The small room was professional but not sterile, carpeted in a very short pale green, and the examination table was a darker shade, and covered over in padded vinyl. The counter to one side was pale gray and held clear glass containers with everything from depressor sticks, to cotton balls, and even one containing suckers. The desk on the other side was made of wood, worn from years of use. The vertical blinds on the window were pulled across for privacy but left slightly turned so the sun could come in. The walls had posters describing things like circadian rhythms or diagramming the nervous system.
Angela moved about the room smoothly, getting together the things she'd need for today's appointment. There were two children coming in today, twins, named Ryan and Ro-honda.
Rhino genes... Angela thought, and looked down at the tray. She wondered if there would be a problem with thick skin blocking the needle. Perhaps a slightly larger gauge? But I don't want to frighten them, she mused a bit ruefully, but switched it out for a slightly larger needle.
The rest of the needed items were ready: gloves, the vaccine itself, iodine swabs, and bandaids for after, if necessary. Her eyes traveled over to the sucker canister. Well, that would be up to their guardian.

When Gabriel got the notice about the vaccinations he wasn't worried about the kids. Each child got shots needed for people living on a farm with farm animals. Gabriel has a special on call doctor who knows how to handle unique children. Gabriel made sure to grab a special band-aid just for Ro-Honda and placed it in his shirt pocket. The first time she got shots she nearly had a fit because she didn't have the right band-aid. The funny thing is Ro-honda has always covered her band aids with a bow or some type of fabric band to match her outfit anyway. Yet the rhino child still likes her band-aid to match and this was a battle Gabriel chose not to fight. So everything was set and Gabriel headed off to D-corp.
Their journey to D-corp didn't take long about a thirty minute drive. Once at the facility the trio was escorted to the doctor almost as soon as they got in. Service as always was pleasant.
The three held hands Ro on Gabriel's right , and Ryan on Gabriels left. The father had no worries about the shots knowing that out of all the kids he cared for they were the easiest to deal with. He did want to note with the doctor to use the special band-aid and to use a larger needle but he would wait for the appropriate time to do so. The assistant opened the door for them and they walked in.

Angela turned to the door when she heard it open, and smiled cheerfully at the trio as they entered the examination room.
"Hello, my name is Angela," she introduced herself, and held out her hand for Gabriel to shake. "You're here for vaccinations, yes?" she inquired with a nod, her black bob hairdo bouncing with the motion.
After, she focused her attention on the children, assessing if they were going to be curious or frightened, or something else. "You must be Ryan, and you're Ro-honda, right?" she asked, looking at each child in turn.

As the doctor greeted Gabriel and the children, Gabriel looked for his opportunity to have a quick chat with Angela. He smiled "yes, we are here for our shots he smiled.
Ryan looked up and didn't speak , he wasn't scared but he wasn't excited eather. His tail swished around and he stared up at the wall. His sister on the other hand was ready to get this over with "My name is Ro-Honda nice to meet you" she recited in a speedy none unenthusiastic voice, she went one to say "I would like my shot now" she stated.
Gabriel moved in , he placed his hand over her right shoulder "Could I have a quick chat with you" he held out his other hand and made a gesture to emphasize small.

Angela tilted her head, curious as to what Gabriel wanted to speak about, but nodded.
"Well, Ro-honda, if you and your brother will just climb up onto the table, here, we'll start as soon as I speak with your father, okay?" she said, not wanting to ignore the children. They were people, too, after all.
That done, she stepped off to one side and smiled gently at the man.
"Is there something the matter?" she asked, though not alarmed, since he hadn't made it seem like a big deal.

The young adult chatted with the doctor as the twins got themselves ready. Once the two stepped aside Gabriel also smiled "I just wanted to let you know , you should use a thicker needle , a standard needle isn't going to work , don't worry there really good with needles , and also can you use this bandaid on Ro" he handed it to her "She has thing about matching , and .... lets just say things will go easier if you did" he kept the smile but looked a little nervous on what she would say.

Angela nodded in agreement. "I thought about that when I read their files and I already have a heavier needle ready," she said, pleasantly.
"And of course I can use this band-aid," she said, chuckling. She had no children of her own, but working with them all the time gave her insight into the quirks children seemed to have.
"I'll just take that, then, and keep it ready for after, okay?" Angela asked.
Then, she turned back to the kids. "Are we all set? Who is first?" she asked, looking between them. She suspected it would be Ro-honda, since the girl had been so insistent just recently.

Gabriel nodded and watched Angela talk to the kids. Ro-Honda looked up the woman and held out her arm and put her head down. She wasn't to talkative , and she wasn't good at making conversations she hadn't practiced. Gabriel looked at her "Ro use your words" he gave her stern look. The sumatran rhinoceros girl looked up and rolled her eyes "I willl... do shot ....now" she looked up at Gabriel, to see if she used the right words. He nodded at her , and she felt better.
Ryan sitting next to his sister "Your such a nice doctor... your like the kind on tv .... so much better looking than our house doctor ... who looks kind of like an old man ... but like .... with....." he looked around and smiled. He tried to cover what could of been an inappropriate statement. Gabriel gave him a look that was less serious and placed his index and middle finger on his forehead. Ryan then looked up at the ceiling and whistled.

Angela was not entirely sure what Ryan meant about this house doctor, but since the part about her was a compliment, she smiled and thanked him. Then, she turned to Ro-honda.
"Well, then, let's begin, shall we?" she asked, nodding pleasantly.
She disinfected the area first, then prepped the needle, using efficient, practiced motions. Once the needle was ready, she looked at Ro-honda and said, "I would like for you to let your arm go limp, okay, honey?"
Once this was done to her satisfaction, the actual injection was over lickety split, and then Angela was pressing a cotton ball to the site. She checked to see if Ro-honda was taking the shot well, despite the assurance from Gabriel that they had no difficulties with shots.
"There, all done! Let's just keep this here for a few more seconds..." the doctor said, and waited a moment, then checked to see if there was any blood. It had already stopped, so Angela went about applying the band-aid given to her earlier.

Ro did as told and the needle was done , she quickly looked down to see if her band-aid matched her outfit. It did , but it was the same kind as the ones at home. She happened to pack a few band-aids herself. She looked at the doctor for a split second. She kind of had a face like 'I have to make a bowl movement' and 'I am thinking way to hard' , but the face faded fast and she jumped off the seat. She then swung her purse around and got out a ribbon and tied it around her arm and made a wonderful bow. The style was one her nanny taught her. It looked super cute with her outfit, as she intended it to be.
Ryan still sitting looked up "NOW IT MY TURN" he flexed both arms and then kissed each of them "I'm super strong, Dad says both Ro and I are the bomb at getting shots" he made a horizontal peace sign and put on a coy smirk. He then held out his other arm just like Ro-Honda did. He was ready to prove his strength.
Gabriel looked at the doctor "I didn't say 'bomb' I said there the best at taking shots , and they are ... I have few kids.... none mine ... I mean all adopted , well they are mine.... I love them..." he saw the hole he was digging and looked up at ceiling and nodded his head a bit trying act like he wasn't a fool.

Angela smiled at the children's antics, charmed by them both. "Ro-honda did do very well, and I'm sure you'll just fine, too," she said with a nod. And she meant it.
She did chuckle at Gabriel, but not unkindly. "I understand what you mean," she said, letting him off the hook.
Ryan's shot went much like Ro-honda's, with Angela asking him to relax his arm, and with a swift smooth motion, delivering the shot. She pressed a new cotton ball to the site for a moment, then applied the band-aid. It wasn't a special one like Ro-honda's, but since Gabriel hadn't mentioned it, she assumed it wasn't a big deal for Ryan.
"There! Both done!" Angela said.

Nope the band-aide wasn't a problem for Ryan and he jumped off his seat and quickly ran over to his dad "See what I did" he pointed to the band-aide. "I did it, I'm super strong and it didn't even hurt one bit ... not a bit at all , yep yep yep" the rhino boy went on for a little bit longer. Ro-Honda just held her Dad's hand, and was waiting to leave.
"Sooo, do we need anything else" the man with the ducky hat asked Angela.

"No, that should be all for today," Angela said. "If they have any reactions to the shots, call the lab, but they seem to be fine. There might be a little discomfort, but that should go away in a couple of days."
"Thank you for coming in today. You were all delightful," she added, clearly directing the comment at the kids, but including Gabriel in the remark because he had also been nice.
"I hope to see you in some of my classes in the future!" she said as she gave them a wave goodbye. After they had left, she turned to the computer to log a file about the day's appointment.
