Von had checked to make sure Marc or anyone else wasn't near, barked the password at the painting and some other choice words and entered the room. She thought of going straight t bed but didn't feel like it so she sat on one of the couches laying the guitar in her lap and strummed it lightly after turning the volume down. She knew she'd have to take it and hide it before morning but with everyone asleep she could stand to wait a bit.

VIolet had not seen Von all day long. She was starting to get worried about her. She usually showed up in the common room at least one time a day. Violet decided to check once again. Sure enough there was Von sitting on the couch like nothing was going on. HMPH! How dare she just sit there! "Vonali Darix! Where have you been? I could not find you all day long! I needed someone to help put flowers in my hair and you were no where in sight! I had to rearrange my whole outfit because of you!"

Von started at the first word but then recognized the voice and relaxed back on the couch." Well I was in class today, at least most of them. And then I ate in the great hall, then had to practice in the music room. Then found a note when I got back to my books and took a nap til I went to the Astrology tower." All this was said half heartedly as she fiddled with the new guitar. " Did everyone love the outfit you decided on? Of course they did, so no harm done."

Violet thought that Von's day was a little too simple. There was no way she just napped. Violet would have seen Von if she were just napping. Why would Von lie? "If you napped today why did I not see you earlier? I looked all around you know?" Violet tried to give Von a sweet look so she would not know that she was suspicious of her.

Von kicked her feet off the couch and turned to look at Vi. " I don't know Vi, did you try the fifth floor? You know my music class room is up there and I practice alot. And I passed out asleep on my bed for a few hours before I went to the Astrology tower." She looked at the guitar in her lap and back at Vi, tonight had been too much fun to bicker with Vi. " Where have you been? I'm sure Marc would have invited you to the Astrology tower too if he could find you, so maybe you're the one hiding out." Von was a simple person and liked keeping her life that way but with late night chill sessions, interruptions during practice, family always shipping her off to one place or another and now the third degree from her best friend, perhaps she wasn't supposed to have a simple life.

Violet could not believe her ears. Von was trying to make light of the situation. She was trying to be causal about the whole Marc thing. She was hanging out with him! I bet they were snogging! The butt munchers left her behind to snog!
"Oh I love how you just glaze over being with Marc like it was nothing. I bet you were doing all sorts of forbidden things in that tower, like snogging! You were probably doing that thing that Ariel from the 5th floor said she saw her parents doing! You just so happen to not be able to find me. I bet! I am so sending an owl to your mother telling her exactly what you and Marc were doing. I bet she would love to hear about your adventures with Mr. Hotpants!"

Von set the guitar down and flipped over the couch to stare at Vi. " You think I snogged with Marc. Vi get a grip. You know I'm not into the whole relationship thing." Von starts pacing frustrated that her best friend could think that of her, then a thought hits. " Vi are you jealous? I mean I like Marc but not in the LIKE like way, I mean he's a great guy pal but nothing more." Von stops and willingly grabs Vi's hands. " Vi if you're starting that whole into guys things that's fine but ya gotta tell me which ones I can't be friends with ok. And for the love of pete don't call my mother, she'd jump to wild theories."

How dare Von turn this around oh her! She was the one snogging Marc not Vi. Vi points her finger in Von's direction. " Oh no you don't missy! You know that you like him! I see it in the way you are around him and stuff. Then you always seem to be alone and can't be found. Your mother would not have to jump to wild theories because her theories are fact! I know the kind of things that happen between girls and boys. Ariel informed me of it all. You might think I am behind on these things but I'm not" Violet put her hands on her hips. " Why would I be jealous of you anyway?" Vi started to run towards her room with what could have been small tears coming from her eyes. Why was she crying? There was no reason to. Stupid Von raising her voice is what made her cry, right? Of course thats it! Its always Von's fault.

"gerfit!" Von left the guitar and dashed after Vi. " Vi! Don't do this. Please. I wasn't snogging Marc I swear, and I'll swear on anything you want, even on my guitar. The new one. We're friends aren't we? When was it we became suspicious of each other instead of watching each other's backs. I promise if I ever think about snogging a guy, we'll talk first." Von pulled gently on Vi's arm to get her to return to the common room where the chance of waking others was slim.

Violet hurried and wiped off her tears. She could not let Von see her this way. She looked up at Von with one tear she missed in her eye. "Of course we are friends. Your the best one I have. You would really swear on your new guitar that you would tell me before snogging?

Von sighed slightly in relief and wiped the missed tear in her eye. " I would. Now if you come down here I'll swear and then play the song I've been working on and tell you what did happen tonight. And without you freaking out." Von gently tugged on her arm and if Vi moved she'd take her back to the common room. Where she grabbed her new guitar and placed in her lap. " So what do you want to hear first, the song or the story?"

VI laid out on one of the common's couches. She flipped off her small purple shoes. They hit the floor with a clack. " I want to hear the song first. I need something to relax too." Vi let her head rests on a pillow.

Von shook her head and Vi's behavior but smiled and turned the volume up enough Vi could hear. The song filled the small space and it's upbeat melody spoke of laughter,merriment, and mostly freedom. Free from the complexities of school, family, obligations, and the future. Von softly hummed the harmony as her fingers slid across the guitar, her eyes closed as once again the song had eaten the world away for her. And as the last note hung in the air she sighed and looked over to Vi, hoping she liked it. " What do you think?" Only then did she realize she'd never sung or hummed for Vi before, she wiped her nervous hands on her pants.

"Do you even have to ask? It was so amazing! I still think that we could make lots of money off of your playing. Just picture it! You a wonderful SUPERSTAR. I the wonderful manager who gets 15 percent! Everyone would love us both! But you have said no already. Oh well. Don't think this gets you out of telling me about tonight." Violet gives Von the stink eye. She wanted Von to know she would not get out of that no matter what.

Von snickered and rolled her eyes. " Not ready for the publicity just yet but Pani came across me the other day and I'm thinking of maybe starting a band. What do you think?" She knew she'd tell Vi about her visit to the tower that evening but to her this was much more important. Though she couldn't tell Vi about Marc's problem at least not the arranged part. Might tell Vi about the girl punching him though, a smile spread as she thought on that one.
