Hmmm...From what I've seen, it's really a controversial subject amongst fanfiction writers. I know there are some people who enjoy reading and writing it, but of course, there are those who think it's not only disgusting, but completely illogical, as well. As for where I stand...Well, I don't necessarily mind mpreg, I guess, but I don't particularly care for it, either, mainly for the reason that a lot of authors fail to do any research before writing. It's a very delicate issue, and work needs to be put into it in order for it to sound plausible.
Not only that, but it seems that the plotlines of mpreg stories tend to be really similar; it seems to me that most mpreg fics lack originality. Though, of course, there are exceptions...
Geh, I'd write more, but I really need to get to bed...D= *exhausted* ><

Well, if its in a particular fanfiction I don't really mind it...though I don't go looking for it either. Logically though I think somewhere in the future men WILL be able to carry children just like women can in this day and age. My reason? Well I watch discovery Health alot and one day I came across a certain 30 minute show that PROVED a baby can in fact grow outside the mother's uterus. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the baby is able to grow OUTSIDE of the uterus, then why can't men carry babies as well as their female counterparts? Males were not originally meant to be the carriers of children, or so we are made to believe. However, if a male were to produce a child through his own body you'd think he would experience extreme back problems. In addition to that, when giving birth he would most definitely cannot have a vaginal birth (for obvious reasons... stare ).

Some fanfictions are okay mpreg ones, and the thought of it is really cute. To think of someone other than a woman giving birth to life is a really sweet thought.

I don't generally read a lot of mpreg, but I must say, there's one that I'm completely in love with, and that's, 'Don't Think of Me' by M.D. Sora. It's just awesome. wink

I haven't read an mpreg before. Though, I may read 'Don't Think of Me', since I've read fics by M.D. Sora before.

There are only three senerious in which it makes sense for a male to be pregnent:
1. Genetic alteration/Mutations/Alien/Non-human/etc.
2. Magic
3. Technology, such as an artificial womb - either inside a male or in an outer environment.
Typically, a male would require a circumsision in order to give birth (assuming he had some way of carrying the child to term internally), which is a smallish surgery where they basically cut you open and take the baby out.
In general, it is a difficult topic to use as the basis for a fanfiction, and requires some reserch and a lot of work - but they can turn out amazingly well.

*nod* As long as the author researches properly, it should be all right.
By the way, do you mean a Caesarean section? There's a big difference between that and circumcision. ^^;

True, in a sense. xD its a pretty nasty process... [I've had the unfortunate pleasure of WATCHING am educational video of a woman giving birth... *shudders* Dx It was SO disgusting.] But I guess people don't see it in as bad of light because its natural. Mpreg is NOT natural by any means.. Its a culmination from the minds of sickly perverse fans. :/
Sorry, I'm biased. xD

O_O As for my own opinion on mpreg, I agree with many of the replies I saw here... I don't really mind it, but it's one of the things in yaoi I don't go hunting for (I like to see new things O_o;; if that doesn't sound strange...) Poorly written mpreg fanfics-- just like "sour" lemons-- make me want to vomit. I haven't read a lot of mpregs, so I don't have much say for it either... I have read (and I'm watching for it) one mpreg Riku/Sora and Leon/Cloud that I particularly remember and liked. The reason that males could give birth was because of a legend in the village-- it was quite clever in my mind... you just have to read it for yourself: Click here to read "Saratoga."That's my dumb little speech. *hands out cookies to everyone*

At least someone was listening! 3nodding And for all those people who keep saying its 'illogical', ITS NOT SO GET OVER IT. stressed I'm not trying to be rude or anything its just that it could happen somewhere down the road. Saying something is true when its not 100% proven is a little one-sided. I was a little pished when I kept reading, "Its illogical" over and over again. gonk Please stop and think before you reply solely on your emotions because Male Impregnation might just become a natural process, just as female impregnation is now. You never know. And there are some fanfictions, as well as fanart, that are cute and higly a pleasure to read or look at. I have a specific picture in mind that comes to mind when I say this and I cherish it whole-heartedly. I can't just flat out say, "I hate Male Impregnation because its gross". Alot of other things in this world is gross, why shun the thought of something new? Humans change with every new generation and adapt to what they are given (we have organs and muscles we no longer use in side of us, but they are still there). If males were to adapt to carrying a child then they wouldn't have to worry about their health and it could be as natural and healthy as a female carying a child. Of course as I've said before they would never be able to have a vaginal birth. Also, this would shine some light on all the male/male couples who wish to have children but can't. For women who are barren and can't have children, it gives them another chance to have children with the help of their spouse. Just please...think about it?
