Days like this were few and far between before the warmer seasons of the Wintry wonderland known as Shyregoed. Before Spring, days were usually shrouded by the thick, gray clouds that threatened to drop snow in a moment's notice; cold, harsh winds that could freeze one in moments. Yes, days like these this early in the year were a wonderful thing, something that those who believed such things would pray in thanks for their good fortune.
Jin-Ho had placed the thicker of his two coats on the stump beside him, his little ward, Blaithe, sitting comfortably inside the pouch that he had strung around his neck. Outside was always the best place to practice magic of any kind. The surrounding nature was good for feeling in-tune with your inner powers, and provided a safe surrounding for the practitioner and their sometimes unexpected company.
Inside her little carrier of sorts, Blaithe peeked her head over to watch her Grimm and his magics. He had always impressed her with his many skills, and magic was supposedly going to be important for her.
"Oji, you'll teach me once I grow, right? I wanna be great like you!"
Without so much as a glance toward the tiny Phasmas, who was just barely bigger than one's thumbnail, Jin-Ho smiled as he closed his eyes in focus. His expression spoke enough, his voice didn't have to. Blaithe had gotten used to moments like this and knew to read expressions. She still had trouble with patience at times, but she was getting better.
Tucked into the pocket were some sheets of paper for if the brush became bored, which was likely to be soon. She wasn't strong enough to practice magic, herself, and watching was never too interesting for long.
"Enskorshio!"
Several feet in front of the duo, a small patch of snow burst into flame at the last syllable of the chant. The man was practicing vocal spells, and more offensive ones, rather than defensive at that.

Dorian Arelgren tugged on the fingers of his gloved hand, as if the motion itself would thaw them. Despite that Shyregoed was less cold during the spring then compared to its winters, the Arelgren heir was sensitive to any sort of cold, and considered himself anemic. The pocket newly sewn into the inside of his jacket was wriggling, signaling Dorian that Lettie desired a breath of air. He did not oblige her wishes immediately. The risk of having Lettie being seen and stripped from him was not unlikely if she was spotted, and the pocket was a precaution for this very reason.
Dorian had promised the day before to bring his Plague to a "nice place to play" as she had inquired, and the clear field discovered by the younger version of himself years ago suited nicely. Grass flattened underneath his steps as he made his way across the green, though he halted when his jade-green eyes met a peculiar scene.
This particular day, the field was not vacant.
Something smelled burnt.
Someone was across the field from him, not too far, speaking in words he did not understand. Lettie patiently awaited her Grimm's response to her hints, though Dorian was preoccupied in answering.
"Lettie, hush!" Dorian whispered urgently into his pocket, which immediately remained still.
The oriental figure seemed to not have taken notice of him yet, sensible, since Dorian himself had just arrived. He was careful not to fidget where he stood, for the crunching snow was mighty capable of alerting the man of his presence.
"Mr.Arelgren, why did you stop walking?" Lettie questioned, her bell-like voice filled with worry. Tipping her cap up, she wondered if Dorian encountered trouble. Peeking up, she could only see his scarlet neck-ribbon, which seemed giant in size to her. When he didn't answer, she fell silent.
"How curious," Dorian huffed to himself, poising an index finger under his chin. Usually this field was empty.

The hushed words of their unknown companions fell on deaf ears as Jin-Ho continued his practicing. His own chantings and hummed words mixed with concentration had put him in a state of pure focus. More strange words escaped his lips, causing different shows in magic and skill. With each flame, light or even small explosion, the proof was there that magic wasn't something to be played with in any sense.
Though the Grimm was occupied, the smell of sweet, sweet chocolate wafted past Blaithe's sensitive senses, followed by the scent of dying decay. She poked her tiny head out of her pouch, unable to locate the cause of her distraction, as Jin-Ho stood between her and her new potential friend!
"Oji! Oji, we're not alone!"
He missed, nearly setting his cloak he had set aside ablaze, as his Plague broke his concentration. Jin-Ho held his thumb and forefinger to his temples, the loss in focus hit him hard. "What are you talking about, Blaithe? There's no one here..."
"Yes, Oji, there is! Turn around! I smell chocolate!"
Chocolate...? There were no chocolate Plagues in the base. Had someone perhaps brought him something to drink in the cold? No, he would have been able to smell it at this distance, given the warmth, but only Blaithe had smelled it.
An intruder?
Turning, the Mage saw the man in purple standing just outside of the base with him. He must have had a Plague of his own, otherwise Blaithe wouldn't have cared enough to mention him. But what was he doing here, of all places?
"Excuse me, sir," Jin-Ho called, raising his voice so that he could hear, "you're trespassing on private property, what is your business here?"

Dorian smirked at the sight of the oriental man, smile widening at the man's inquiry. Lettie didn't quite understand what was indeed going on, but Dorian's smile was contagious, and she found herself smiling too from where she hid. Adjusting his scarlet ribbon, Dorian continued to near the man before he answered the inquiry. He was quite intrigued by what the practitioner had been performing earlier before he took notice of Dorian, and the latter was quite sure with himself that the man was associated with magic of a sort. The flames that ignited before seemed to be skillfully cast, and though Dorian knew very little of magic himself, he knew that it existed, and many partook in the practice of it. Like perhaps, his interrogator.
Playing with fire, are we? How exciting...I wonder if he would teach me...
"Private property, reaaaaaaally?" Dorian mulled innocently, an index finger poised to the sky. Though it might have appeared so, the Arelgren was feigning nothing, he'd always visited the field, and nobody had halted him before. Nancy took him to the field in early mornings sometimes for abrupt picnics when he was younger. For all he knew, the man was throwing a feint.
"Weeeellllll, I don't quite see your name on it."
He pocketed his hands, a smug grin spreading over his features. Whatever the man was doing looked like fun. He wondered if it was illegal fun. Otherwise, why the furtive behavior?

It seemed that the man had to take some time to mull this idea over.
Jin-Ho watched him, Blaithe wriggling quietly inside of her little pouch as she longed to meet the chocolate themed Plague nestled snuggly in their visitor's cloak. The man himself was quite attractive, but she was more interested in the one that was only bigger than herself. She smelled sweet, and once she smiled she even seemed friendly!
"Yes, private property. You're on the grounds of an important Fellowship base," the mage said with little amusement in his voice. Sarcasm was always something that would get on his nerves a little, but there was no use in getting angry at the stranger, especially at this time. Perhaps he really didn't know. "And of course you see no names on it, given that it doesn't belong to me but to my Faction."
"Oji! I want to see her!"
The sudden interruption momentarily broke Jin-Ho's concentration as he glanced down the the minuscule Plague sitting impatiently against his chest. Despite the seriousness of the moment at hand, he couldn't help but break a smile.
This man does have a Plague, and he seems unaware of the Fellowship's grounds.
"Tell me, what is your name?" Jin-Ho called, the smile remaining on his face. "You and your Plagued companion."

Dorian, surprised, licked his lips. Fellowship base? Surely, the man was jesting! His memory convinced him otherwise, that this fellow surely was rather paranoid and confusing. However, the command of revealing Lettie to the magician was something the Arelgren was hesitant upon. Lettie however, nudged him encouragingly, for she did want to become acquainted to new peoples, plagues, whatnot. She was rather lonely, even with the companionship of Dorian, and the latter was slow to notice this. However, the mage didn't seem to be harmful (on the exterior), nor did his words appear threatening. Perhaps it was safe to reveal himself, the inception of the idea was a successful one.
"Ah, my name is Dorian Arelgren" Dorian said lucidly, gesticulating a bow. "This here, is Lettie."
He opened a palm, and Lettie crawled upon it, fixing her great, brown eyes on the smiling mage. She returned his smile, giggling to herself at the sight of another giant.
"H-Hello," Lettie shyly said, smoothing the fabrics of her dress before politely curtsying. Her hat tipped a bit when she bowed, but quick, gloved fingers saw to it that it didn't fall off her head.

Jin-Ho allowed the man a moment to think over the request, allowing himself to bow once the two were introduced. The man was certainly lucky to have been gifted with a Servos upon closer inspection! A smile spread across the mage's face as he stepped closer, allowing Blaithe to crawl into his own hand for introductions.
"I am Jin-Ho Kyon, and this is Blaithe. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Reaching his hand forward, he allowed Blaithe to introduce herself to the little one known as Lettie. "Tell me, Dorian Arelgren, what brings you to the harsh climates of Shyregoed? You seem unfamiliar with the area."
Blaithe, using her Grimm's thumb as a support, stood up excitedly and leaned in toward the new Plague. The rich smell of chocolate and death emanated from her being, a smile clinging to the brush's face. "Hi! You smell really good! So your name is Lettie? That's such a pretty name!" She bounced in her guardian's hand, eager to reach out to her new found 'friend.' From what she could recall, Lettie was the fourth or so of her own relative size that she had been able to meet, a definite reason to be excited. "I'm Blaithe! Do you like to draw?"
The mage let out a laugh as he glanced down toward his own Excito. "I see that Blaithe has already taken a liking to your little Lettie."
