Talutah had come to a rest at a small waterhole. She drank her fill before rising and taking a more detailed look at her location. She could see a herd of zebra not far off. The stallion kept taking looks at her every minute or so. She paid him no mind as she wasn't hungry. So Talutah turned away from him. Other than the zebras and some other small animals around she seemed alone.
A rustle and snap suddenly made her ears flick. She stilled before raising her nose to sniff the air. She turned slowly to see who it was approaching the waterhole.(( I am heading home tonight. I was housing sitting for my parents for the last week+. Don't have internet at home but I do go to the library every Monday. So I can reply then. ))

A male lion stood several feet behind her. The grass bowed around him and he looked faintly surprised, as if the brush had just opened to him and revealed the red lioness without warning. He was large even for hid gender, but there was little imposing about his presence. His mane was thick and jet black, but was matted thickly about his neck, and the rest of his fur seemed fairly dirty as well. More, there were heavy scars on his face, but they were old and well healed by now. The scratches on his back, however, weren’t. They had stopped bleeding not long after that leopard had stolen his meager kill yesterday, and he had licked the blood from his sides, but the black fur on his back still smelled of blood. They were shallow at least, hardly painful, but the flies they attracted were aggravating. He’d come to the watering hole to wash and groom himself until properly clean. It would have been nice to have nothing wrong with him besides the scars on his face and the ever-present hunger in his belly.
Instead, there was this lioness, and his ears laid flat against his head in sudden concern over her appearance. “Sorry,” he said, hoping she wasn’t an unfriendly type. He’d met too many of those already.

Her keen nose had picked up the scent of blood. Oddly enough she hadn't realized it was a lion's blood. She eyed the scarred male that stood there. He was unkempt and at first Talutah felt nervous about his proximity. But his simple 'sorry' seem innocent enough. But she wondered what his motives where and why he looked like he got on the wrong side of a crocodile.
Talutah narrowed her eyes a bit in faint suspicion as she replied, "No problem."
It wasn't that she wasn't friendly. She loved meeting others and learning about them. Talutah decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. And approached him in a non-threatening way. "Are you alright?"

Hatari didn’t fail to note the way she eyed him. He supposed he couldn’t blame her – he was embarrassingly out of sorts – but her sudden approach still made his heart thump. “Yeah,” he answered, sidestepping slightly and turning to keep the red lioness in front of him. “I’m, um, just a little cut up. Nothing to worry about.” He wasn't sure which concerned him more: if she were furtively hostile or if she were likely to touch his sensitive back with some helpful notion in mind.

His body language spoke volumes to her. He had not seen much kindness recently and was highly cautionous of her. Good for him. Though she didn't intend to further injure him nor physically help him as he was a stranger. He ear twitched. "So who did you decide to toussle with that caused you to be out of sorts?" If anything, Talutah was highly curious and always thirsting for knowledge of any kind. She wasn't a gossiper, she kept these things mostly to herself.
