Jiwe's paws were starting to ache...she'd been wandering about rather aimlessly for what felt like forever though in reality was probably only a week or so. She'd probably still would have been wandering about like that if a passing conversation hadn't pointed he in the direction of a near by pack.
A pack sounded nice, provided of course they were the good type of pack...Jiwe didn't want to lend her name to anything that would be considered..distasteful. But to have a home and a pack again...it was something she longed for. Dogs were not meant to roam the wilds alone and her heart was lonely for the company of her own kind. It was enough of a reason to stop and look and hopefully...if it all worked out...if they accepted her..to stay.

Alone like usual the male hovered over a lone plant sprouting up from the hard earth. "You can do it little one." He murmured nosing the little plant back upright. Sitting back the treeshaper sighed and looked around him. There was still so much more work to do. But it was better now.
Ears twitching the dog paused and looked around. Was there someone else out here on the boarders? Ah-hah! There was. But what were they doing out here? Another new comer or just someone leaving the pack? Wait if they were leaving then they wouldn't be coming towards him now. Jeesh. Shaking his head the wild dog stood and started to walk towards the approaching dog, "Hey there!"

Jiwe's ears swiveled as she heard the voice of another dog nearby - it seemed that she had been so caught up in her own thought that she hadn't even noticed the pale grey dog. Mentally scolding herself for such a lapse in observation she altered her path to make her way towards him. At least he seemed friendly she told herself, imagine if she had had such a lapse in the presence of someone less then savory - and the implications that went along with that thought were enough to make her mentally promise herself to keep a better eye out.
Then again she had made such promises before, but like every mortal creature she was bound to make mistakes from time to time and these little jolts of reality were a good way to refresh her memory. Putting a warm look on her face Jiwe wagged her tail slightly in greeting as she approached "Greetings" She told him "Are you from around here? Or merely passing through?" Perhaps he could give her some better directions then the vague 'that'a way' she'd gotten from the rogue.

Silverleaf studied the other dog with faint interest. Was she looking for the pack? He could help her there if she wanted, but the dog paused. What if she didn't want help or wasn't lost? Perhaps he would just be insulting her sense of directions? Yet if she was lost then he should help her. Hmm. This was a delima. Eh, he would probably end up asking her if she was lost anyway. Unless she brought it up first.
Refocusing he smiled warmly at the stranger, "Actually yes." Silverleaf nodded, "I live quite close to here, in a pack actually." Maybe others would be wary of strangers but this dog was quite open to the female. Not to mention she had greeted him warmly, that was enough for Silverleaf to not worry about her. Blinking he looked back at her, "What about you, are you just passing through?"

Jiwe shifted her paw slightly , so he was part of the pack she had heard lived in theses parts - well it was good to know that he had been heading in pretty much the right direction afterall, and the dog in front of her seemed like a fairly friendly fellow which could only bode well for the pack. Of course she had heard the pack was fairly open and good natured but Jiwe wasn't the type to take statements like that without a grain of salt - the males apparent good temper did much to lend credence to the remarks however.
"I..I'm not sure yet" She confessed after a few moments. "I've been looking for a pack, and was told there was one here with a good reputation..but its hard to know what rumors are true and which are not until you get there" She told him with a wan smile.

Silverleaf was staring off into the distance thoughtfully when she first spoke. But as her words registered the dog looked back at her with interest, "Not sure?" He smiled back, "Oh! So you are looking for a pack!" He chuckled, "I understand your position. Sometimes things change as more and more others start passing the news along."
He paused and finally just shook his head, "I won't be the one to tell you what to think of the Peke Na. Rather I'll take you there if you wish and you can decide for yourself what type of place it is." Hopefully she would like it here. She probably would. Thought the dog with a smile. After all it was his home and he couldn't think of any where else that he would want to live. So how could she hate it?

Jiwe was pleased that he understood so easily, she hadn't wished to try and explain herself or her words in a more detailed fashion when truthfully ti just wasn't necessary - she had never been all that fond of unnecessary drivel or small talk. She also found herself rather liking him for his second remark - it was nice and rare to meet someone who was willing to let others make up their own minds about things. All to often those one met in their travels spent most of their time trying to make everyone around them think and believe and act in the same manner they themselves did. It got tiresome...and so this dogs attitude was a welcome change of pace and she gave him a warm look. "I appreciate that" She told him without elaborating on what exactly it was she appreciated - truthfully she appreciated both.
"Will you tell me a little of the pack as we go?" She asked him, while she did indeed want to make up her own mind about the place she didn't want to stumble in and offend them in some manner through ignorance of their traditions.

The male was watching her quietly, though his mind was a loud mix of questions. Why was she coming here? Why the Peke Na? Would she like it? So many questions and so little answers...Silverleaf blinked at her and smiled, "Great. Then I'll lead the way." Turning he took a step towards the pack lands before pausing at her question.
"Certainly." He smiled at her, "The Peke Na is a rather peaceful pack of wilddogs. Most of the pack focuses on the Now rather than the past or future. Everything that is happening now is what is happening, not what will happen or what has happened. It's the present that drives many here." Silverleaf nodded though he himself was a bit off from that norm. He didn't blame the past on anyone, but sometimes the future tended to haunt him. Not too badly though so the Now tended to work just fine for him. It was only in the roguelands that he really had to think ahead of the Now.
That reminded him, "The Peke Na believes in soul names. They are not to be told to anyone." He looked over at her, his gaze honest and serious. "I leave my name from the roguelands in the roguelands and in the pack I have a new name - a wolf name, Silverleaf. It's best if you do the same. And don't worry if your wolf name doesn't come to you straight away it's okay. Not to mention that the others will help." He laughed softly to himself, "I'm sure that if you wish to live amongst us then your wolfname won't take too long to find."

Jiwe turned tofollow him as he started to lead the way only to pause herself when he did."Peaceful is alway good" She commented quietly, she wasn't to sure how she would learn to live in the now as he explained - but perhaps with the security of a pack..were she wouldn't have to spend a good deal of her time thinking about things like where her next meal would come from, or where the next safe place to sleep would be, living in the now would be easier.
She decided to chalk that up to something to be learned and not worry with it for the moment - which she thought with a lightly amused inner smile was doing exactly what they would probably tell her to do anyways. "Wolfnames? So I would no longer be.." and she paused before she uttered it with a chagrined look on her face, there you see she'd almost blundered on through and broken one of they're rules already. At least she'd caught herself beforehand thought she had to wonder how hard it would be to remember to answer to a new name...and what in the world would that new name be? Silverleaf had a nice ring to it, she'd be pleased if she or the pack could come up with something half a nice sounding. "Silverleaf is a pretty name" She told him "And I suppose I ought to think on it a bit - can't have everyone calling me 'hey you' forever..." She joked lightly.

Silverleaf smiled warmly at her, "I've always thought so as well." He replied softly before looking back ahead. Peace. A place where he could live working with plants in quiet, yet at the same time could quickly be surrounded by others, by noise. He definitely was happy here. If only other things hadn't chased him from his old home. The dog shook his head -there was no reason to think about that now. Focusing back on the present he peeked back at the other dog.
"Ah. That's right." He grinned, "It's fine, I almost told my soul name to everyone in the pack when I first arrived. It's a bit odd at first, but your new name will soon stick. I promise." His tail wagged at her compliment and the dog laughed softly at her joke, "Guess not."

It was nice to know she wasn't the only one who made such a mistake at first - she'd have to make a conscious effort not to just rattle off her regular name whenever someone asked her who she was, but probably in a moon cycle or so it would probably be second nature to use the new one...whichever that was to be.
"Thank you for showing me the way Silverleaf, and telling me some of the pack traditions - I likely would have made a fool of myself or missed the place completely if I hadn't run into you" She told him sincerely. she imagined there was still lots to learn and try to understand but from all that the other dog had told her so far it was looking more and more like this was indeed a good place for her to settle down, start a life in one place - with no more wandering! It sounded almost to good to be true.
