Laixi held onto Chusi's hand tightly, walking with Basil to work. Chusi chewed on her other hand, lightly bouncing up and down and humming a random tune, shaking Laixi. Basil walked beside the two with his hands in his pockets looking straight at the concrete bellow (and occasionally to Chusi to make sure she hadn't wobbled off somewhere).

"Please let her stay at work with you!" Basil pleaded, getting in front of him and walking backwards, gazing into Laixi's un-sympathetic eyes.

"For the last time, man, the answer is no! The bank didn't like it the last time I looked after her at work; I don't want to loose my job, as much as I like spending time with Chusi."

"Love you, Li li!" Chusi smiled, hugging Laixi's pant leg and hanging onto it as they walked.

"Love you, too, Si Si."

"I can't take her job hunting with me!"

"Ya huh!" Chusi giggled, still holding on tightly to Laixi's leg.

Basil sighed in defeat. It was rude of him to make Laixi take after Chusi every time he looked for a job (which he STILL couldn't find). But what else could he do? It was too dangerous to take her with him; the city was a very dangerous place. He'd thought about day cares, yes, but he was scared to death no one would pay attention to her and they'd forget about her. He trusted Laixi with every fiber of his being and knew that she was in good hands. ...and he wouldn't even dream of letting Brice watch after her... oh, the new vocabulary she would learn...

Basil's back painfully met a telephone pole, sending him crashing to the ground. Chusi giggled, "Daddy, WHAM!"

"Y-yeah..." He got up from the ground and looked at the telephone pole that he had slammed into. On it were several advertisements...one of which was a babysitting ad. "Huh..."

"I know you don't like the idea of a day care, but what about someone babysitting Chusi?"

Basil grabbed the paper triumphantly. "Works for me!"

Following the address on the advertisement, Basil, Laixi, and Chusi finally made it to one of the many beach houses before them (Chusi still hanging off of Laixi's leg).

"I'll go to work right after I meet who's babysitting Si Si." Laixi said, shaking his leg, sending Chusi into a fit of giggles. Basil promptly cleared his voice then rang the doorbell.

Cera was disappointed.

She wasn't sure if it was the economy, or her two-bit add, but something wasn't drawing in the customers like it should. The young adult slumped down onto the couch, a text book in one hand while the other ran over her skirt. She needed to help out as much as she could while she lived here, since everyone was being so nice and helpful with her schooling, but how-

"Oh, coming!" She eagerly tore up off the couch, and sailed down the stairs to the front door, pausing only briefly to check her hair in the hall mirror. With her thousand-watt-smile in place, the Greed spawn opened the door.

...to a gay couple...and the most adorable little pumpkin she had ever seen. "Hello, my name's Cera. Are you looking for a babysitter for you're little darling?"

The door opened to reveal a young woman with beautiful blond hair and...horns. And a tail. A spawn just like Chusi, maybe? Well, who better to babysit a spawn than another spawn? Maybe this wasn't going to be as bad as Basil thought. "Yes, hello, Ms. Cera. My name's Basil, this here's Laixi," he pointed to Laixi who gave a small wave and tried to shake Chusi from his leg, "and this is my daughter, Chusi. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Laixi had been studying up on the different kinds of children from the labs. Cera looked to him like a greed and chastity, if he'd been reading the pamphlets from the labs right. Greed, huh? Laixi sighed and readied his wallet. He leaned over to Basil and whispered, "If my dad didn't own three of the major banks in town, you do realize you'd be screwed, right?"

"It's nice to meet you both," Cera smiled, playing with her the hem of her shirt. This was so very exciting, and intimidating at the same time. What if they didn't like her? What if Chusi didn't like her? "But I'm really excited to meet you." The young adult turned her attention to the little girl currently clung to her father's leg. Something was different about her eyes, but then again, Avani's eyes were like that, so it was alright, right?

"Where are my manners!" She gasped and bowed her head, then scuttled back, holding the door open for them. "Come inside, please. Refreshments are upstairs in the kitchen, and maybe after a cool drink we can talk?"

"Thanks!" Basil politely nodded, pried Chusi from Laixi's leg and was the first to enter the house. He climbing the stairs up to the kitchen, making himself comfortable in one of the bar stools. He sat Chusi in the chair beside him and ruffled her hair.

Laixi sighed, gave Cera a polite nod, and followed Basil up the stairs, sitting on the other side of Basil. "You're supposed to wait until asked to be seated," he muttered.

"Quit being all hoity toity and try to act normal in front of Chusi's possible future baby sitter," Basil whispered back.

Laixi rolled his eyes. "I'll try to act uh...normal, if you try to be polite."

"Fine."

Chusi looked at Cera (who had just followed them to the kitchen), chewing on her hand. She seemed like such a nice lady; she hoped Ms. Cera would be a lot of fun. She didn't seem scary. She didn't feel like she had to hide or not talk around her.

Cera wasn't quite sure to think of the couple, but they were amusing, she would give them that. She followed them up the stairs into the kitchen as quietly as possible, perfectly content to watch the family dynamics at work. Obviously Basil was the 'man' of the relationship, and she had to wonder about other- Cera's face immediately turned red. Shame! Shameful thoughts!

After reaching the second story landing, the young adult scuttled over to the cabinets where she pulled out three glasses and a pink sippy cup. "What would you like to drink? We have lemonade, soda, milk, and I can put on some coffee." She said cheerfully, her hands once again clasped infront of her skirt. "Oh! Hold on one second."

The Greed spawn scuttled out of the room, and returned with a booster seat that she promptly strapped onto one of the barstools. "There we go! You won't have to reach as far now, Chusi." And because of the sides, she also wouldn't bust open her head on the tiles.

"Thank you!" said Basil, setting Chusi in the booster seat Cera provided. "I'll have a coffee."

Laixi looked at his watch and sighed. "I'll call the bank later and tell them I'll be a little late. Besides, I'd like to be here while you two discuss babysitting dates and such. Coffee for me too, please. That is, if you don't mind."

"She doesn't mind, Laixi; she ASKED." Basil said, rolling his eyes.

"You hush."

Chusi bounced as much as she could in the booster seat. "Milk! Milk please!"

"You know," Laixi began, "I've never seen Chusi this bubbly in front of a stranger. She's always so shy until she gets to know people."

Cera paused for a moment, curious as a kitten while watching the couple, then with an embarrassed smile, she sauntered over to the cabinets. "Two coffees and milk, coming up!" The young adult placed two of the glasses back in the dark cabinets, and pulled out two coffee mugs instead.

"Really?" Cera turned, giggling as soon as she saw Chusi. What a little angel! She just wanted to pick her up, and snuggle her, but that didn't really seem all that appropriate at the moment. She started up the coffee, then walked back over, the claws on her feet clipping against the tiled floor. "I would have never guessed. Maybe she sees something she likes? Toddlers are very attuned to things like that, you know."

"Totally," Laixi began, "she was never one to talk unless talked to. And she kinda hid from people."

"I like you!" Chusi proclaimed to Cera, bearing an innocent smile. Chusi saw with auras, or what she called colors. Cera's colors were not frighting in the least. They seemed warm and friendly.

Basil rubbed the top of Chusi's head, "Chewy's more talkative around other spawn."

Laixi nodded in agreement. "True.

Cera giggled and after crossing her arms on the bar, leaned forward. "I like you too, Chusi. I bet you're a kindness spawn, right?" Even if she wasn't, the urge to cuddle her was becoming too strong. The only thing stopping her was the business deal about to go down.

"So, you can see where my services would be especially helpful with your daughter." Cera smiled that thousand watt smile, already imaging the money rolling into her bank account. "I have younger siblings as well, all spawn, that she can play and interact with. We live on the beach, so the possibility of going outside is very high, unless there is rain, and I can provide overnight services if you feel the need to be...alone." She flushed.

Chusi nodded with delight. "I'mma kindness!" She spread her arms wide and reached for Cera.

Basil clapped his hands together. "That settles it. A lovely, safe home, other kids for Chusi to play with, and a generous care taker that she seems plumb struck on; this is perfect! We'd be more than happy for you to baby sit!"

Laixi cocked his head to the side. "...over night services? ...alone?" He immediately blushed and covered his mouth. Basil turned around to look at his friend only to give him a very confused look.

Cera scooped the lil' angel spawn from her seat and swept her up into her arms in a flurry of skirts. She braced the toddlers bottom with one arm so she could snuggle up against her all she wanted without causing her any damage. It was strange, Cera wanting to pay this much physical attention to anyone, but toddlers were different. After all, they were innocent, and just little creatures of love.

"Did you hear that Chusi? We're going to be spending all kinds of time together." She smiled. Not only was she going to be watching after such a sweetheart, but she was going to be paid for it. Cha-ching!

And then there was that over-night business. Her smile dimmed to match her embarrassment. "S-sorry, I shouldn't pry. I was just thinking that such a nice couple, like you two, might want a little time alone away from your daughter."

"Yay!" Chusi cheered, snuggling on Cera's shoulder. She was right about Cera's colors; they weren't scary at all, and she was going to really like playing with her! And did she say there were other people here? Oh, she hoped they were nice, too.

Basil almost dropped his coffee mug. Laixi's face turned such a bright red; you'd think it was dipped in a bucket of red paint.

"O-oh-oh. No, no, no, n-no. We're not like that." Basil stuttered, forcing a smile. "Very no. All types of no. We're just real good friends-- used to be college roomates-- very good buddies; right buddy?" He quickly spun around to face his friend.

Laixi looked up, face still red as a brick. He coughed nervously looked around the room. "Yeah. 'Course. I help Basil take care of Chusi. He didn't really have any experience with kids, but I have to younger sisters so he asked for my help. I even helped him name Chusi."
