It was sunny today. The day was warm, but not too hot. Birds chirped in the trees above while small squirrels raced through the branches on their endless quests for nuts. The grass was cool and almost soft, a few blades barely hanging on to the morning dew. It was early afternoon, and with the weather so perfect any sensible Soquili would be content to lay down and simply bask in the shining sunlight. But Tyler didn't like basking. She didn't like sitting around and waiting for things to happen. She was a prankster and a foal. Early afternoon was meant for playing and trying to trick an unsuspecting passerby into falling into a puddle of mud or a hole she had dug. Tripping too. A vine stretched taut across two trees could send an oblivious creature tumbling to the ground. Tripping was Tyler's favourite, because sometimes her victims would leave small trinkets on the ground from the fall. However, there were no Soquili to prank today. Her mother, who sometimes played with her on slow days like this, was no where in sight. Tyler was alone and bored, which was NOT a good combination. Normally she would wander off to seek out someone to prank, but she knew that her mother would be mad if she wandered off without saying where she was going. Thus, Tyler was confined to the meadow. With a heavy and frustrated sigh, the filly rested her head down on the small pillow she always carried with her. She could already tell how horrible this day was going to be.

Sunny days. They were not this colt's favorite. The only good thing about these type of days was that the brightness hid his glowing eyes, glowing spots on his legs and his icy horns. Other than that, Abbadon didn't favor sunny days. It was the reason that he mainly remained in the dark shadows of the forest whenever he roamed away from his mother, siblings and stallion that was with them. He never knew why he roamed from them either, something in him just made him feel rather distant from them and thus always caused him to put some space between him and his family. He wasn't sure if it was from his appearance, or just a trait inherited by his unknown father. Either way, Abbadon almost always found himself, either trailing behind the family group, or just roaming away entirely. When he did move away, he always found his way back, but always received an earful from his mother. She wasn't sure why he always did this, despite how many times he got scolded for it. Perhaps that was another reason he did it, he was a disappointment? Whatever.
This day wasn't any different as the dark colt wandered through the trees. Except, his path was coming to an end and ahead of him, was just a clear patch of grass. Probably a meadow of some kind. He stopped in his tracks as his red eyes peered through the trees to the expanse. He debated on staying in the forest, or continuing forward and through the meadow. Doing this, he ran the risk of meeting other soquili that were there to graze, but, they weren't the only ones who were hungry. The growl coming from his stomach was enough evidence and logic for him to go out and 'endanger' himself on running into others. With a snort and a flick of his tail, he pressed on, eyes wincing when he stepped out of the forest and his eyes adjusted to the light. After they were fine at looking out, the colt moved forward to find a good patch of grass to graze on.

Tyler's ear pricked forward at the sound of another Soquili entering the meadow. Her first thoughts went to her mother, hoping that she had returned with some yummy berries to make up for the torturous wait she had made Tyler sit through. Her imagination ran away from her quickly, and Tyler could already taste the sweet berries in her mouth. However, when she stood up to greet her mother, Tyler found herself in an isolated meadow with a strange Soquili. The filly started, unable to run yet unable to attack. Sure, she was a daredevil and troublemaker by nature, but she wasn't strong enough nor fast enough to defend herself against an outright attack. Tyler gulped and decided to take the gamble of staying where she was to see what the other Soquili would do. Upon making this decision, Tyler realized with slight embarrassment that the Soquili was simply another foal like her, light brown in complexion. From across the meadow, Tyler couldn't tell whether it was a boy or girl, nor if the foal was friendly or not. Tyler snorted at herself. Was it not in her curious nature to go and find out more about the foal? What was she doing just standing here like a frightened squirrel? It wasn't as if the foal could easily overpower her. Feeling quite a bit silly about the whole fiasco, Tyler began a slow and easy trot towards the other foal, determined to rid herself of her dreadful boredom.

Walking further into the meadow, he caught sight of something moving in the distance. With that, he stopped and watched it silently. As it got fully into view, Abbadon finally could make out that it was another soquili and by the size of it, it was another foal. The colt snorted at that, already having the feeling that the other foal, whether a filly or a colt would want to play with him at first, then be extremely disappointed or frightened when they came up and saw a monster. So, to avoid this, as the other foal started to approach him, he turned to trot around the other. True, it was the long way through the meadow, but it would have to do.
