Tyler chased after the squirrel laughing hysterically. The poor creature zigzagged across the ground before scurrying up a tree and disappearing into the leaves. The young filly stomped her hoof at the base of the tree. A few loose leaves fluttered to the ground. The squirrel chattered at her angrily, fluffy tail lashing out in fury. Tyler frowned at it. "Yeah, well you're no fun!" She spat. Her nose turned up into the air, Tyler moved away from the tree. In a few moments, the squirrel was forgotten and Tyler was skipping through the trees. She had successfully sneaked away from her mother was wandering alone in the woods. Well, not wandering, per say. Tyler was looking for a playmate. It had been ages since she had played a game of tag. Or hide-and-seek. Pranks were all well and good, but they didn't always release all the energy she had pent up inside. Tyler was a foal, after all. Her hoof came down next a large beetle. The insect crawled away from it, but Tyler used her other hoof to block its path. For the next few minutes, Tyler had the beetle scurrying back and forth between her hoofs, preventing it from escape. The game ended quickly, however, when the insect hopped onto her leg. Tyler shrieked and shook the bug off, glaring as it fell back down to the ground. The glare followed it all the way to a fallen log where it disappeared into the earth. The filly sighed and plunked down onto the ground. If she didn't find something to play with soon, she might have to go back to her mother. And that was definitely no fun at all.

She was charging through the trees at full speed, A blur of rainbow spots, flesh toned, white fur, and olive green mane. The only thing that gave notice that it was a young filly was the giggles that followed a loud "Foul beast be gone from the dragon's lair! Prot shall destroy you if you linger!!" A rabbit scurried past the area soon followed by the clambering of hooves and the blur that was Tian. Skidding to a halt she danced, pranced and struck a heroic pose as the rabbit ran off into a bush. She laughed loudly and danced around before spotting a darker figure. Strange.. she'd never seen this foal before. The only foals that really ever were in this area these days were her siblings and they were off on their own adventures for the time being.

Tyler was taken aback by the sudden appearance of the filly. She hadn't even heard her coming. The filly stared at her like a deer in the headlights before regaining her composure. She looked over the foal quickly and concluded that the other foal was slightly older than she was. Still, a foal none the less. And that meant Tyler had found someone to play with! A small smile slowly dawned onto her face. This could mean a game of tag, or hide-and-seek! Tyler did love a good game of hide-and-seek. Or maybe they could....had she said something about a dragon? And who was Prot? Tyler looked at the foal quizzically. Did she mean a Kalona? Weren't Kalonas supposed to be dangerous? Tyler has never seen one before. Now she was interested. This day was turning out to be better than she thought. Tyler skipped forward boldly, her short tail swishing back and forth in a playful manner. "Did you say a dragon?" Tyler asked, eyes darting up to the treetops above them. Maybe it would try to sneak up on them by flying down from the sky. "And who is Prot?" Her head titled to the side, nostrils flaring as she sniffed the air in an attempt to smell this mysterious dragon.

She struck a heroic pose before the other filly and giggled madly for a moment. "Who wants to know? Prot, Shall keep these lands varmint free!" She chuckled at the other foal's search for a dragon. "Prot dragon RAWR!!!!" She blew out a stream of air as though mimicking a dragon's fire breath before she skittered off making whooshing sounds as though she were indeed flying.

Tyler's eyes widened, and she could have sworn she felt one eyelid twitch. Prot was the dragon Tyler was looking for. And the foal was Prot. Did she actually believe she was a real dragon? Tyler's mouth dipped into a small frown. She had never played a game quite like this before. Tag or hide-and-seek were her normal past times. They actually taught valuable lessons for someone in her mother's trade: hiding from victim and then fleeing the scene of the crime. What did this game have to teach that would be useful to her in the future? What did pretending to be dragon teach you? All games had to have a purpose. But Tyler just couldn't figure this one out. An idea struck her quite suddenly as she watched the foal prance about. Maybe the actual game had no purpose. Maybe it was the people involved. For tricksters, like herself, who were prone to get into trouble, her mother had taught her that it was good to have allies. "Contacts" or "Friends" who could help out in a spot of trouble. Maybe the point of the game was to make friends for the future. The foal's frown switched to a smile. It was time to play along. But how? If this foal was a dragon, maybe Tyler had to be one too. "Well, Prot, I am the mighty...er...Jerry! The most famous and...uh...bestest dragon ever!" Tyler bellowed. Her eyes darted back and forth as she tried to think of more things to say. This game was hard! "And you are on my lands! So, you should, eh, leave! Rawr!" Tyler tried to mimic the roar the other foal had made unsuccessfully. Her tail swished with anticipation. Had she done it right? Was this how the game was played?

She gasped in shock as the other foal claimed to be the best dragon ever. Shaking her head, she worked herself into a tissy. "Jerry mustn't know! Jerry Should fear Feyrbrand!" She looked around as though in mock fear and lowered her voice to a whisper. "Feyrbrand Lurks in the forest.. He's the biggest! Mightiest! Most stupendous! Dragon of the lands!" She grinned wide. He grandfather played this game with her.. He was always Feyrbrand, and with good reasoning she supposed. He was large... fierce.. and played the part from his stories well.
He head quirked in the direction of some smaller animals scurrying about in the underbrush. "Hark! Prot smells.... Knights." She gave a fierce low growl as she stalked after the sound. This was her prey, she'd show those knights to leave the dragons alone. How DARE they attack and dispose of dragons in the stories.

Feyrbrand? There was another crazy foal around here? Tyler looked about, but couldn't see anyone else. With a sigh, she shook her head. This was just getting confusing. The mention of knights regained her attention. "Knights? What knights?" She asked, trotting after the foal. Geez. This filly had the attention span of a butterfly! Tyler noticed a few mice scurrying in the brush at her hooves. She stared at them for a few seconds before grinning with triumph. Knights. Maybe she was starting to get this game after all. "Alas! Knights! It's an ambush!" She cried, rearing up onto her back legs. The front hooves came crashing down in the middle of the mice, sending them racing off in a panic. "We cannot let them re-group!" Tyler shouted to the other foal, chasing one of the terrified critters.

Finally it seemed the other foal was getting the game. All imagination, such a great way to build up things in your mind and gain bravery by over coming them in battle. "Make sure they don't run for reinforcements!" She yelled before giving chase to a mouse as it scurried by. She made whooshing noises and huffed at the little critter as it fled for safety. "Prot will show thou foulest knight who is the bravest here! Flee for your king! tell him that we will suffer him no more!" She stomped at the mouse sending it diving under a rotting log. She wasn't really aiming for it.. a good thing too as her hooves had hit the ground close enough that she'd almost thought she'd gotten the poor thing.
