I have been watching alot of flash animation recently and I wanted to try it for myself.
It's my first go and I'm not suggesting this is great but it pleases me and I thought I would show and tell.

Here!

The reason it's stolen is because Bill Bailey, one of my favourite comedians, did a little hand-puppet (well, minus the puppets) version of this on his "Cosmic Jam" show..so I took the idea for a practice.

Anyway, comments and help are, as ever, appreciated mrgreen

:EDIT: Ooh..sorry about the bigness and unsquareity! There aren't many places that upload flash...I'll try my best to rectify the situation. [done]

First

THANK GOD IT'S NOT SOMEONE GUNNING DOWN A BILLION PEOPLE.

Take all this with a shaker full of salt cause I'm not familiar with flash, myself. The idea is cute and simple, and effectively carried out, but the animation is a bit choppy, but as a beginner that something you're probably expecting to hear.

Don't use motion tweens. Animation looks best when you actually draw your frames as opposed to sliding bits about.

I agree with what Dr. Valentine said, though I'm guilty of having done the same myself. Either way, your first try with Flash is way better than mine was! Mine didn't even have sound.

I'm not sure about how to go about that though because you don't seem to be able to draw on one layer with another underneath to get them the same or chop and change bits like you can in photoshop or even imageready. I wanted to make the monster transformation much smoother and draw several different in between monster but as you can see I only managed one and it was difficult to only change it a little bit.

I like the way the drawings come out in flash and that makes them so much fun to do.

Add a new keyframe on the same layer, on the next frame. There is an 'onionskin' button that you should turn on, it's very useful for frame-by-frame animation.

Edit: If you need help learning flash, you can add jvalentine_pe@hotmail.com to your MSN list. I'm online late at night and I don't mind helping you figure some stuff out.
