Those are all really great but I especially like the third one down. Is it done on wood or did you paint it to make it look like that?

Thanks very much XD It's painted on plywood mounted on timber frames, I used acryllic paint in lots of watery layers to begin with which gives the effect of staining the woodgrain. I discovered the technique as a sort of happy accident when I was at college.

I especially love the first. What did you use? A drill and a scroll saw?

That's really neat. I love being able to see the grain of the wood like that.

My hands are not that steady razz It's quite small, about 40cm long. I used a photoshop and illustrator to make a cad file and got the pieces laser-cut. I tried it with plywood first but it caught fire! The small details of the design meant the laser stayed too long in one place, luckily the guy at the workshop was quite relaxed about it whee he suggested using MDF board (sometimes called 'superwood') which fared much better in the machine. some spraypaint, glue and patience later...

Aw thank you biggrin It's 3 metres tall, and if it were a complete circle 5 metres accross the diameter. I does come apart in four vertical sections, but they are really heavy! I Made them out of whole sheets of plywood bent into timber frames (which I also made) To get it from my studio into the exhibition space took ten guys just to carry it!
