Adongo led the way back to the den. He had been on the search for Wingu since early this morning and had finally found him in the middle of a very panicked cape buffalo herd. How Wingu kept getting into situations like this Adongo couldn't understand. Well no that wasn't true, he did understand but it was still something he had to shake his head at. "You need to pay more attention to where you are going Wingu. Your mother doesn't like it when you wander off like that."

Imagine him scolding a full grown lion as it he were a mere cub. But that's really what Wingu was, he may have the body of an adult but his mind was more like that of a child, never paying attention to where he was going and always having his head in the clouds so to speak. "You could have been seriously hurt back there." He continued as they walked, Adongo was returning him to the den, not the den he shared with Fara no but Wingu lived in a den that was only a few lengths away from theirs. It was the only way they could keep their eyes on the male and make sure he stayed out of trouble.

With his head lowered Wingu took in yet another round of being told he had been doing something wrong. He had only meant to go visit his brother and his family today. How was he supposed to know he would end up in the middle of a buffalo herd like that? Granted he hadn't been paying attention, his eyes had been on the clouds and it wasn't until he had been nearly run over by a cow did he realize where he was. Of course he was then too afraid to move and had hunkered down amidst the chaos praying that someone would rescue him. That was when Adongo had showed up to save him - again.

"I'm sorry Papa." Wingu said in a dejected voice. He had started calling Adongo 'Papa' not long after the male came to live with Mama. He could see how happy mama was with him and so it just came natural to call him papa even though he wasn't his father. The closer they got to the den the lower Wingu's head got, knowing that he was in trouble. Mama would be so disappointed.

Fara had been pacing back and forth before the den for what seemed like forever to her frazzled mind - who would have thought she'd still be raising a sun, a large fully grown son a that...but here she was, pacing and worrying and waiting for her estranged wayward son to return home. At least she had Adongo to help now - previous trips to find Wingu had always been frantic trips out only to circle back to the den in case he returned, a cycle was repeated over and over again until he found him.

With Adongo here now one of them could stay at the den in case he wandered back home and the other could go out looking for him. A rustle of grass stems caught her attention and turning about she caught sight of not only the brown pelt of Adongo but the blue patches of her son as well "Oh! thank the gods! you've found him!" She cried, bounding forward to meet them.

Hearing Fara's voice was like music to his ears, it meant they had made it home without any additional incident. Plus it was also so good to see his mate. Bringing his paws to a stop he smiled at her and then glanced over at Wingu, who looked downright miserable but at least he was safe. "Seems he wanted to go visit his brother but failed to ask us to bring him there." He would make sure that in the next day or two they do just that and visit Tamu and his family. "He's a bit shaken up but should be fine." He decided not to tell Fara just where he found Wingu or else it would possibly send her into a total panic and never let Wingu out of her sight ever again.

Wingu;s ears pulled back against his skull as his mother approached. Head ducked even lower, if it was even possible as it was nearly touching the ground and is and his eyes looked up at her. "I'm sorry mama. I just wanted to see them." And then he looked away, lowering his voice. "I thought I could make it there on my own." He glanced between the other two adults, he just didn't see why he needed to be escorted everywhere, but they insisted upon it.

"Your not mad are you?" He hoped not, he hated when mama was mad or upset with him, simply because he tried his hardest to not do anything that would put her in those moods. But with his head eternally in the clouds it was hard to do just that.

Fara sighed slighty and gave Adongo a grateful look before sepping over to her miserable looking son and giving him a loving lick on the forehead "Oh Wingu, what am I going to do with you?" She asked him quietly. For a long time she'd waited for him to grow up and loose his childish ways, perhaps to find a girl and settle down the way his brother had, but as time went by she had a feeling such thing were not in her sons future and what female would want a mate such a he? Perhaps another equally childish creatures - but Fara did not think she could take care of two of them and then one had to think of the well being of they're cubs...would Wingu's condition be passed on to them?

She loved her son, quite unconditionally...but she was sometimes surprised that Adonga had chosen to put up with him, many male wouldn't she knew and she had yet to find a pride who would. In any case and butted first Wingu and then Adongo lovingly. "Perhaps we can go and visit Tamu and Nyota tomorrow" She suggested in an effort to cheer up her son and with a glance at Adongo to see if he agreed 'It is to late to set out for their dens now"

Adongo watched as Fara spoke quietly to Wingu for a moment. What were they to do with a lion who would clearly never grow up? Would they have to watch over him for the rest of their lives? He didn't mind completely, though it would be nice to have some true alone time with Fara every now and then. When Fara stepped forward and butted her head into him Adongo let out a rumble and pushed his head into hers. "Of course, we shall all go and visit them tomorrow." His eyes turned to Wingu for a moment. "I'm sure they will be excited to see us. Now it's getting late and you've had a long day already, you best get some sleep." The sooner Wingu retired to his dent he sooner he could talk with Fara in private and have some quality time with her.

To be honest Wingu wasn't sure how to reply to his mothers question, so he stayed quiet but was quite relieved when she didn't appear mad. Upset perhaps but not mad. Mention of going to visit his brother tomorrow seemed to get him out of his sad daze and his head snapped up and looked at Adongo anxiously awaiting his reply. "We can?" He asked excitedly, oh he couldn't wait until tomorrow! He missed his brother so much and absolutely loved playing with his niece and nephew.

Of course when Adongo told him it was time to go to bed he frowned slightly but couldn't help admit that he was tired. "Okay." He stepped forward and gave them both a nuzzle before padding off to his den. "Goodnight mama, papa." He called out to them once he had reached his den and then slipped inside. Sleep wouldn't come easy to him, as the excitement of going to see his brother would keep him awake for some time now, but nonetheless he curled into a ball and tried his best to sleep.

"Goodnight Wingu" Fara replied as her son bade them goodnight - it was nice the way he called Adongo papa even thought they both knew he wasn't. The fact that they both accepted one another so readily made things all the more easier for Fara, she loved Adongo...but Wingu was her child and having to choose between them would have been heart wrenching at the very least.

As her son disappeared from view Fara turned her attention back to Adongo 'I hope he didn't make you wander to far looking for him" She said with a slight sigh. Most of the time Wingu was fairly well behaved - but once in a while he forgot and wandered off and a little voice in the back of Fara's mind kept telling her that someday Adongo would get tired of those sporadic chases and give up on the bot of them.

Adongo watched as Wingu went off to his den and gave him a final smile before turning his attention to Fara. "Not too far this time. He gave her a bump with his head and then walked a distance from the den, he wanted to talk with Fara but wanted it to be in private, as private as they could manage with Wingu in his den not far off. Once he was satisfied that they had walked enough he rolled onto his haunches and let out a sigh. It was tiring to chase after Wingu so often, but he loved Fara and because of that he put up with her sons constant wandering.

"I think we need to find a pride Fara. It's getting harder for the two of us to keep an eye on him. With more eyes Wingu will have less of a chance of running off and getting hurt." Not only that but life in the rogue lands was tough, he didn't mind it so much but he wanted to make sure Fara and Wingu were safe and a pride would give them that security. It would also ease the burden of hunting as well. Not to mention if they wanted to have a family of their own one day it would be difficult to watch over young cubs while still chasing after Wingu. Problem was, finding a pride that would be willing to accept Wingu as well, adults were expected to pull their weight not spend the day chasing clouds and butterflies.

Fara followed after Adongo as he wandered off from the dens - this usually meant he had something to say that he didn't want Wingu to overhear and that worried her - but then again there were many such subjects and not all of them were bad she told herself firmly.

Of course the topic he did bring up was a bit in the middle of those two options and Fara sighed lightly "I have thought about it - I know it would be easier" he admitted..but how would she find a place willing to accept Wingu? A place where he would be understood and not bullied or made fun of or used - he was for all essences a child and children were easily used for less then savory means if they're parents weren't careful. "But where would be go? I haven't yet found a place willin to accept WIngu and I can't just...leave him here..he can't even hunt properly" And she refused to shove him off on hi brother and his mate - Fara was sure Nyota and Tamu would look after him but it didn't seem very fair for her to do such a thing with they're new family.

Adongo shook his head. "I don't know, but we have to find something. Surely there is a pride out there somewhere who will accept him for who he is." Placing his chin on top of Fara's head he gave it a rub. "I would never ask you to abandon him, but we can't spend out entire lives chasing him down whenever he runs off." It was really a predicament that they were in, but he was certain that if they looked long enough that they would find someplace where he could live. "It's not something that needs to be rushed, but the sooner we start looking the better chance we have of finding something."

Pulling his head back he looked into her eyes and then gave her cheek a lick. "Fara I want us to have a family some day, cubs of my own, but I fear that isn't a possibility while we are still out here with Wingu."

"I know...I know" She replied after he had finished talking - and she did know. She knew that he would never ask her to abandon Wingu and she knew that having more cubs, starting a family with Wingu still to look after was nearly an impossibility. How could they watch cubs if Wingu was constantly wandering off - she loved her son and it wasn't his fault but he did make life difficult sometimes.

"It's not really safe for us to stay out here in the rogue lands" She agreed "Especially if we do want to start a family" She admitted "I've known that for a while - I just didn't know what to do about it" She admitted with a soft sigh. "But your right , we ought to start looking for something..." It might very well be a long search she knew but hopefully in the end all this effort would be worthwhile.

"The only thing we can do is to start looking, talk to as many prides as possible. I know there will be some place for him to live, a pride that will overlook his childish ways and then we can settle down." Adongo wanted to find a place to live that had more security than our here, not just for Wingu's sake but Fara's as well. She had lived out here for far too long, and he wanted to give her something better than that. In the back of his mind he thought that perhaps he could return to his family pride, they would likely accept Wingu but then again the jungle was not much safer than the rogue lands and trying to find the wayward male in the thick trees would be next to impossible. Out here in the open, while dangerous as it was, they could at least see him from a distance.

He decided to drop the subject for now as they had both agreed it would be safer. "So are you excited to see your grandchildren again?" He was, even though they technically weren't his grandchildren, they were his extended family through Fara and he would treat them like family. "I bet they have grown quite a bit since last you saw them."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 10:36 am

Fara nodded and was thankful when the subject was dropped in favor of something else - it wasn't that she didn't want to talk about finding a pride anymore or that she didn't realize the importance o it - quite the contrary..but they'd reached a decision and it seemed a bit pointless to spend the rest of their time alone beating the subject to death.

Rather it was far better to speak of good things and she smiled at Adongo "I do love going to visit them, hough it is still funny to look at Nyota and Tamu..and find little Siri nestled in between them, nothing wrong with taking after her grandmother though I suppose...though it is too bad theo ther side of the family does not think so" Fara had of course heard of Nyota's family and the troubles they caused.

Adongo chuckled, yes it was funny to see the fully brown cub amidst her family. Though granted Siri and her brother were no longer cubs and were growing up fast. "Clearly they don't see the beauty that you and Siri have." He thought Nyota was beautiful too in her own way, and it was a shame her old pride had been so uptight about things. "We should be glad that Siri and her brother are not being raised within the restrictions of Nyota's pride, it would be no place for such a wonderful girl to live." For there she would be the lowest of low, all due to gaining her grandmothers coloring and Siri was an intelligent girl who deserved so much more than that.

He idly wondered what his brother was up to, he had not seen or heard from Apiyo since they parted ways after he found a life with Fara. Would his brother find love or return to their old pride as a single bachelor? Suppose he wouldn't know for certain until news reached him.

Fara gave Adongo a warm look at his words, it was nice to be thought of a beautiful again. Fara had been alone for quite a while before Adongo had come along to relieve her of that burden and never had she been more grateful for anything in her life - except perhaps the births of her firstborn children, they would always be special to her - even those whom had left with they're father. Perhaps one day she would find them again.

In the mean time however she had the family she knew to keep track of and that family had grown and likely would again thanks to Nyota and Tamu. "And yes we should - though I don't think we have heard the last of them, Siri's brother has purple on him remember, Nyota fears her mother will come looking for the boy. Thankfull he is old enough now that she can't simply snatch him in the night" he shivered at the thought.

That was true, the boy did have some purple on him and as long as Nyota's mother knew that he was in danger. At least he was older now, he could make the decision for himself on whether to go or stay with his family. "I don't think Nyota would let her mother take him without a fight. She wants better for her children than what that pride offers." Yes the boy would be considered a noble, but from what Nyota had told them if was far from a perfect life. Adongo let out a yawn and realized how late it was getting. "We had best get some sleep, Wingu will likely be up early and eager to go see Tamu." And they needed to make sure he didn't wander off before they themselves were awake.
