I haven't told anyone this yet, so I thought I might vent about it here. Sorry is this is a completely unhelpful thread, but I really need to get this off my chest.

I'm 18.
I'm currently going out with my first boyfriend; we first met at Halloween.
I lost my virginity to him on Monday.

Now, it wasn't special, but it wasn't bad. I don't regret it at all; I really like him and he was very sweet and considerate (it's by no means his first time).

I am however, kicking myself over the fact that we didn't use anything!

Firstly, he's very open about the fact that he's usually quite promiscuous, so I don't know if he's had/got anything, not for sure...
Secondly, my family has a habit of falling pretty easily, even when using protection.
Also, my period was already overdue (I can't remember the last time I was regular!), so had I been late I probably wouldn't have noticed for ages.

I can not believe I did that. I feel so stupid!
Luckily, I came on on Tuesday so I feel a little bit better, but my god am I a lucky cow!

Well, I'm not going to lie, that wasn't the brightest thing to do.

BUT the key is to learn from this mistake. It's time to take responsibility on both your parts for the mistake. You need to get the full round of screening for STDs and he needs to as well! Hold off on sex until you two have been tested and have talked about contraceptives. Tell your GYN about this so the doctor can talk to you about the options available that are best suited for you.

I agree completely. You can also talk to your doctor/gyn and ask about taking a pregnancy test.

That's a little scary. You might want to check out this link about common misconceptions and pregnancy myths.

http://www.pregnancy-info.net/teenpreg_myth_fact.html

Excerpt:

Myth: I can't get pregnant the first time I have sex.
Fact: You can get pregnant any and every time you have sex, it doesn't matter if it is your first time or not. Plus, females are the most fertile when they are teenagers and in their early 20's, so always use a reliable form of birth control.

Yea, I'm well aware of the fact that you can get pregnant first time. Hence the kicking myself...

I came on the day after, though. I know that some women do have the occassional period when pregnant but it is considerably less likely that I've got a bun in the oven now...

People have this weird notion of the first time. They seem to think that it has this magical protective aura and that nothing bad can happen.

YES! You can get pregnant the first time you have sex. There is absolutly nothing biologically special about the first time. Nature does not give virgins one-time-use condoms that protect them.

And frankly, I'm really scared that you'd even think something like this was possible. I honestly hope that you are not sexually active and will not be for a good many years.

As to the OP, that was extremely careless of you. This is your body. This is your LIFE. Why are you being so irresponsible with it? Remember, you only get one. You can't return it if it doesn't work anymore.

Taking care of yourself should be your number one priority. A few moments of physical pleasure are not worth all the possible consequences of unprotected sex. I honestly hope that you learn from this and never EVER make the same mistake again.

Also, you should start seeing a gynocologist at least once a year as soon as you become sexually active. Book your appointment soon.

Not to scare you or anything, but you could be pregnant. Some women have there periods even when they are. You need to go to your doctor and get checked #1 for stds and #2 for pregnancy.

You can spot during your pregnancy, and still be pregnant. Go see a doctor and get checked out regardless, and then learn from your mistakes and don't less this happen again. It's not worth the worry or the stress to have to worry about being pregnant at your age.

No matter how much you love or trust him sweetie, use protection. Go to a doctor to get checked, it's the best thing you can do now, or make a pregnancy test just to assure yourself that everything is okay.

Well, no pregnancy.

...and we've now been having sex for about five weeks, and are using the Pill and Condoms. Aren't I a lucky, lucky cow?
