Victorious! Avia skipped merrily through the thin trees, grinning proudly. She had once again snuck through her mother's and sister's watching gaze. She was getting better at this. She fluttered her wings happily, and suddenly wished that they were big enough to carry her. She would have to wait for her to be a little older to learn how to fly, so said her mom. Of course what would momma know anyhow? She doesn't have wings. Rolling her eyes dramatically, Avia hadn't noticed that she'd stepped right into a babbling brook. Looking down, she saw little tadpoles swimming along. And those were supposed to turn into frogs? Gross.
Forgetting the ugly creatures, Avia trotted, pranced, and hopped all through the brook, splashing water everywhere, drenching her pale white fur.

 It wasn't often that Aidan managed to slip away from his ever pestering familiar Layla, and he intended to take full advantage of this opportunity. With slow heavy steps, Aidan made his way though the wooded area. Despite being unable to see, each step was sure. This was a path he traveled often and had long since memorized.
Of course, things change with time. A tree might fall during a storm, or new growth may rise from the ground. That was why he kept his steps slow. If his hoof bumped into something that had not been there before, he would adjust his course.
The sound of running water signaled to the large stallion that he was drawing closer to the brook. Here he intended to stop for a small break. After he, would continue with his aimless walk, as long as Layla did not find him.
Splashing? Aidan's slow steps came to a stop, his ears perked to take in the sounds. Tilting his head back to deeply inhale, the scent mingling with those of nature, confirming what he'd suspected.
He was not alone.

Having so much learn as a foal and as a young adult, Avia didn't notice the arrival of the much larger stallion. Instead she continued to play as an foal would, hopping, blundering, tripping, and dancing in the cool water. She hadn't yet experienced the cold of winter, as she'd missed it by only a few days. She rather liked the way it was now though. But splashing in the water by herself soon grew mundane. Sighing, bored, she knelt down to drink, still unaware of the blind presence feet from her.
She thought more about her wings. She really wished she could fly. Maybe if she learned, she'd meet her father in the sky. She imagined him huge and white, with wings longer than three of her, each. She was going to be great like him. It was in her blood after all. She still had her tail bouncing about in the water, staring into the tops of the trees, her back to the unknown visitor.

Company was something Aidan found undesirable, it was steady constant in his life. Company meant conversing with someone who expects pleasantries and for him to waste his time listening to them talking about stuff he did not care about. And then the glares or insulted tone of voice when he informs them of just that or outright just walks away. Were they not just as rude as him by attempting force their expectations onto his shoulders?
He should just turn and leave. He wanted to turn and leave. The only thing that kept his legs from moving was sheer stubbornness. This brook was his intended designation. He should not have to leave because another might attempt to invade his peace.
With that thought, he walked up to brook, stopping at the bank to bow his head and drink.
