It was finally a nice warm day. She'd found a bit of quiet time and was lazily watching the random bugs as they moved about in the grass. She had played hard earlier in the morning and with the sun starting to reach it's peak in the sky she was content to just lay out in the grass. Beetles, spiders, caterpillars. they didn't bother her. Bugs just were as natural to the lands as she and her siblings were. Her grandfather had told her to respect even the tiny little beetles for they served as a big part of the world around them.

 Sterenna had been staying out of the winter cold, her delicate wings were not suited to cold weather, and especially not ice and snow. Though it had warmed lately and so sh had decided to go out flying for a change. She had often enjoyed fluttering around the flowers of her home, but this new place had shut down into winter not long after her arrival, though it had meant she had had more than enough time to get well.
Today she had shrunk to her small size and had taken off to flutter around the buds and new shoots, spring was here and on one of these rare warmer dry days she was going to relax for a while. So she was fluttering around and enjoying the feel of the air and pure freedom of flying to notice the foal at first.

Something small caught her eyes fluttering in the distance. "Hello little butterfly." She mused herself as she got up and quietly moved closer so she could watch what she believed to be little more than a butterfly. She sprawled back out in the grass as she watched the little butterfly. She smiled as she watched it's wings, how it dipped as it's wings stopped and rose once more as it's wings fluttered some more. "I'll bet your winter sleep was nice, all snug in your cocoon... Are they terribly stuffy?" She didn't really think the butterfly would talk back. That would be ridiculous right? Even for a foals imagination.

The foal talking startled Sterenna from her childish fun, but she landed on a near by leaf. "It was quite nice considering how cold it was outside." She hadn't realised she had been mistaken for a butterfly, but then it had never happened to her before, thne again where she had come from at least half the population had had the ability to shrink, and the others had all known about it. Looking at the foal from her perch, admiring the prettily coloured spots marking her back before taking off again and fluttering round her head.

She looked a but dumbstruck at hearing a reply from the butterfly. "Oh wow! A talking butterfly!" She giggled as she watched the little bug fly around her head, still convinced she'd stumbled upon a rare find. "I saw a cocoon once during the winter.. They're so... small but look really strong... Mother says caterpillars turn into butterflies like you within them over the winter.. is it true?? How do you do it?" He eyes were big as she looked at the tiny female.. at least it sounded to be a female.. How tiny.. fragile looking.. graceful.. She was an awkward little thing herself, all legs and such the tomboy with her games of Prot the mighty dragon. She couldn't help but to look at her fluttering about and wish she could be so full of grace herself.

Still fluttering around the foals head listening, though being called a butterfly was somewhat confusing, but perhaps the little one did not know any better, so she settled on the nose of the little one. "Yes its true, thats what butterflies do to grow up. All things change a little when they get bigger, even you will, though you will still be you." Her wings going still as she looks at the young foal. "I'm not a butterfly though, though I look much like one." She knew she was tiny and was not sure how well the little one could see her.

It wasn't till the flutter mare perched herself on Tian's nose that she recognized the little mare for what she was. She'd met one.. once.. but never did she know that they were capable of shrinking down in size like this. "Why.. you're no butterfly at all!" She gasped as her eyes crossed to the point of her nose. "How.. How did you become so.... small?" Her ears were perked, intrigued with this tiny mare, how fascinating.

Taking off from the fillys nose and fluttering over to a clear spot, she grew, she wasn't big by some soquili's standards but she was bigger than she had been, her full larger size. Smiling at the little one. "I just choose to be one size or the other. Bit I can't change too often or I get stuck on one form till I have my energy back." It sounded worse than it was, but she was just a half breed and so she had limitations, and for her it was how often she could change, it was very draining on her and if she got stuck small it could take a lot of time for her to have the strength to grow again. Moving over to the filly, her movements graceful even at this size, she might as well still be floating on the air. Bowing in a single fluid motion she smiled at the young one. "I am Sterenna little one, but you may call me Star if it pleases you." Closer and bigger like this, she looked like a fairy, wings more like a fairy than any bug anyone had seen and a star on her horn. Golden and shimmering there was just something magical about the young mare.

She watched the mare with fascination clear on her face. So.... fanciful... magical and above all... grace full. She gave a small frown and looked at her knobby knees and legs. She was awkward and fumbled from time to time. It was good for rough housing but so many of the other fillies she and her siblings had met were so..... feminine. " Oh I'm Tian but you can call me Tia. Pleased to meet you" She smiled. "How... How do you get so..... graceful?" Olive colored eyes stared at he mare as she drew herself up to stand.

Smiling gently, it becoming a sweet and engaging smile as she met Tia's eyes. "I am very pleased to meet you Tia." Her soft green eyes the colour of green crystals were soft and friendly, but fillys words brought a blush to her cheeks and made her giggle a little shyly. "It took lots of practice, from when I was your age, someone had to teach me, and it took time before I noticed that it was working." Her expression showing empathy, the little one had looked at her legs, she was at the age where nothing seemed coordinated and she would feel even more gawky and awkward because of that.

"I see.." She frowned some. Her mother was such a tomboy at heart she couldn't go there for lessons.. her grandparents were now occupied by what life had brought them around. That left her wondering just who she could turn to for these lessons. Looking up at the mare once more she had a moment of a mental battle with herself. "Could you um... teach me? Please?"

She looked a little surprised for a moment, but soon her expression was warm and smiling gently again, moving closer to the little filly and tilting her head. She knew she was going to say yes but she wanted to know a few things first. "Tia, why do you want to learn such things so badly?" Choosing to ask about the obvious, not wanting to start asking about the fillys family off the bat. She wanted to learn and Star would happily teach her, but girls should use such things to bond with their mother and Star didn't want to get in the way.

She nodded vigorously in her excitement. "Very much so.. momma doesn't know how.. so really.. I'm just clueless..." She looked at the mare with such wide and hopeful eyes. Her excitement finally won out and she started to prance and dance in place, still watching the mare intently for her reply.

Pondering a little longer, smiling as the foal pranced, she was so eager and excited, it would be next to impossible to say no. Her mother didn't know such skills, and well likely not, she didn't know for sure but she didn't think most were taught things like that. Finally she smiled. "Very well, I will teach you to be a little lady if that is your wish, but we must get your parents agreement, I do not want to upset them." Looking down at the filly and smiling into her eyes.

She thought about how her parents might take her wanting to become a lady. " I don't think they'd mind..." She was speaking honestly her mother was still prone to wandering off even though she had foals to take care of.. Then again... she couldn't argue with being left in the care of her grandparents.. her grandfather had the best stories and was nice.. and held an air of.. dignity and regalement about him. Surely he could have taught her something?? but then.. he was only a stallion and still was baffled by the workings of a female's mind. Or so he'd once stated.
