Does anyone know some good books set in the Lincoln/Civil War era? Preferably about Lincoln himself and not just the Civil War. I ask you all because historians and linguists tend to overlap.
And preferably not dry and text book as well.
Also, since this will likely be a short topic, feel free to talk about other awesome history books as well.

I have a five-volume series on Lincoln. xD There's about... 2500 pages all about Lincoln. It's entirely about him, and it contains a bunch of pictures of primary sources, like things he once owned, and his signature and stuff. It's called Abraham Lincoln by Carl Sandburg. The books I have are in their 25th printing from 1926, but I'm pretty sure that the original text was published before that. XD

You could try Mr. Gatling's Terrible Marvel: The Gun That Changed Everything and the Misunderstood Genius Who Invented It. I may or may not know the author who may or may not have talked my ear off about Lincoln while she was writing it. So it contains a lot of info about Lincoln, especially about his life as an inventor, his patents, and his interest in technology that could be used during the Civil War.
