Kipofu had been through this before, though, last time the festival happened, he was in it being accepted into the Ela’wadiyi lands. The old pridelander remembered that day very much clearly, even though the only sight he had seen was pure blackness. There were days the ex pridelander would wish he would have the ability to see all those around him, but other days he just knew he was blessed not to have been killed by his crazy aunt.

As the commotion all around him, Kipofu’bakhti remained off to the side, listening, trying to remember everything just by sounds. It was a hard task just to remember voices, but it was something he had become accustomed to over the years. He didn’t want to get up, for fear of bumping into someone. Without Lonny here, this was something that would happen more often then before.

When he thought the sounds had died down (were the lions filling out, gathering with their respective clans?) the white and chocolate male decided to chance getting up. He inched forward, listening for any changes around her; this was why he was surprised when he did end up walking into another being. “I’m so sorry!” he said, not knowing what or who he ran into.

She had noticed him some time ago. After debating going over to say hello she'd finally opted to, he just looked so lonely over there by himself! She got up to her paws and headed over, but before she could speak up he was suddenly getting up as well. Kali wasn't fast enough to get out of his way, and there was a harmless bump. "Oh!" Came her startled voice, but she recovered quickly. "Oh, no, no! Not at all, that was my fault. I was coming over to say hello and I think I underestimated how close I was." He might hear the mirth in her tone, but then-- "Are you alright? I've been told I have a pretty hard head."

So it was a female he ran into…great. How was he a gentleman if he bumps into the girls? He wanted to sigh, to groan out in embarrassment, but he didn’t. When he heard her joke about her having a hard head, the lion smile. He figured he’d joke along as well. “Now that you mention it…” he started, his blank gray eyes focusing away from the female. “I’m okay though,” Kipofu had answered after a moment. Even if his ego was slightly hurt, he would recover from it easily. “I don’t think I have heard from you before,” he was careful on his words. He could really use the phrase “seen you before” now could he?

He was awarded with the sound of Kali's laughter, glad that he went with it instead of trying to deny it. It was all in good fun. "I'm from the Wolf clan. My name is Kali Waya, and this is actually my first festival." She sounded happy, but a little sheepish. "I don't think you're from our clan, right? I'm sure I would have met you before if you were."

Kipofu shook his head. “I am from the Bird Clan,” he didn’t know how exactly it came to be a part of the clan, but the world worked in mysterious ways sometimes. “It’s is a pleasure to meet you, Kali Waya,” this female reminded him so much of little Lonny, a frown had unconsciously been placed on his maw; he was quick to replace it however with a smile. “I’m Kipofu’bakhti.” Even though his name was pretty long, he still loved it. After all, his father named him after his fallen mother. “This is my second festival,” something in him liked that the female hadn’t really treated him any differently being blind. But, he thought to himself, maybe she hadn’t realized it. “My first festival was actually the time I was granted permission to stay in these lands.”

"The bird clan! That's exciting, You're the first lion from the Bird clan that I've met!" This was entirely truthful since she'd only met another lion who had just joined that very same day, being sent to the Earth clan. "Kipofu'bakhti, do you mind if I just call you Bakhti for short? Or maybe Kipofu, or Fu, or... well, whatever you want really!" She smiled brightly, though aware that the scars over his eyes probably meant he couldn't see it as well, if at all. Her voice carried it all the same.

She was such a happy lioness, Kip couldn’t help but keep a constant smile on his maw. “Umm…” he stalled slightly. His mother was called Bakhti… “Actually, my father use to call me Kip when I was younger. I know, it’s kind of childish nickname, but it stuck,” it was true, even into adulthood he still referred to himself as Kip. Good old, short and sweet Kip! Being called Fu would probably amuse him, however. “Do you mind if I just call you Kali?” He knew that the Ela tradition was to name your children with a first-last name kind of setting, but the male didn’t even know if she was actually born to these lands. Might has well asked before assuming. “Were you born here?” Sometimes he thought it was a matter of luck where lions were born. To any others, the ability to tell a lion’s lineage would lie just by the tattoos that would lay upon the bodies of the clans, but only seeing black, this lion would just assume everyone he would meet might as well once been a rogue. At least, any lion he would happen to meet on this very day, as it seemed a lot of rogues were granted the same permission to stay in the lands.

"Alright! Kip it is, then! You can call me just Kali if you want, yes." She grinned again, whickers bunching gently as she did. She tilted her head a bit, tail swaying both content and lazy. "Yes, I was. I wish I could travel sometime, but I think I'd miss it here too much even if I did." The lioness purred, coming to stand alongside him. "Were you heading somewhere before we 'met', Kip?" She asked, tone implying that she didn't mind that abrupt meeting at all.

“You’re not missing much,” he said, referring to life on the roguelands. “Nothing out there but terrible lions that would do anything to harm the ones he loved.” He was rather gruff and blunt about the southlands. He hated them after what they had put him through. Sure, there were some lions and lionesses he had met that had helped him when times were tough, but there were also a handful of lions that felt like fighting just for the heck of it. It was like that one bad child in a classroom that had ruined the opportunity for everyone. Kipofu could tell many stories of the rogue lands; sure he couldn’t describe what it looked like, but he sure could tell what it felt like, the sounds, the smells. Everything was different in the rogue lands compared to the pride.

“Truthfully?” He started. “I just thought I was the only one left in the area. If she didn’t know he was blind before, certainly she would know now. Kip could hear the murmurs of lions around him which now told him he had been wrong about being alone. “I try to follow the sounds of the others,” especially the ones he had known were in the bird clan like him, so he could follow them back to the clan lands; otherwise, Kipofu could be lost in the lands for a long time, wandering into other clan territories or even past the ela borders itself.

From the way that he spoke she could certainly tell that he had been jaded by his experiences. Her ears twitched atop her head but did not faulter. "I'm sorry to hear that... I suppose not every place can be as peaceful and accepting as ours." Though truth be told it was usually during the festivals that most outsiders found acceptance. She had spoken with Kiba, a lion who had waited the entire year from the last festival until the current one so that he could be with the lioness that he loved. It was horribly sweet how devoted he was, and proof of how long one's patience could span. Ah, so then completely blinded, how sad... but he didn't seem to be down about it from what she could tell, and she didn't want him to think she just felt sorry for him. "Well, I'm glad you decided to come here and stay. I wouldn't have had the chance to meet you, otherwise." There went that smiling tone again!

Sometimes it was funny how things worked how. For example, if Kipofu had never been blinded, then he probably would still be in the Pridelands; and if that was the case, he would never have met those who influenced his life greatly over the past few years. Even though the male lion could not see anything, the tone, that smiling tone that just would bring a constant light to the darkness had entered his mind. It was creatures like Kali here that made tough situations all the better!

However, a thought did dawn on Kip’s mind. He had ran into her, meaning she was off doing something. “I hope I am not keeping you from anything,” he would feel pretty bad if here he was, chatting with her when she had somewhere else to be.

It was, incidentally, Kali's belief that just being happy and giving someone a genuine, warm smile was sometimes the best gift, not that she was trying to be conceited. "Actually, I came over to talk to you." She stated casually while still sounding perfectly happy with the idea. "I wanted to say hello, you seemed a bit lonely here, or maybe bored, and I thought I'd come introduce myself and see if I couldn't fix that!"

If she were smiling anymore she probably would have been purring from the amount of happiness she was putting off.

While he didn’t really admit openly he was lonely, he was always the one who could be found off to the side of a group, not mingling with the crowds. It was only when another came up and started a conversation would he meet others. (Frankly, he had encountered too many lions that he believed were a he, but were actually a she and vice versa). His smile didn’t falter when she said that she wanted to ‘fix that’. “Thank you,” Kip said quietly, truly appreciating the gesture.

His ears perked forward, “It sounds as if another ceremony is about to start,” even though the festival allowed mingling between clan members, Kip wanted to make sure he would be present at all the ceremonies (even if it just meant hanging around in the back listening) “Would you like to accompany me to watch it?” It would be great if she would, then after maybe the two could continue a conversation after.

Kali perked up, her head lifting from the relaxed position. "Oh? Yes! I'd love to. I'm still learning about all of the different ceremonies. It'll be nice to sit with someone that's already been there for them before!" Yes, he might have been blind then too, but it was the fact that she wouldn't be alone-- so in a way she was also avoiding her own loneliness, a little bit at least. "Shall we, then?" She smiled once more, nudging his shoulder lightly with her nose.

At the nudge on his shoulder, Kip had actually turned in the direction of the female, before rising to his feet. He could listened to the sounds when she began walking, making sure he stayed just close enough to still feel her presence. Maybe this would be the first of many occasions the male could talk to the female. She seemed like she would be a great friend for him.
