Earth Clan.
Their Clan. Here in the Ela’wadiyi which soon they would learn to call home. Cassian sat a few paces from the new den, glancing out across the beautiful landscape. It was a pretty place indeed and he was thankful, once more, for the gift of his repaired vision. That goddess had been a blessing, truly. Not only had she gotten Rokopelli to fix his confused mind, but she’d also healed his stigmatism.
Now the blurry, slanted world was replaced by one that was sharp and clean and…and beautiful.
He was a hunter now. A hunter for a pride. Others to care for and protect. It would be a simple life, but that was all he had ever really wanted. Never would he have dreamed that he would have come so far and, in truth, he wouldn’t have if it were not for his beloved friend and new mate Illena. Admitting his feelings would always come hard for the male, and it had certainly taken them long enough to admit their attraction, but, finally he was in a place he wanted to be.
He just hoped that this never had to end.

Life hadn't been easy for the pair of lions that found their way into the Ela lands. They had met when they were little more than cubs, embarking on an adventure around the world facing many trials along the way but finally they had come to a stop. They were home. It was not the home that Illeana had grown up in, nor the home that her mate had been born too. No, the Ela'wadiyi was their new home, one that they had found and fallen in love with.
Now they found themselves in the comfort on a den in the Earth Clan. Illeana couldn't help but feel a strange sense of pride swell in her chest at the sight of their new home or the sight of her mate lingering in the entrance. Throughout the struggles of his sight they had found that their once simple relationship had developed much deeper.
"Cassian," she cooed trotting over to the male, pressing her head against his shoulder. "We're finally home," she mumbled happily.

The touch against his shoulder was not unwelcome but it was...different. The whole 'mates' thing was going to take a while for the grumpy lion to get used to. Not that he didn't want to get used to it. He just...wondered why she had chosen him when he knew for a fact that there were many other more deserving males out there.
After all, he'd kindled their friendship in order to use her to gain his own independance. Not a very nice start.
But...did any of that matter, now?
He leaned down and carefully touched the side of his muzzle to hers, shifting aside a little to make room. "We...are." He agreed slowly. "It's...going to take some getting used to. I've...never had a home before. But these are good, simple people. I think it's a perfect place for us." He wondered where the little goddess was now...whether she'd gone to find her own little piece of 'home' and if she would finally be happy now that she had also been healed.
"Do you think we'll be all right here?"

What Cassian never seemed to understand was that he brought out the best in Illeana, she had started off as a shy, timid little lioness worried that she would always be overshadowed by the epicness that was her parents but upon meeting him, everything had changed for her. He had helped her grow in a way she doubted would even be possible without him.
"I haven't," she paused frowning slightly as she thought of the pride of her parents, "had a home for a while." She finished her sentence carefully as she leaned into Cassian. "But I would not have it any other way," she assured him smiling happily. "I think we'll be just fine."

He leaned against her very gently, his eyes softening as he took the moment to appreciate the world around them. Green. Peaceful. Beautiful. In the boughs of a nearby tree, a gathering of birds chirped merrily with one another and a stray breeze brought with it the scent of distant water.
His sight had always been poor and now, the details of everything he could see now astounded him.
He looped his tail around Illeana's and drew in a deep breath. "It will take time, I think, to learn everything we need to, but...the lions here seem quite willing to teach." He paused, glancing across at her. "Do you...miss your old pride? We...haven't been back since you left it."

Nuxaz In the pale lioness's opinion the lands of the Ela were far more beautiful than any other land they had come across. Far more gorgeous than any sight that they had seen, save for possibly the ocean though she did not like the salty water it provided them with. Now, she had the ability to share it with the one lion that she had been through everything with. "We've got all the time in the world now don't we?" She asked crimson eyes dancing over her mates face as she tried to read his expression. "No, I do not miss the lands," she shook her head frowning slightly. "I was, uh, never comfortable there. The only thing I miss are my parents but it is nothing but a dull ache," she smiled brightly as she said this. "I would have left them eventually. No, I am happy here. Happy with you."

Funny. He'd never thought much about his parents or his siblings since leaving. He'd hated being babied and taken care of and his yearning for independence had had him leaving them early on.
He wondered if they missed him or if they cared he had left.
He wondered if he would ever see them again and knew, deep down, that the answer to that would be no.
He snorted. "You say that now." He teased lightly. "But when my grumpiness gets on your nerves, you might have second thoughts." He leaned on her a little more heavily and turned his head so that he could set his chin across her shoulders. "Do you think we should get tattoos...to...uh...fit in?" He gave a gruff sort of chuckle. "Did someone say they had meanings or something?"

Nuxaz Back in the Kusini, family had been everything and Illeana's family populated the majority of the pride. That had been why she often felt suffocated in the lands, smothered by so many of her family that she had become meek and easy to manipulate. It had been what had led her to the lion beside her so she could not truly complain. In fact, it was a thought that had receded deep into the back of her thoughts. "They'd probably be mad that I had run off," she commented thoughtfully thinking of her parents. "But they'd be happy for me, very happy I think." "You are not nearly as grumpy as you used to be," she told him, playfully batting at his nose. "I've been with you this long, what makes you think I'd leave you now?" She had no intention of leaving him, now or ever. "Ah, yes. Someone said they tell stories?"

"Happy that their daughter got stolen away by a grumpy rogue and dragged half-way across the lands after some mad plan he'd thought up out of a childish need." He huffed, blowing bangs of mane away from his eyes. "Yes...I...think they'd be happy."
The corner of his mouth curled up in a sort of half-smile. "At least it all worked out in the end."
He rolled his eyes at her playful antics and attempted to pin the paw beneath his own to prevent it from a repeat performance. "I don't know..." He blinked, trying to think of a reason. Surely if she was going to leave she would have done so long ago. "Well...at least we have a story to tell." He pointed out. "I don't think half of the lions here have even stepped outside of the borders." His tail swished thoughtfully. "Although I'm not sure I fancy having my fur marked." He glanced down at his forepaws. Okay...so he wasn't the most vain lion ever. His white fur had dulled to a shade of grey. So...what then, the tattoos would hide the dirt?

Nuxaz She frowned and pretended to look at him angrily. "Cassian!" She cried in a scolding sort of way. "You know that's not what I meant, I meant that they would be happy that I am happy. You know that!" She scolded pushing him with her body. She squirmed as he trapped her paw, ears pressing back against her skull as she whimpered. "We do have quite a story don't we?" She murmured wistfully. They had experienced so much on their way to these lands, their story half over but also just beginning. There was much for them to accomplish. "I think I'd like a feather, for Roko," she told him thinking of the confusing little goddess. "I don't...mind? I don't have many markings anyway," she told him with a small shrug.

"I joke. I joke." He consoled, lifting his paw and sitting back so that he could see her better.
"A feather would be a nice idea." He gave her a brief glance. "But I do like your fur. Too many markings would have made my old eyes twist." He gave her a lop-sided grin. "But since we don't want to stick out if we're staying here, I suppose one or two couldn't hurt."
He stood and took a short step towards her, buffeting the top of his head against her shoulder. "What would you say to the idea of a walk?" He wanted to get to know the lands better. Wanted to use his mind more. But most of all, he wanted the concept to sink in. The concept of having a place to truly belong.

Nuxaz "I know," she replied glancing down at the ground bashfully. It was amazing to her that no matter what he could always make her blush. "Ah, thank you," she mumbled looking away as she felt her face heat up, grateful for the fact lions couldn't really blush. "A few here and there won't hurt though, we don't need full body ones like the other lions, the ones born here. Just a couple." She looked at him as he nudged her and she nuzzled his neck affectionately when he was by her side. "I would say that I'd like that," she replied cheerfully stepping forward. She too wanted to see more of the lands. It was still a foreign concept to the lioness, to have a place to call home.

Taking a few steps, he paused to let her catch up, moving on again at a slow pace. His eyes, watching her, turned eventually out to the lands around them. From here he could see the movement of other lions close by. Most likely they were of the same Clan.
They could put names to faces later.
With a small smile, he cast Illeana another look and the adoration in his eyes said more than words ever could.
The future was looking bright.
