There was one blessed thing about today's outing to the park: Mrs. CrumplePuff, Julian's nanny, found it absurd for Julian to go running around in his good uniform. Her theory was that he was just going to get them dirty, and really his mother should think of these things before sending a growing boy out to play. Of course, these things were unimportant to his guardian Mercedes, who'd only given in to the idea because Mrs. CrumplePuff wouldn't shut up about them. Now he had several sets of long and short sleeve shirts (all altered for his third arm, of course), plus jean shorts to run around in.

These play dates gave him fleeting tastes of freedom. Especially since his nanny was old, legally blind, and had a habit of falling asleep when she knitted. Which was her hobby of choice while Jules was allowed to "go play". So this time, he'd waited for her to doze off...and then he took off, following one of the many paved paths that wound through the park.

It brought him through a more scenic area, the path framed by trees and flower beds. Somewhere along the way, there was a bridge that crossed over a brook, and it was here that he stopped. It was quiet, peaceful...and something inside Julian felt strangely at home.

Mischa hummed softly as he sat atop of one of the trees near his favorite spot in this park. It's greenery was so very lovely, and the sounds, the little creek that ran through the trees, and the tweeting of the birds that were all around created a splendid atmosphere, where he could have dozed off very easily.

HOWEVER! Something new and unusual was coming from near straight below him. The sounds of feet that came across the bridge below him startled him, just a bit. With the reflexes of an acrobat, he hooked his legs to the branch he was sitting on, and swung downwards, hanging upsidedown from where he had been only moments before.

His head popped out from the foliage, and he grinned at the rather nice looking boy who was below him.

"Hey there!" He called out, his hair going up to reveal his rather pointed ears, becoming a curly mess only contained by the hat he wore. "Whatcha doing?"

Julian jumped back a bit when a head suddenly appeared somewhere above him, his feet clip-clopping sharply against the wood of the bridge. His ears flicked forward and back and around quickly as he regained his composer, glaring distinctively. He did not like being startled; he was the one who sneaked up on people, not the other way around!

Smoothing out his shirt and snorting a bit, he set his shoulders back as he inspected the head. More tentacles...why are there so many children out there with tentacles? He really didn't understand the draw to them, but anyway.

"Walking," he stated simply, then pondered that thought a bit more. "Running away, actually." Well, not completely true...but it was a thought he entertained on a daily basis.

D'aww... The boy before him was absolutely adorable! Mischa gave him a happy grin, swinging down to land with a flutter before Julian, giving him a super quick look over. He seemed honest enough, and by honest, he meant he too, was a kid, and kids could be trusted. Atleast how it was in his book.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. Why are you running away? Did something happen?" He didn't WANT to pry, but running away is serious business. You don't JUST do it, unless you were a rebel, he supposed. But if something bad happened, he'd be more than willing to show the other his super awesome fort. One of many enterprises that were popping up in parks recently. It was a hobby.

"If you're running away, would you like some company?"

There was another step back as the other spawn boy hopped down from the tree branch, and Julian took a moment to further inspect this new acquaintance. Definitely one of the more...eclectic people, that he'd met in his short life. Though, there were those wings, and for a moment Jules felt a pang of jealousy. Yet not jealousy, something a little stronger than that. Like, he wanted to pull this creature into a web, and keep him.

That was a strange, new thought. How interesting.

"Why does anyone run away? To leave things behind," he responded to the first question rather easily. Then he had to bite his tongue and rethink the next answer, because he definitely almost spat out something nasty.

"...For a little while. Sure." That comment came out a little more slowly, after having to think on it for that second. "Do you have a place to hide for a while? I think I'm being followed."

Yeah, no, but it sounded good. Little antlered snake in the grass.

"Bad things..." A thumb made it's way to the curly-haired boy's lips, as he made a sad, but thoughtful expression, thinking. If that was the case, then he shouldn't pry any further.. Bad things aren't easily talked about.. He knew this from experience..

"I do, but to get there, you have to get off the bridge." He pointed below them, to the trickling water below. It was clean, one of the few clean water places he had found in a long while. So much contamination by the creatures of this world.. Maybe when he grew older, he'd find a way to clean it all up.

"We need to follow the stream downwards, away from the park." He hopped up, onto the railing of the bridge, holding his hand out to the other boy. "Trust me?"

Trust me? What a dumb question to ask. Of course Julian didn't trust him, not entirely. Really, the other boy shouldn't be trusting him. Who knew what sort of trouble Julian's lies would eventually get them into?

Giving a distasteful look to the offered hand, Julian attempted to pull himself up onto the railing of the bridge by himself. Using the word 'attempted' because cloven feet didn't allow him to have much grip. A huff, a struggle...his feet landed back on the bridge with a thunk-dunk.

"Why climb over when I can just walk around?" he muttered stubbornly, turning to do just that. He walked to the other side of the bridge and down the bank, his feet having a much easier time on the gravel and ground and dirt.

"Ready when you are," he said, stopping just at the water's edge.

"...." A rather displeased expression made it's way to Mischa's own face. He was trying to HELP, and this guy seemed to not even really care. Granted, it was hard to tell, because of the boys eyes. He was so used to reading expressions, but with eyes like that, Mischa wasn't sure what to think.

"Well.. If you were being chased, it would be faster. You know, if you really don't need my help, then you don't have to come. Hiding under the bridge would suffice for you, I guess." His words were mumbled, and he jumped down from his place on the railing, fluttering to a stop.

"You don't have to come, cause, really, who looks under bridges nowadays anyway." He was hurt. You could tell by the way his tentacles now hung limply by the sides of his head, instead of standing up in their normal, excited manner. "It's this way, if you care."

With a sad expression, he made his way down the stream, not bothering to walk, but flew, at a fast pace, but still one that could be kept up with.
