[X]There were so many possibilities for after school activities. Unfortunately for Nerissa they just lacked a certain degree of appeal that would have motivated her to join them. The baking class was not her thing. Not that she didn't have a sweet tooth, but Nerissa preferred to eat cookies then make them. The running club sounded a bit vague and pointless. She could run just fine if she was taken with the urge but didn't see the point of making it a obligation. The same went with the swim club too. One after another, Nerissa wandered past the doors in the school hallway and glanced at the large hand made posters pinned to them. She wanted to get involved in something at least. Something that would keep her entertained after school, or at least something that gave her to look forwards to. Nerissa stopped outside a gaming club door and shook her head in amusement at the elf rolling dice on the poster. Cute...but too childish for her.

The further down the hall she went, the more likely it seemed that there was going to be no interesting club to join. At least that is what she had thought until she came to such a plain looking poster. Computer Programing? Well now, that had the one word needed to catch her attention, and another one that she had some interest in as well. Nerissa stepped into the room and glanced around. Was it empty? "Helloooooooo?" she called out. It certainly seemed pretty empty! To her left, on a desk was a scattering of printed out folded pamphlets. Nerissa selected one and unfolded it. Glancing over the material she pursed her lips.

"Hmm." She hummed to herself. Now that did look rather interesting...

Jeremiah was known for his flair of attitude and interests and as he walked down the hall to the Computer Programming club, he definitely got a few hellos from several of the doors. This year he was going to stick with his major hobby - the one thing that he was going to do with his life. Miah was going to join this club regardless of what his family thought.

As he strolled through the door with his typical flourish, Jeremiah stared with dismay at the mostly empty room. What was going on here? This club was going to be great and there wasn't anyone but a cute girl in the clubroom? He frowned before he thought about having more alone time to get to know such a beauty.

With a Cheshire grin spreading across his face, he did a dramatic bow at the girl, saying "Hello! A pleasure to make your acquaintance. I'm Jeremiah, Miah to friends. Who might you be?"

The clubs day was starting to draw to a close and Alastar was nearing the end of the line of classrooms set up for the event. He'd been there since the start going through all the clubs and activities on offer and had stopped to have a chat with nearly every group, weighing his options. His previous schools hadn't offered much beyond a few sport clubs, so he was a bit excited to see so much variety available. Being new to the area he hadn't much of a social life and was keen on finding something to help fill his afternoons besides television and the internet.

Going from room to room he spoke with the club representatives, with an easy smile and soft tone, he offered up the expect pleasantries; chatting about the club activities and obligations as his mind tallied the pros and cons of joining. Several of the sports groups appealed to him, but mostly because they were the kinds of things he enjoyed doing on his own time anyway. Though ultimately he decided against most them, joining those clubs would mean an obligation to attend regular training, practises and competitions. Commitments he felt would detract from the stress relief these activities offered, they were things he did for the fun of it, not for the sake of competing.

Alastar had come away a handful of leaflets and vague ideas of what he wanted to do, but had yet to offer anything more than a 'maybe'. He wanted something new, that would be engaging and didn't leave him stuck with unwanted obligations; day to day life had enough of those as it was. It was near the end of the day anyway and there were only a few rooms left to check, it seemed the next one was for the Computer Club. Sticking his head in he found the room nearly deserted. Maybe he'd left it too late and they were already finishing up for the day? Well he was there, so he reasoned he might as well have a quick look.

Walking over to the desk, he offered a soft smile and nodded slightly to two other students as he passed them. Picking up on of the pamphlets on display he glanced over it quickly before taking another look around the room, hoping to catch the eye of however was in charge. Not sure what to do he quizzed the two students nearest the desk. "Hi. You don't happen to know who'd be in charge, do ya?"

Nerissa took her reading material to one of the vacant desks and shifted her little behind up onto the top. As she dragged her finger over the page, skimming the words there for ones that caught her attention, someone else entered the room. It was really the bow that caught her attention. Who bowed anymore? It was certainly a amusing way to get someones attention though, she had to give him that.

"The drama club is about four downs back down the hall Jeremiah." She replied to his greeting while folding her pamphlet back up. "But in case you already knew that, my name is Nerissa." She flapped the pamphlet back and forth in one hand absently. "It's nice to see I'm not going to be standing in here alone." She began to engage Jeremiah in conversation. He looked like a nice enough of a fellow, full of life and good humor. It was that grin of his and the goofy bow that made it easier for her to make the choice in striking up some conversation with him.

It did seem like they were not going to be alone here though. A few moments later a older boy with the whitest hair she'd ever seen walked in. Nerissa blinked her eyes a moment in an attempt to see if perhaps it was just her eyesight playing tricks on her. Maybe he was really a very light blond and it was the unflattering overhead school lights that made him look white. No...as awkward as it seemed, he had very very white hair! He had smiled in his passing, and Nerissa waved her pamphlet at him in answer.

So then...it seemed like this was the group at the moment? A charming silly young man and a white haired fellow and her? Hmm... Nerissa glanced around the empty room and spoke up when the white haired boy posed his question. "The pamphlet I was reading stated that the club members all graduated last year. So I guess this means there is no one in charge. It would explain why the advertising poster is so plain. Maybe a teacher drew it up just to fulfill the obligation of presenting the club before closing it?" She flicked the pamphlet down on the desk after speaking and then pointed to herself. "I'm Nerissa by the way, and this guy here is Miah." Her finger twitched to point to Jeremiah as she took it upon herself to introduce him.

"I think I'm going to sign up for the club regardless. There is a certain degree of appeal to taking over a club and saving it don't you think?"

Jeremiah chuckled merrily at the jibe, shrugging it off as if it were nothing. It was really hard to get Miah to be serious about anything and when people teased or bullied him it wasn't exactly easy. "Ahh! But that I did for half a semester last year before I decided that the people in there were just a little too dramatic for my tastes. I like to be the sole actor in a full audience versus just another star in the dark night's sky." His voice enunciated each word as if he were a poet versus the actor he was claiming to be.

When she mentioned being alone, Jeremiah shook his head continuing, "Such a beautiful girl should never have to suffer with such a problem." He would have continued with his corny version of charm if he hadn't noticed the older male walk in.

Nodding his head regally at his white haired elder Jeremiah said, "What Nerissa says is true - the club graduated last year and from what I remember the club sponsor isn't very active, either." With a shrug of his shoulders he said, "If I had been the only member that would have not taken me away from this venture but having companions would be lovely."

"Oh right.. Hmmm..." Alastar placed the pamphlet up to his lips, a far off look in his eyes as he lost himself in thought for a moment. Tapping the brochure a few times he suddenly snapped out as if just remembering about the other two students. "Oh sorry, I'm Alastar. Ward." Alastar offered his hand towards Jeremiah. "Sorry 'Miah', was it?"

"I'm surprised the club was allowed to come to this, shows a significant lack of foresight on last years members, not to have made better arrangements. Or was there a particular reason that there weren't any members from younger grades?"

He struck her as something of a day dreamer. The way Alastar gazed off into space, it seemed to Nerissa that his mind was focused on something else. First impressions and all being made, it seemed that the two boys in the room with her were pretty nice. Miah was very amusing. Despite his claim not to be as dramatic as the drama kids, she found that hard to swallow. He was clearly a very easy going and jokerish kind of guy. His corny little line and come on to her was clear of that. She had been in the process of determining a proper response that was neither too flirty or cold. She didn't want to seem like the sort of girl who snubbed guys like him, but at the same time she wasn't going to make it seem like she was easy to charm.

She was fortunate that Alastar had shown up then. When he did snap out of his drifting daze he revealed himself to be more eloquent then she had figured him to be. Huh. It seemed both of the boys in the room were gifted with speech in a different way. Nerissa allowed her smile to grow. She flipped open the pamphlet she had just closed and glanced over the information presented.

"I have to agree about the short sighted nature of the previous members." She flipped the paper around and pointed with one fingertip at a paragraph. "Who from the younger grades would be excited about working on programs meant to help track the weather patterns?" With a disapproving shake of her blue haired head Nerissa turned the paper around and glanced further down the page.

"They made this club sound as boring as doing laundry. There are so many possibilities and potential for such a club. Like...creating a video game! It would all be funded by the school even. How could someone pass up that opportunity? What do you think Miah?" She mused.

Jeremiah grinned and shrugged before saying, "C'est la vie! We can just turn it around and have a good time by ourselves. I was definitely interested in learning to code something, anything really. I think if we do a video game that we would definitely get some interest from the gaming club. Those guys are pretty passionate about their gaming and so it would appeal to them on that level. We could enlist the help of the art club in coming up with some example sketches and the like..." He tapped his lip, coming up with a million things that they could do together and get the other members of various clubs to help out on. "First we'd need to elect the offices, so should we do that now?"

Alastar was a little surprised at how enthusiastic the other two were, he still wasn't even sure if he would join the club. Jeremiah's enthusiasm in fact was particularly infectious and the idea of making their own game did pique Alastar's interest. The lack of supervision and existing members did provide the opportunity to create something new and tailored to their interests; but at the same time it would mean a commitment of time and effort that he wasn't sure he was willing to make. As Alastar weighed the pros and cons in his head, he started on the practical issues facing them. "Well let us not get ahead of ourselves. For starts can we even take over? Are there any minimum requirements? As it stands we have..." Picking up the registry sheet sitting on the desk, a quick glance told him what he needed to know. "... We have the grand total of three people and that's assuming the three of us sign up. Hrmm... Guess anybody else who dropped by during the day were put off by the lack of people? Assuming they didn't just join some other clubs before even getting this far."

Alastar fidgeted with his classes, a sign he was thinking something he didn't like. He preferred to assume the best in people but sometimes he had to acknowledge there were lazy apathetic people and some of them worked as educators. "I'm not entirely sure I'm going to join yet, but if I did there would be a lot to do... We'd have to have a talk with whatever teachers is supposed to be running this club for a start. Maybe try and drum up some more interest like Miah suggested. And a lot of research, I know a bit about programming, nothing up to a whole game, so we'd have to figure out something that's within our abilities but still interesting enough to be worth doing."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 13, 2011 11:58 pm

Nerissa was unquestionably amused. Though Alastar was being cautious about saying whether or not he was going to join, he was talking rationally like one who already had. Miah was clearly full of ideas concerning the social network possibilities. Nerissa laid her pamphlet down on the desk and sauntered up towards the chalkboard. While it was all well and good to sit and vocalize the possibilities, she preferred to see things done in the physical sense.

Nerissa nabbed a stick of chalk and drew a line across the top of the chalkboard. While Alastar continued to give his input in accordance to the club's situation, she began to scrawl in cursive, just a touch sloppily, a list of things under the word Agenda she placed above the line.

1) Accounting of club members.
2) Delegation of Club Office
3) Verification of club sponsorship.

"There." She said and took a step back from the chalkboard. "These are the three main points, right?" Nerissa turned her head to look over her shoulder at the two boys.

"Once these three things are done, we can move on to the rest. You both have good thoughts concerning the club, but like you sort of pointed out Alastar, planning beyond this point-" Nerissa tapped her chalk to the board and circled number three. "It pretty much moot. I think the brochures over there had a mention of the members needed for the club. I think it said we needed a President, a Treasurer, and a Secretary right? Did I miss anything?"

Nerissa set the chalk back into it's tray and turned her gaze to Alastar. If he joined that would give them enough members to keep the club active. Of course, like they had both noted, other members really would be useful in order to make it a good club.

"I'm personally great with computers. I know a little about hardware, but primarily I know software and coding. I could teach you two anything you wanted to know about the basics?"

"I think we could appeal to the hackers on the idea of creating a game so maybe we just need to advertise and get the attention of the school at large. C'mon 'Star! You know you want to run for office and be the president or treasurer! What will Neri and I do if you don't want to join? It doesn't look like anyone else is coming and I don't want this club to close just because the last people were sticks in the mud." Jeremiah gave out his nicknames for them with familiarity he really didn't have. His voice was a mixture of wheedling and begging as he turned his best puppy dog look at the older male.

"I mean, really, you seem like you'd be the one to trust with money and Neri seems to be the most organized of us. So we sorta already have our positions if everyone is cool with what I'm saying. Think about how cool we could make this club 'Star! And Neri, you can teach me anything you want to anytime." He winked as he finished off what he thought was a convincing argument. "It's not like it'd be hard to convince the sponsor to come around if we have a club that actually is interesting."
PostPosted: Mon Mar 14, 2011 8:35 pm

Alastar sat on the edge of the desk while Nerissa wrote out the points on the board, she seemed to be assuming Alastar would join but he was still debating whether or not he'd join. In fact seeing the challenges ahead written out like that was pushing him more towards leaving and heading back towards the swimming club. Then Jeremiah spoke up and Alastar realised he'd be joining.

Five minutes earlier he would have walked away with a clear conscience, after all if the club flopped it wasn't because of anything he did. However the way Jeremiah had phrased, it made it seem like if Alastar walked away now he was making the conscious choice to end the club. Without intending it Jeremiah had stumbled onto one Alastars weaknesses and guilted him into submission.

Letting out a resigned sigh he crossed his arms and nodded. "Fine you've won me over. It's not like I really had any other plans anyway and it could be a great learning experience. Let's get a few things clear though; my name is Alastar, not 'Star'.Sounds like something you'd call a pet... Also don't push your luck with the puppy dog eye, being cute only gets you so far."

Picking up the registry sheet again Alastar quickly signed his name and handed the page to Nerissa. "So then, if no one turns up in the next five minutes I guess it's us three. Nerissa and I will be the treasurer and secretary, but I think you make the obvious choice for president, Jeremiah. What with your people skills and all."

Nerissa could not keep the smile from touching her lips when Alastar handed her the signed paper. Regardless of the other two's opinions concerning the club, she felt a sense of excitement when she looked down at that simple sheet of paper. Being a part of the club felt more like the potential start of..well..a legacy maybe? Whatever they chose to do could set the precedence for any future club members. They didn't have any old members hanging about telling them how 'the old club' did this or that. It was all new, all them, and in the future it would be how they ran the club that carried on in traditions.

Or maybe she was just over imagining the importance of their contribution because she just wanted it to seem that special. Shaking her head a little at herself, she set the paper aside and found her amused expression turning back towards Miah. He did seem to like renaming people didn't he? She supposed her shortened name, Neri, only made sense. Not that she found it particularly flattering though. At least Star had a certain shine to it hmm?

Nerissa crossed over to where Miah was after being scolded for bestowing such a 'cute' nick name on Alastar and placed her hand on his shoulder. "I agree with you Alastar. You ought to be the president of the club Miah. Your far more outgoing and outspoken. You have better people skills then I do, and your the one who had the excellent ideas for getting others involved." Tilting her head she looked to Alastar.

"I'm happy being the secretary of the club, unless you think you would handle it better. You did have excellent points earlier and seem to be a pretty well put together kinda guy." While being the secretary would have been fun, Nerissa wanted this club to get off to a strong start. That meant addressing skills verses desires. If Alastar and Jeremiah both had preferences, then she figured it would be a good idea to consider those as much as who may be more adapt at whichever job. It wasn't like they couldn't trade off later anyways.

Nerissa's lips pursed thoughtfully, as Jeremiah made...what was it...his third pass at her? It was hard to brush aside so many small comments, and despite herself she felt her cheeks flush just a little bit. "We'll see about what is taught later Puck." She returned with a small push of her hand against his shoulder. Such a flirt! He truly was a dramatic individual.
PostPosted: Tue Mar 15, 2011 7:01 pm

Jeremiah realized he'd overstepped some boundary and tried to act like a more mature person after the shove. With a calming of his mischievous ways he sobered up and said, "I don't really care what position is what I just want to get this club up to the thing it could be. Imagine what we could leave behind and the people we could tempt over! But really, in all seriousness I'm really wanting this club to live and I'm sorry if I'm being too hard to handle. Sometimes I get a little carried away..."

With a somewhat sober expression he signed his name in a ridiculously fancy scrawl after walking to where Nerissa had pushed the paper aside. It was a sore subject when girls teased him that his writing was nicer than theirs so he pushed the paper away quickly after signing it. "So do we want to write on a piece of paper what we'd really like to do then put it in a box and mix it up to see what everyone really wants to do? Or maybe we could make some sort of speech?"

Alastar gave a small shrug and nodded at Nerissa. "That's quite alright with me, if you want to be secretary I'll be club treasurer. I'm competent enough with math and computer skills to work excel, can't imagine there is much else to being a treasurer. Doubt we'll have a massive budget or anything to worry about." Alastar watched Nerissa and Jeremiah for a moment, wondering if there was something else going on here that he was missing. They had been talking before he'd entered the room, so maybe they were continuing on that conversation. Or maybe they already knew each other from outside of the club? He'd have to remember to bring it up later on after the business at hand was dealt with. After all if they were going to be running this club together they'd have to get to know each other a little better.

When Jeremiah started apologising it took Alastar by surprise, he certainly didn't see anything worth apologising for and quickly raised a hand, waving it as he brushed the matter aside. "It's alright Miah. Your enthusiasm is to be commended, and is exactly the kind of thing we need to help rejuvenate the club."

"I'm not really sure we need to draw lots from a box or do anything as grandiose as deliver speeches on the matter. There's only the three of us so we might as well just discuss ideas openly. I do like the idea of a game? My only concern would be choosing a genre that'd be within our abilities. Perhaps you'd like to suggest something Nerissa; since you seem to have the most experience with coding?"
