It hadn't really taken them long to get settled in they're new den - a quick bit of nosing around and a look see outside to make sure they could find the place again and for the most part they were set. It wasn't like she'd brought along hoards of items to decorate the den with after all - no she'd have to find such things here, it was too hard to travel with that sort of stuff and really those were the sort of things you did once you had an actual home...not something you bothered with when you were still looking for such a home.
In any case it wasn't to long after Avila left them that Ubora had proposed a walk - to better acquaint themselves with they're neighbors and the surrounding area. Apiyo had agreed rather quickly, mostly she suspected so that he could check out the surrounding area and make guard like mental notes about it..but she didn't mind and it was a good pleasant walk.
In the end they had ended up a bit outside the Temple as the sun drifted down towards the horizon, painting the sky with numerous shades of color as they watched. It was a good end to a good day Ubora thought to herself and she sighed in contentment as she sat beside Apiyo in the sand.

Once they had been certain they could find the den again Ubora and Apiyo went on a walk around the temple. They chatted to a few pride members as they did so, and they seemed just as friendly and helpful as Avila had been, certainly reconfirming that they had made the right choice to come and live here. Apiyo concentrated deeply as they walked, memorizing faces, names and locations, all things that came naturally to him and his guard like tendencies. When at least they left the temple to sit down and enjoy the sunset on their first night here everything seemed perfect. Ubora's content sigh made his smile widely as he turned his eyes from the colorful sunset to the lioness beside him. "Is it as beautiful as you hoped it would be?"

Ubora glanced over at Apiyo as he spoke, momentarily taking her eyes off the sunset so that she could speak with him. "I think so" She allowed "It's certainly not disappointing" She added, casting her eyes back to the sunset for a few moments. It was really too bad that sunsets didn't last longer, sure a blue sky was nice in its own way but nothing could really compare to the colors at sunset.
"What about you?" he asked Apiyo "Is the pride what you expected it to be so far? The desert?" Of course for all she knew he might have been to the desert before - or even grew up in one "Have you ever been to a desert before?" She asked in a questioning manner wondering if perhaps this might get him to talk about his past a bit. They really ought to know each other just a bit better then they did now if they were going to officially share a den...

When she looked at him his eyes locked with her deep brown ones and for a moment her had totally forgotten about the sunset. In their time traveling he had always thought Ubora to be a beautiful lioness, but here and now, with the colors of the sunset dancing in the background she looked stunning. "The most beautiful thing I have ever looked upon." He said while his gaze was still upon her. Apiyo then turned back to what remained of the sunset. "I suppose it is what I expected, though one can never be certain of what can be expected until they arrive. Rumors were one thing, they could be truthful or complete lies."
"I will get used to having the grittiness of the sand beneath my paws, but I think it will be worth it in the end." Turning his attention away from the sunset and back to Ubora he continued. "I have been to a desert once before, though only passing through. Spent most of my life in a jungle surrounded by trees, lush plants, wide flowing rivers and very little open space." He fell silent for a moment, in all their travels he had stayed silent most of the time, only offering a few words here and there, but not he felt like opening up to Ubora and sharing his past and present with her, which would lead to a future together if it worked out. "What about you?"

Ubora ducked her head slightly as he spoke - that was the second time she was pretty sure that he'd made a comment like that on purpose, the first of course had been back when they decided to share a den together. She hadn't gone out of her way to fall of Apiyo...she'd just truck up a friendship with him on the road so to speak and with no place for either of them to go they'd wound up traveling together. she actually couldn't recall exactly when she'd begun to look forward to seeing him when she woke up - or reveled in the way they worked together while hunting. It had been a gradual growth and she thought that was far more beautiful then a rushed love at first sight type of thing anyways.
Besides...it seemed to be fate that they meet on the road like that and who was she to deny the gods when they decided to pair them together? Not that she'd go right out and say that of course...Apiyo liked her and she liked him sure but it was still a bit early to be declaring undying love. She gave him a warm mile to let him know she appreciated the compliment before laughing lightly "Yes I expect before long it will be normal' he remarked in regards to the sand comment.
"A jungle hmm? IThe pride I grew up in lived on the edge of a jungle - though it was fairly wild and I wasn't allowed to enter it when I was young, by the time I would have been old enough I had already left home"

He smiled a bit wider when he noticed her ducking her head at his comment, though they had been together traveling for some time it was only since coming here did he say any comments about her beauty or hint at staying together. He supposed it was knowing that they were in a secure place with less to worry about that he felt confident enough to say such things. "It is not the only thing we will need to get used to." He added idly, hinting at their new living arrangements as well as the specifics of the pride itself.
"Jungles are generally a dangerous place, plenty of places for things to hide, it is no wonder your pride did not wish you to venture in there at a young age." He remembered a time or two in his youth that he and his brother had gotten into a sticky situation because they hadn't been paying attention to where they were going or what they were walking towards. "So why did you leave?" He asked and then added. "If you aren't comfortable talking about it I understand." He didn't want to force her to talk about something that may be upsetting, just trying to learn more about this lioness he was living with.

"No, I suppose it's not" She agreed after a few moments to savor the implications of his words, though he didn't think it would be too terribly difficult to get used to either the Pride or living for real with Apiyo, the Pride of course would take allot of learning and study in order to get the customs and daily routine down pat - but Ubora had never considered such things work, in fact she was looking forward to it, she supposed it was part of the excitement of joining a new pride.
"Yes, and easy to get lost in I hear" She remarked with a slight nod while mulling over how to answer his more sensitive question. "Well, honestly I never felt like I belonged there - my siblings, now they all fit the pride perfectly, they were crude and lustful and full of vices I always found..distasteful." She admitted with a slight sigh "I grew up thinking there had to be something more to the world then they're wanton greed and immortality, I felt like somewhere there had to be something beautiful and lovely and kind..and that where I wanted to live my life...so I left"

Apiyo lowered himself down to lay in the sand as the sun continued it's descent, soon it would be dark out and they would need to retire to their den for the night. "It is indeed to get lost in the depths of the jungle." He confirmed, having been there one or twice himself as well as having helped to find lost members before as well.
"Sounds like an unpleasant place to have grown up. Looks like it was for the best that you left, I can't imagine you in such a place." Glancing up at her he decide to fill her in on why he left his home. "I left my home not too long before I met you. My brother and I set out together, it was somewhat of a custom for those who have reached adulthood to venture out into the world. See what they wanted to see and either return or stay away." He remembered the day he left with Adongo as well as they day he bid his brother farewell. "We traveled for some time together, visiting as many places as we could. One day we split up, traveling in different directions and planned to meet up together a month from that day. Turns out in that month he found himself a mate to settle down with, so he went to live his new life and I went back to wandering. I felt lost at first without him, Adongo and I were always together, part of being twins I suppose. Shortly after I met you and well the rest you know."

"It was, though I expect for those who fit in it would have been fine, my parents were selfish and greedy..but not abusive for the most part - they just didn't understand me" She told him, her home pride hadn't been the place for her to live but that didn't mean it didn't suit some lions and she didn't want him to think that she'd grown up being smacked around or anything all the time. If he though that he'd never let down his guard, he'd let his protective nature take over completely.
Listening to his story he felt a bit sad - though it sounded like hi brother had found the right path for him, and surely things would work out here for she and Apiyo that didn't mean that loosing family wasn't hard and she lowered her head to butt it against his shoulder in a friendly fashion "I'm sorry, I'm sure you miss him - but you know where he is right? we can always go and visit him"

"There are places for every type of lion out there, sometimes it just takes time to find it." She may not have fit in with her old pride but something told him this new place would be the perfect fit...for both of them. And while he missed his old pride there was nothing truly special about it, nothing compared to here or other places he had seen.
Her touch was comforting and he turned his head to gently bump his nose against her to show his appreciation. "I do miss him, though I like to think that because we have always been so close he's never really that far away." Apiyo nodded. "Yes I know where they live. I think you would get along with his mate, she's quite nice." While he had only met Fara once, when he bid farewell to his brother to set out on his own she was friendly and offered to let him visit anytime he wanted.

Ubora made an agreeable noise to his comment about a place for everyone, she thought the sentiment was true though in her travels she had met many Lions and other species who would not agree - but that was they're own doing if they wished to sit and wallow in they're self pity rather then doing something about it then her words would hardly have changed the're minds.
"That is a nice thought" She commented with a warm look "I do not know what became of my siblings - but were were never very close to begin with so it is no big loss" She confided. in truth she hardy even thought of them anymore and she doubted they missed her all that much either, they were likely happy gallivanting about with the rest of the pride. That was fine with Ubora - she would be happy here.
"We should make it a point to go and visit him once in a while then" She stated with a nod "I'm sure he would be happy to see you and I would like to meet his mate, perhaps once we've settled in here we can go on a little vacation to celebrate"

"I cannot imagine not being close with siblings, it must have been hard, even if they were completely different from you." He had been close with his other siblings, but the bond between him and his brother was so much more than that. "Just know that here there are plenty of lions who care about you." In their short time in the pride he had seen how the pride cared for one another, formed bonds quickly and those bonds would likely last a life time. "I care for you, I want to make sure you are always happy and protected." There he was talking about protecting others again, but it was so natural his father had always made sure he and his family knew the importance of protecting those around them.
"Yes, I think a vacation to visit them is a good idea once we are a bit more settled here. And perhaps they can come visit us as well." That would be nice, to not only see the his brother and mate in his new home but for them to see where Apiyo was making a life for himself - no not just for himself but with someone.

of course it was somewhat silly or them to be talking about vacations when they'd only just gotten here - but Apiyo's relationship with his brother was an important one and Ubora didn't want him to think he'd said farewell to his brother forever, surely the Pride would be fine with them going to visit family once in a while and hopefully they wouldn't mind family coming to visit here either - perhaps she would ask someone about it when she got the chance. "It is hard for me to imagine being super close with my siblings" She told him with a smile "It is all dependant on how you grow up I expect." Ubora rather hoped her own cubs would someday be close - but that was something to think upon for the future, certainly not anything to be thinking about right now - sheesh give her a pride and here she was going all domestic.
"That would be nice" She agreed before glancing about just now noticing that at some point during they're talk the sun had gone completely down and they were now sitting in darkness "Hmm, we should probably be heading back"

Apiyo nodded, yes so many things depended upon how and where one was raised. While not all influences effected others, as demonstrated by Ubora's description of her family and how different it was compared to the lioness it did in effect shape her into who she was today.
"Yes I suppose we should head back." Apiyo got his head paws and gave his muscles a bit of a stretch. They had been traveling for days on end, trying to get here and it would be nice to sleep in a real den for once, no more sleeping in whatever den or small shelter they could find. "You think we can find our den in the dark?" He asked. Our den, it felt a bit weird to say yet was also so fitting, they had both hinted at their life together especially now that they had a place to call home. The future was looking up.

Ubora smiled at him in the darkness and gave a little chuckle as they headed back towards the dens "I sure hope so" She said 'It would be a shame to get a real nice, cozy den..only to spend the night out on the sand" She finished with a laugh.
As it turned out it wasn't really all that hard to find they're den - all they really had to do was follow they're noses to be truthful, even in the dark they were able of following they're path back to the den and really - it wasn't all that difficult to find ones way around anyways - for being so large and spectacular looking the Temple was laid out surprisingly well and the two were safety within the den only a few minutes later.
