Being an artist, I'll get jealous easily... I don't think either... I just splat paint on paper, then turn that into a drawing. It's pretty entertaining, you should try it!
So I'll keep working. And I'll get better.

I like to define my terms when they are so closely related, so here I go: The definition of doodling is drawing and scribbling idly and without purpose. If you set out to draw a picture with premeditation and planning, that is drawing. Even a terrible sketch, if it is done purposefully like for practice, is drawing not doodling. With that in mind, I tend to doodle when I am focused on something else, like in church or in class, but most of the time I draw. I have to, I've been drawing long enough that if all I did now is doodle it would mean I have not grown at all as an artist.
I encourage you guys to work more towards drawing and less of the aimless doodling. Doodling is fun, but it isnt art. The difference between doodling and drawing is that when you draw, you set out with a purpose in mind. I wish to create an image that expresses this, or I wish to draw this character, or I wish to be better at drawing this shape so I will draw it over and over again. Have a purpose in mind. But continue to doodle, sometimes the best ideas come when you are just messing around and having fun. wink

Doodling! I find that when I doodle... I make up characters and styles without even knowing it, so now it is more important to me

I do doodles when I am going around town, so I can get an idea to what draw for later when I get home. I also draw up different characters and deiced if I should use them or, to redraw them. It can be a bad habit for me. xp

hippo-loves-me lol i wish i draw well but... i can only doodle haha. which would yall prefer to do on ur free time/ or when bored? doodle because 90% of the time when I doodle I take a pic of it with my iphone to turn into a drawing I doodle all the time but mostly in classes like humanities science and math but my grades are still top of the class also I have the zwipes binders so I can erase the drawing/doodle after I take pics of it
