decide that watching the next batch of hatchlings with their chosen will be just fine - let them have the trouble while we sit back and watch the cuteness from afar"
'None of them will be as wonderful as I was' Plexith added in with a proud tone to his voice. "Of course they won't" D'lin agreed "There couldn't possibly be another bronze as good as you" He assured the dragon before turning his attention back to Ralae and her questions.
"Plexith has more ambition then I do" He confessed with a slight shrug. "Hold's are..far more restrictive..and close minded compared to Weyr life. At least mine was" He answered her, somewhat unsure how else to describe it without going into a goodly bit of detail on his family - which was something he'd rather not do. D'lin liked to avoid thinking about his family when he could - let alone talk about them.
'Well she doesn't know that...and you can't be rude and not answer..again' Plexith informed him privately and D'lin inwardly cringed though he couldn't really argue it. "It hurt, but it wasn't anything too serious" He told her, though he couldn't quite bing himself to share with her that it had been his own clumsy fault to begin with "But uh..no I don't think they were to be honest - my father was quite set on me becoming a smith"
Plexith tilted his head slightly and stretched a wing out to better show off the patterning on them "well..." He started "I suppose they are quite intricate."

"I miss how small she was, Zay has always been tiny in size. Like me I suppose; no matter how much I eat, I am definitely not getting much bigger." And she bit into another roll to emphasize that remark. This was going much better than her original plan of trying to sneak off while he looked the other way.
I think you are pretty wonderful now. Zaybreth chirped.
Ralae simply ignored her dragon and listend to D'lin comments. Not too ambitious, huh? Maybe he was just one of those people who wanted to fly. Not that Ralae blamed him, she personally didn't care to be responsible for everyone. Nope, just herself and Zay would do! When he skimmed over the hold life bit, she was going to let him drop it but he stuttered further on and she thought it kind of cute. "Well, good thing you weren't crazy about it, now you have Plexith! Which is much better than being hunched over all day. As for me, I think I might have trained as a Runner or something. I like knowing what is going on."
When Plexith stretched his wing, Zaybreth got up to try and look over his spot. There were many of them and she found them quite interesting. I can make lots of spots! Ralae can help me. She does the little stuff my tail won't do.
