When the djinn had seen the notice for the upcoming field trip her initial reaction wasn't a pretty one. She'd paled, damn near hyperventilated, and may or may not have locked herself in her room for a minor break down. The memories from Christmas Town were still so very fresh, and Yaya was not in a hurry to repeat any of the catastrophes from that trip. She'd been crashed, bloodied, beaten, blown up, and chased all over the place. Needless to say, she was not a happy camper at the prospect of doing it all over again.

Once she had calmed down though and noticed they would be taking boats she felt mildly better. Mildly. She did like water, it was, after all, her element. The same admiration for water didn't seem to extend to all of her friends though. Three in fact had expressed a distinct weariness, and when they had confessed to the djinn that they couldn't swim she had declared then and there that not a single one of them would set foot on those boats without at least a basic knowledge of staying afloat.

That is how the lovely demoness came to be standing beside the pool in her crotchet bikini with a towel slung over her shoulders. Her darling friends would be meeting her, and she would, by jack, teach them how to swim.

She'd also informed her beloved nergal of these plans and left an open invitation to join them should he feel inclined. He didn't need lessons, but they did quite enjoy each other's company, and any excuse to be together was a good one.

Another field trip? Oh no...while Junko hadn't had too terrible of a time in Christmas Town aside from nearly freezing her feet off and being ejected from the warehouse in that explosion she knew others were not so lucky. Hopefully this trip would not turn out as disastrous as the last one? At least it was on a boat and not in the snow.

...Wait...a boat?! N-no! Nononono! Junko couldn't swim! She'd never even been near water deeper than a bathtub! That..what...how could...no! Junko had asked Merope over groanspring if he could teach her to swim but he admitted to her even he needed to figure out how to swim in a humanoid form. That sounded promising, right? Not. But she did know someone who could swim, someone who hopefully wouldn't laugh at her. Yaya. Thankfully the ghoul was determined to teach Junko and a few others how to swim instead of mocking them. Yaya was amazing, obviously. It wasn't until after the plans had been made that she realized she didn't even own a swimsuit. Crap...she didn't know how to make one either. She'd have to go buy one.

What did she get? It was hard to tell because the ghoul came in with a light yukata on to cover herself up so she didn't walk around campus wearing just her swimsuit. Her hair was all piled up on top of her head, every last bit of it, and her face was rather pink. She was obviously not used to whatever she was wearing. It was weird.

It seemed she was the first one to arrive? Junko sighed with relief when she spotted Yaya by the pool, hugging her towel and walking over to her with a smile. "Hiii~. Thank you so much for this, Yaya." She chirped, turning a wary look down toward the water. This was going to be...interesting.

Jove had been of two minds when he heard they had a field trip coming up. On one hand it was exciting to get away from the steady routine of classes, sleep, classes, studying... A routine that was starting to become monotonous to the pup now that he was starting to pick up on the material. As eager as he was to learn, he was still just a child, and when children did the same thing for too long they stopped wanting to learn and started wanting fun instead.

He had never been on a boat before, and that in and of itself was an exciting thought. He listened to the other students chatter about boats and beaches, suntans and swimming and pirate minipets, and thought it would be a delightful break from routine.

But then he remembered Yaya's ominous words about the last field trip, and all the doubts hit him like a ton of FEAR-infused bricks. He was no stronger than he was when he came to the academy, would he be able to handle all the terrifying things that might happen? He didn't even know how to swim!

But he supposed that's why he was there, nervously heading to the pool wearing black swim shorts patterned with little dog skulls and bones. He was wrapped tightly in a fluffy black and orange towel, Yaya had assured him when planning the meeting that he would want both.

When he saw Yaya over by the pool the little ghost began to trot closer, but slowed once he realized he didn't know the other ghoul in attendance. Pulling the towel closer around him, he silently padded towards the pair.

The building the pool was housed in was large, open, and oddly serene when mostly empty. She could hear the sound of water lapping gently along the edges of the pool, the filters humming, and above it all the sound someone approaching her on bare feet. Before Junko had even gotten half way to her side the djinn had turned to smile at her friend. "I'm happy to do it," she soothed, leaning over to wrap the futakuchi-onna in a reassuring hug. "If we're going by water, you need to know how to swim." Besides, Yaya loved water and she was infinitely patient. She was perfect for the job.

Next to arrive was Jove, and Yaya was quick to greet the little foxfire. Stepping away from Junko so she could give the little ghost a hug as well before taking his hand to draw him in against her side. "Jove, this is Junko." Introductions were in order. "She's one of my friends, and very nice." They'd get along well, she was absolutely sure of it. "JUnko, Jove." Her free hand waffled in the hair between them as she said their names.

Now they were just waiting on Aksaja, but The djinn so little reason in waiting around for him. "We're waiting for one more, but I'm not sure when he'll get here. So why don't we get started then?" They might not have been the most eager to simply jump right in, but being a marid, Yaya's skin was tingling with the desire to get in the water. It was her kindred element, and she couldn't be around it without wanting to touch it.

Hugs! Yay hugs! Junko more than happily returned the hug, putting her head on her friend's shoulder and just trying to ignore the pool beside them for now. Yaya was right, if Junko by some great catastrophe fell off the boat without knowing how to stay afloat she could drown. And she'd seen water-wings. They. Looked. Stupid. Junko was going to avoid them like they were made of Christmas JOY. "I know. I've never even been near water deeper than a bath tub...I had to go out and buy a swimsuit too. Never worn one before." Junko admitted with a faint blush. She hadn't shown Seiji, she hadn't shown Yaya, she hadn't shown anyone the suit she had picked. Nope. No one. And she wasn't going to until she absolutely had to. It was weird to wear; she tried imagining they were like a bra and underwear but...that wasn't working. Her underwear didn't sparkle.

She heard someone else approaching and turned around to see who it was, her worry over these swimming lessons seeming to dissipate at the sight of someone so adorable! Junko slipped from Yaya's hold to wave to him, a bright smile on her face. "Hello!" She greeted him cheerfully, looking to Yaya as she introduced her to the small boil. Ohhhh! Jove? How cute! She gave the boil a small bow as they were introduced, hugging her towel again. "It's very nice to meet you, Jove!"

Wait, they were going to start now? But...but...Yaya herself had just said...! A look of panic briefly washed over Junko's features, calming as quickly as she could. Yaya wouldn't let anything happen to her. It'd be okay. Mostly she was just shy about what she was wearing under her kimono. "Alright." She finally answered, dropping her towel and reaching back to untie the obi she'd quickly thrown on over her yukata.

Jove fidgeted nervously away from the hug, but not enough that he would evade it entirely. He knew Yaya liked hugs, and he would grudgingly allow her to hug him every now and again because it seemed to make her happy, but he wasn't so sure about being hugged right in front of a stranger. In fact, he wasn't even sure about the stranger in general. He was glad Yaya pulled him close, she gave him something to hide behind.

The pup gave Junko nervous, wary eyes until he saw her reaction to the introduction. It was like the ghoul brightened up entirely when she saw him, and she didn't even stick her hand out to shake his, or reach out to touch him or hug him, or do anything that would have immediately set him on edge. He wagged his tail shyly in greeting, ears tipping back slightly in a placating "Nice to meet you," gesture.

Jove didn't notice when Junko dropped her towel, he was busy staring at the water. It always marvelled him how clean it was, most of the water he had seen in Halloween was dark and gloomy, with unknown horrors lurking out of sight. The pup wandered closer, dipping a toe into the pool as if he were afraid something would bite him.

If Yaya noticed the way Jove was tucking himself behind her, she didn't let on but merely smiled down at him as that adorable tail began to wag gently. She'd been a little nervous about introducing the pup to, well anyone. Not that she didn't think he'd get along with her other friends, but he had been rather skittish around her at first, and she really didn't like the idea of him feeling uncomfortable. She might have considered teaching him to swim on a separate occasion, but the trip was just around the bend, and it'd be easier just to have everyone together at once.

As predicted, the idea of getting into the water so very soon made them nervous. At least one of them, anyways. Jove actually looked ok about the idea as he dipped a toe in the pool. Gently she unwound the towel that was wrapped around him, giving his hand a little squeeze before stepping away to pick up Junko's towel so she could lay them all on the bench against the base of the bleachers.

"You can just jump in if you want, Junko. This end of the pool is shallow and only comes up to about chest level." Some how she doubted the ghoul would be up to simply jumping in, but in case she was, she'd be safe. Jove on the other hand... "You might want to wait for me, Jove." It might not be over his head, but it was over his nose and mouth at least. He might not need to breath, but jumping in to find her couldn't could very well be alarming.

Towels folded, she returned to the edge of the pool, and wasting no time stepped right off the edge to drop into the water. Disappearing underneath of her own free will so she could smooth dark bangs out of her face as she surfaced, long braid swirling aorund the water around her like some black snake. "Alright. In the water." She was talking to both of them, and held a hand out to each. For Junko it was purely comforting, but for Jove it was a means to keep him at the surface.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 05, 2011 4:20 pm

Junko was nervous about getting in the water, yes..but she still knew Yaya wouldn't let anything happen to her so it wasn't her biggest worry. Her biggest worry was about to be revealed as her obi fell to the floor and she shyly shrugged off her yukata, folding it up and putting it and the obi on the bench with her towel. Now she was left in a shimmering black bikini, her arms wrapping around her middle and a deep blush rushing to her cheeks. She was very, very, very glad Seiji wasn't here and it was just Yaya and Jove right now. Jove didn't seem the type to leer, and Yaya was...well...Yaya was Yaya. But Junko had never felt so exposed before. She'd kept her yukata on when helping Natalia wash her tail and then she'd kept the curtains closed when taking her own shower so the werelemur hadn't seen anything unless she looked in secret. The only time she'd undressed in front of anyone was when she'd been changing to wear one of Sin's dresses or one of Belladonna's dresses; this was not the same thing. Junko was standing in a tiny little black bikini...okay maybe not tiny but it was certainly way less than anything Junko had ever worn before. She looked up from her reflection in the water's surface when Yaya told her it was safe to just jump in if she wanted, blinking and looking confused. What? Huh? Oh! Right, right. They were here for swimming lessons. She'd actually kind of forgotten where she was in her discomfort over this bikini. The store had had no one-pieces left or she would've gotten one of those.

Junko was not just jumping in. The ghoul sat down on the floor and dipped her legs in first, scooting forward and taking Yaya's hand as she eased into the water instead of foolishly jumping in like Yaya had said it would alright for her to do. Once she was in she refused to let go of Yaya's hand, her arms were raised over the water as she settled into it, and for now she was keeping close to the pool's edge with a face that read 'Oh, Jack I'm in the water I'm actually in the water!' She wasn't terrified or anything, and she actually looked much better about this now that she was actually in it. So far it was like being in a bath...a much, much larger bath. And being in the water kind of took the attention away from what she was wearing! Yay! She looked to Jove to make sure he was alright considering he was the smallest of all of them. Did water and furry tails mix well? She couldn't imagine they did. "This isn't so bad." So far.

Jove jumped as Yaya pulled the towel away, and gave a little whine as he tried to grab it back. Wearing so little around the ghouls was unseemly for a fluffy little pup, and being all fur-less was disconcerting and quite frankly, somewhat uncomfortable. He wrapped his arms around himself, shooting sad little glances at both Yaya and Junko, not intentionally of course, but that sort of thing tended to happen when a pup has it's safety blanket removed.

Unfortunately the other thing about having his towel taken away was that both ghouls would be able to see the giant bruise on the left side of his body. For Jove it was nothing more than a birthmark or another one of his freckles, except it alarmed everyone who saw it. His skin was dark and mottled from his hip to the back of his left shoulder, an unhealing stretch of damaged flesh that very clearly marred his otherwise pale body. Not that it hurt him any, despite it's appearance. The only time it pained him was when he got hurt naturally.

He frowned at the water, and then sat down at the side of the pool the way Junko had. Except he was more hesitant about getting in. Now he could clearly see how deep it was, what with both ghouls up to their chests in it, and his own irrational fear made him blush. But the more he hesitated the more he blushed, the pale glow lighting up his cheeks.

Before Yaya could urge him in again, he screwed up his face into a stubbornly set expression, and turned around to crawl in backwards. It wasn't so bad, slowly and cautiously sliding into the water. It was all well and good until his toes slipped against the tile, and he dropped into the pool with a splash.

Yaya let Junko maintain a death grip on her hand, but she did give the other ghoul an odd sort of look. "Put your arms in the water, silly." Really now, it was just water, it wouldn't bite. She could sort of see hoe it might make a person nervous, in an abstract sort of sense. She herself was terrified of wild fire, so she understood fear. It was just the idea of water being threatening that didn't seem to click in her mind. Obviously it could be dangerous, but for her it was very much a part of her that she couldn't see it that way.

Jove was regarded with a patient look. She sort of felt bad for having taken the towel away, but he couldn't take it swimming with him. It would have bogged him down. She didn't pay the bruise any mind, just like she'd never payed Christof's stitches any mind. It was just a facet of his appearance.

She watched him as disregarded her hand to climb in herself, smiling at his obvious bravery. At least until he slipped and fall in. The djinn didn't even think. She released Junko's hand and reached down towards that pale body to grab him by the forearms, hoisting him right back up to the surface. Now, he didn't need to breath, she was pretty sure, but falling into the pool had to be a startling thing. Bumping his rear with her knee she nudged him higher and curled her arm around his smaller body so he was held against her side safely. "You alright?" Physically he was, but she wasn't asking about that.

With him in her arms, head safely above the water, she turned to glance at Junko to see how she'd handled that little bit of excitement. Yaya herself didn't seem to have even batted an eye lash at it all.

Oh, right. Arms in the water. Heh. Junko lowered her arms to let them dip into the water a bit, feeling silly for acting so scared of water. It wasn't the water she was scared of, it was the possibility of drowning. Duh! She watched Jove quietly, looking mildly concerned by all the injuries he seemed to have. He was a ghost, right? So...that must have just been something he had upon his death? Or something. He wasn't wincing or whimpering in pain or anything like that so obviously it wasn't something to be concerned about. He was a quiet one though! Was he shy? Junko wouldn't push it if he was, considering she was almost the same way upon arriving to the school in the beginning of the year.

As he plopped right into the water Junko giggled, pressing her fingers to her lips and for some reason not even considering that he could have the ever living undeath scared out of him over this. She thought he did it on purpose! Honest! And Yaya handled it so well! She did move closer to the edge of the pool while her friend was distracted, however. Junko didn't want to fall in too! She was heavier than an absolutely adorable little ghostling. "You're braver than me, Jove!" She chirped, thinking that even if it wasn't on purpose maybe pretending it had been intentional would help keep him calm if he freaked out? Junko held onto the edge of the pool wall and dipped down enough that her shoulders were under the water, standing up quickly again. That was enough experimenting! She'd let Yaya instruct her on what to do next. Yup.

"Soooo..what're we doing first?" Could she hang on to the wall? She liked hanging on to the wall. Junko was trying hard to look brave for Yaya and Jove's sake though. The pup looked more nervous than she did! And she didn't want to try Yaya's seemingly endless patience.

Aksaja grumbled softly under his breath as he made his way toward the building that housed the pool. It was rather embarrassing for him to admit that he actually didn't know how to do something, but well . . . somehow, he had the feeling it would be even more embarrassing to drown or whatever.

At first, he hadn't been at all worried about such a possibility - after all, he had wings. He could simply fly above the water or something if the boat crashed. Like the train had. Stupid train. However, thoughts in that direction led his mind to a few comments he'd overheard others making about the last 'field trip' and disastrous things that had occurred in Christmas world . . . or whatever it was called. And he remember then how he'd been completely unable to shift forms.

Which made him think that maybe it wouldn't be quite so simple. So when Yaya had mentioned teaching those who wanted to learn how to swim, the lightning dragon had kind of grudgingly asked to attend her little 'class'.

Of course, he hadn't realized until now, having just walked through the door, that swimming would mean everyone wearing less clothing than usual. Sloooowly, Aksaja's brows went up as he eyed Yaya, then Junko, and finally Jove. Hmn. Well, maybe this could be fun after all.

Jove had slipped under the water and was scooped back up so quickly, all he could do was blink with a startled expression at Junko, and then over his shoulder at Yaya. It was as if he was asking with his eyes, "What just happened there?"

His appearance had changed almost significantly during his dunking, his ears now stuck out wetly to the sides, and his fluffy hair now lay flat. It looked longer when wet, and gave the child a more feminine appearance. His bangs hung straight down, casting shadows over his glowing eyes. Under the water his curly tail poofed out to it's fullest extent and floated loosely with every wave.

The puzzled look on his face slowly dissipated, replaced by a perked up glance in Junko's direction. She thought he was brave? That did make him feel a lot better, if still somewhat confused, and he did his best to puff up like that was exactly what he was going for! Although he didn't actually manage to puff up any, what with his puff currently plastered to his head, it did spur him on somewhat.

He nodded to Yaya, to confirm he was okay, and then made some tentative dog-paddle motions in the water. He wasn't ready to leave his friend's grasp just yet, but it seemed to be a natural response to being held in the water. It wasn't until he glanced over his shoulder at Yaya that he noticed an unfamiliar face approaching and stilled his weak paddling.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 05, 2011 6:23 pm

For a very brief moment their She and Jove stared at each other as he worked out just what exactly had happened. He looked startled, but not scared, so she gave him calm eyes, smiling benignly. Glancing up only when Junko gave him praise. "Oh yes, very brave," she agreed, sniffing in amusement. Without even knowing it the futakuchi-onna had said the perfect thing in response to that little mishap. He might have been young, but the ghostling was indeed male, and every male loved a good ego stoke.

With him tucked safely in against her side she turned her attention to the other ghoul as she inquired what to do next, lifting her free hand to gesture vaguely at where she was holding the edge of the pool. "First you let go and move away from the wall." She grinned as she said it, and there was the tiniest hint of satisfaction hidden within that dark curl of lips. She wasn't sadistic, and these were her friends, but it was amusing seeing them so very out of their element where safety was no concern.

She could feel Jove moving, and glanced down to see him paddling experimentally. "Good job, Jove." Of course the action was slightly short lived with the arrival of Aksaja. Yaya actually looked up before he had made it half way to the pool but she felt the ghostling still as he too noticed the dragon.

"You're late." She grinned as she spoke, her tone was teasing. Clearly she hadn't given much concern to his tardiness. "Come on in, the waters fine." She gave the the surface of the pool a little smack to send waves out from her hands. "I was just about to go over floating."

Haha! That was so adorable how confused he looked! It was like a small child who'd just done something by accident and had no idea what just happened. He looked so lost, the poor thing. Junko giggled again as he tried to puff himself up with pride, reaching over to give him a gentle scritch at the base of one ear. A reward for the cutie, of course! At Yaya's instruction to let go of the wall Junko blinked and just stared at her. Huh? What was Yaya talking about? She wasn't holding onto the wall! Not at all! Not even...a little...

...Fiiiiiine. Junko pouted a little and released the wall, taking a couple very careful steps away from it and closer to her friend. She was ready to cling to her if she had to, but the ghoul was still trying to suck it up. She could totally do this! She watched as Jove began to doggy paddle and very nearly squealed with delight. That. Was. So. CUTE! Eeeeeeee! Junko settled on giggling and watching him, a bright smile on her face.

She didn't hear Aksaja arrive until Yaya announced someone was late and even Jove had stopped paddling, looking up to see the dragon boil standing there. Oh crap! Junko blushed and ducked into the water as far as just below her nose, sidling behind Yaya a little. She was very nearly naked and now there was another person here! Crap! It was okay with Yaya and little Jove but...anyone else?!
