It had been exactly one day (or so) since her near-drowning experience, and Lizzy found herself in the laundry room - the memories of detention still haunt her, of course, but not as much as before. As she collected the now washed and pressed duster jacket from the gnomes, she held it by the hanger before leaving - who know what he might have to say about her touching his things? He didn't seem to like her - or Demons in general, really - very much.
Then again, he had saved her from drowning, right? She remembered feeling rather irritated at someone's voice right before she passed out - someone familiar calling her 'stupid'. When she finally woke up from her nap, she found herself lying near the pond, with Jimmy beside her and a coat (the coat she had brought to the laundry room to be exact) covering the both of them, keeping her warm since... Well, spiders are cold blooded and she had always preferred to be warm.
Jimmy didn't seem all that traumatized with the experience, but Rosenthal seemed concerned. Ever since she had returned to her room looking miserable and wet, he had refused to leave her side, even leaving 'Kobold daddy duties' to Pugs instead. Now, he was riding on the top of her head as she made her way to the Reaper Dorms.
The Minipet was concerned alright - when Lizzy ran back crying that time, he had taken note of the unfamiliar smell of a boil on her. That coat had the exact same smell on it, although it was rather faint and smelt a little like Lizzy... Either way, if there was someone behind his owner's misery, he would have to take care of that person.
While none of the gnomes seemed to know which room belonged to 'Mac', when she threatened to toss one down the stairs, they managed to give her the dorm number of a boil who resembled her description of the Reaper. If it was the wrong one, then... Well, that's that. Standing outside the door, she raised her hand, hesitating for a second before knocking on it with her knuckle and taking a step back, a light frown on her face.
Meanwhile, Rosenthal tensed, ear wings wiggling; he could smell him... He's close now.

Yes, he saved her. Yes, he did not like Demons and No, he probably wouldn't ever fess up to saving her. Because, as previously mentioned, he did not like Demons. He also didn't think that Lizzy, whom during their last conscious meeting left in tears, would ever come to return his coat. By the time he had gotten back to his room that day still sopping wet, he wrote the coat off as a loss.
It was okay though.
He had a spare.
A spare that was currently hanging off of the back of his chair while he sat - or rather slouched - at his desk, his feet up on the wooden surface. A trio of Scareon kits; two normal brown ones and the much smaller black and teal runt; napped along his torso. Somehow, he still managed to play his DS game over the napping kits, thus he didn't mind so much that they were there; it wasn't until their beautiful natural brown Mother, Nina, decided to join the nap pile did it ever get too awkward. Thankfully, she was curled up on his desk instead, her chin on his booted foot.
At first, none of them moved when they heard the knock at the door; Nina and Mac looked up, but they went right back to their respective things, well, aside from Mac, who decided instead to give a call:
"I'm busy right now, go away!"

She twitched at the voice - yup, it was difficult to mistake that voice for anyone else's: that rude, racist- Oh wait, she was here to return him his jacket and thank him in person. As mean as he was to her the first time they met, he did save her and Jimmy (probably), which was enough to make her come all the way here rather than dump the jacket somewhere out of spite. Nobody else would own such an oddly colored piece of- Ugh, she should just bother him until he answers the door.
"I'm here to return the jacket," She probably sounded a tad irritated, more at herself than him, really, as she leaned against the wall beside the door. She paused, chewing her lower lip before sighing and adding, "It won't take up too much of your time..."
Rosenthal's ear wings twitched as a voice came from behind the door, leaning forward as if to have a better listen. He didn't recognize all the words, but he did understand 'go away' - it was rude to use that right? Especially on a ghoul? He narrowed his eyes,; this boil needed more discipline that he had originally thought!

Mac tensed. Oh great. There was a Demon on the other side of his door. Not any Demon, that Demon. The Not-Charlie he saved the other day, the ghoul that left crying, the one who seemed to really, really like Whip. He glanced over, spotting an empty bird stand; great, Whip was gone, probably out for exercise! Now he had no buffer!
"Deeeefinitely too busy to answer the door now." He called out, before looking around his very messy room once more. Jackdamnit what was he -- Oh, hey, he had a lap full of cute.
"Sorry Nina, it'll be for a good cause, I swear." He murmured to the natural Scareon while he scooped the kits off of his person and onto the desk, save for the runt who ended up being held around it's middle; thankfully it was too sleepy to think anything of it, and went right back to it's nap.
Despite his earlier comment, Mac stood and moved to answer the door, leaning a shoulder against it and staring down at her with unimpressed black eyes.
"What Jacket? It's not mine." He informed her flatly, the runt scareon kit hidden from her view on the other side of the door.

"I'll just wait outside here then," She informed him coolly as she considered sitting down; it sounded like he won't be opening the door anything soon, after all, especially now that he know who was on the other side. Just as she was about to, however, she heard the sound of the door opening and pushed herself off the wall so that she was facing him instead. While she had to look up to meet his gaze, Rosenthal had no problem looking at him in the eye from the start; sitting on someone's head, he had that advantage.
In fact, the Minipet stared glaring daggers at the boil, looking very much like a mafioso right out of a movie, the moment he opened the door.
Lizzy, unaware of what Rosenthal was doing, simply held out the coat by the hanger it had been draped on so that it was covering his body, tilting her head before answering flatly, "Really? It happens to fit you perfectly and is the same color and design as the one you wore the other day. Don't worry, the gnomes washed and pressed it for you - I'm sure I asked them to bleach it too. I didn't lay a single finger on it."
She then paused, finding it incredibly difficult not to throw a fit or burst into tears just by looking at his face, but she had to look at him while talking to him! Its only polite - besides, she still something else to say before leaving.
"And thank you very much for saving Jimmy and I - he is well and don't seem to remember the experience, and I'm thankful for that," She bowed the same way she would to customers in her mother's boutique - it made this so much easier! - before straightening up, raising the jacket up for him to take with a small, almost forced smile on her face.
Rosenthal managed to hold on through all that while glaring daggers at the stranger.

Black eyes shot up to look at the minipet balanced on her head. Was...Was it glaring at him?! He gave it a creeped out look before forcing himself to look back down at Lizzy. Rather, the coat that she was holding out to him . He wasn't sure whether to feel awkward or victorious; she didn't touch his coat, which was a victory, but at the same time the waterworks looked like they could come in at any time...which was awkward.
He didn't say a word to her, merely watching her, listening...and occasionally looking up at the Pata-Pata who seemed to be staring daggers into him. For a little while, Mac thought about what he would say, how he should respond, and the best thing to come out of his mouth?
"I didn't save you." Was a lie. Turning a bit with the pup still hidden in his hand behind the door, he pointed across the messy room to the green coat that was hanging off the back of a chair. "That's my coat." Another lie, but it was easier that way, wasn't it? No need to have this Demon girl hang around him anymore.
"Charlie must have stolen my spare."

"You're lying," She basically shot him down the moment he said that he didn't save her, although she did bother to hear him out before talking again, "Charlie won't be able to drag me out of water - does he even know how to swim? Anyway, even if he did, he wouldn't leave the jacket there." She paused, frowning before continuing, "He would also probably hurt himself, Jimmy or me in the process."
Another paused followed as she pushed the jacket at him, careful not to touch it or him as she did so, "But if you want me gone now, just take this and I'll leave. I bet you didn't want to see me anyway." She inhaled sharply as a means to control herself, eying him before gesturing at the jacket with a brief nod.
Rosenthal growled - or attempted to - it sounded more like it was choking than anything; that creeped out look was a victory in his books, but that was not enough. He made Lizzy cry, then he was rude to her, and now he's lying to her? It climbed up, balancing on the ghoul's head as it bared its teeth at the boil in warning.
Lizzy was still very much unaware of what her Minipet was doing, but she felt it shift and quickly removed him from her head, holding him to her chest using an arm. She placed her chin on his head for a second before looking up at the Reaper again, her other hand still holding onto the jacket.

"Wow, you have a lot of faith in your fellow d---you know what, nevermind." He cut himself off as the minipet began to growl at him, or at least he thought it was a growl. His gaze dropped to the jacket, grudgingly taking it from her and just...tossed it somewhere. He'd get it later, probably.
"I'm sure whoever did it doesn't want or need your gratitude." Mac said with a frown, before grumbling something under his breath that likely neither of them would hear, but it was probably expression that whoever it was owed her one anyway.
Well, since she was holding that growling thing now, he didn't know where to put the runt. It was his buffer! He needed one with her, apparently. Not that he cared, it just made dealing with someone a lot easier when the weren't crying all the time.
"Your pet-thing sounds sick."

"Maybe, but I still wish to express my gratitude regardless," With the jacket out of her hands, she shifted Rosenthal so that he was now being carried in both arms, very much like a stuffed toy would be carried. At his comment, she looked down at Rosenthal before looking back up, "I'm surprised you cared enough - but no, he tends to make odd noises when he's feeling upset."
And he looked pretty upset right now.
"I'll just go now, since you probably don't want me here," She nodded before excusing herself- just as Rosenthal managed to wiggle itself out of her arms and lurched at Mac with a murderous intent, claws out. He headbutted him on the chest before hovering, shaking his head from recoil before flying up and clinging onto the boil's face with its stubby limbs.
"R-Rosenthal!"

"I don't, really." He lied; he did care enough to know that the minipet was upset, he realized now that he was upset because he was protective of Lizzy. That part he did care about, as Lizzy was upset because of him...which meant that this pet was angry at him, and that explained the looks he was getting earlier.
"Bye, then." He murmured, about to shut the door when a pink blurr flew at him, hitting him square in the chest with enough force to knock him back a step or two, the motion enough to make him lose his grip on the kit in his hand.
"BLOODY JACKIN' MARY!" He just barely managed to hold onto the now-awake black and teal runt...at least until the pink thing attacked him again. With a bit of a flail he lost his hold on the poor scareon runt, but luckily managed to toss him in Lizzy's direction.
Both hands free, he grabbed the sides of the attacking pata-pata and tried to pull the thing off of his face, yelling a stream of very unhappy curses along with his attempt.

Lizzy caught the Scareon pup like a boss.
While she would normally have stopped to comment on how adorable the pup was while giving it lots of cuddles to calm its nerves from being tossed, she realized that if she don't pull Rosenthal off Mac soon, the boil might get hurt. Worse still, he might hurt Rosenthal. The thought was enough for her to gently hold the pup using her arm while reaching for the enraged Pata-Pata with her free hand, placing it under his belly and pulling back.
"Let go, Rosenthal. Now." She didn't like this Reaper, but she didn't wish for him to get hurt either! Her tone was firm, and caused the Minipet to freeze and loosen up, wondering if he had done something wrong. Half turning around before letting go, releasing the boil from his grip, Rosenthal hovered in the air in front of the boil with an annoyed look on his face before flying back to his owner, perching on her head.
It continued to stare at Mac the flailing wimp.
"I-I'msosorry, Immaleavenow," Came the distressed apology as she held out the Scareon pup with both hands, head bowed to stare at the floor. Her voice was starting to crack, threatening to cry; this was a bad day! Why did Rosenthal have to attack him?!

The feel of Rosenthal's claws in the sides of his face really didn't help the steady stream of curses that flowed through him; of course, thanks to the minipet they were muffled. Somewhat.
Mac was rubbing the sides of his head with his hands the moment Lizzy made the pink thing let go, glaring darkly at the pet when he could. Oh the things he wanted to do to that thing now, so many things! But at least he wasn't swearing anymore. His glaring was interrupted when the pup was thrust out at him; it looked as confused as he did, only the pup had a single ear flopped down to make the wide-eyed confusion more adorable.
Still, he didn't take the pup from her, instead he took off his hat and rubbed at the red claw marks on the sides of his face.
"Get that jackin' thing declawed!" He growled out at her, pacing in a small space for a moment before stopping in front of her again. "Stop crying!" Mac didn't sound mad, he sounded...tired? Desperate? Almost like he really did want her to stop crying.

"I'msorry, hehadneverattackedanyonebefore," She managed to squeak out before sobbing; of course, he had attacked Calder that one time, but mainly because the Kelpie managed to traumatize her Minipets. Looking up at Mac slowly, she hugged the adorably confused pup to herself, looking rather miserable as she frowned, her gaze lingering on the ground, rather ashamed of how Rosenthal had reacted.
Her sobbing just became worse at the thought of having to declaw Rosenthal, although she was trying her best to stop. When Mac came close enough to bark something at her (she had basically stopped listening by then), she clung onto his arm, leaning her head against it as she closed her eyes.
"Itry."

The runt made adorable little noises once it was over it's confusion, instead playfully gnawing on Lizzy's sleeve with teeth thankfully too small to do real damage to her clothing. It didn't seem to feel how tense the air was, or understand how upset Lizzy was; it was just...playtime!
When Lizzy reached out, the runt took the opportunity to jump out of her arms and to trot back to its siblings and Mama to regale them of the events they were no doubt watching. Mac, on the other hand, didn't notice her reaching out to him (in fact, he was looking in a nearby mirror at the marks, that jackin mini!) until it was too late. She clung to him, and he froze. Just. Froze.
There was a crying ghoul on his arm.
No, wait.
There was a crying Demon on his arm!
His expression flipped form angry to baffled to near disgust and panic, his body tensing in discomfort and he attempted to try and weasle his arm out of her grasp. It didn't work, but he sure did try.
"W-well try harder!" He shot back at her, his lips curled in discomfort. "That jackin' pink thing'll attack me again if you keep this s**t up!"

It was lucky Lizzy was too distracted by how the floor looks and how terrible she felt to notice the different expressions on the Reaper's face, or she might had felt rather insulted. Instead, feeling in need of comfort (not that she was getting much from him) she refused to let go, neglecting any 'he's a boil' and 'he's a jerk' thoughts that might had occurred if not for the fact that she felt pretty miserable.
"I-I-I-" Was all she managed before she started sobbing again, arms tightening around his arm.
Meanwhile, Rosenthal was contemplating attacking again when Lizzy held onto the Reaper and started to cry. That was bad. Very, very bad. This means he could not attack and now he had somehow made his owner upset? Or maybe it was all the boil's fault. His distress was apparent as he moved from her head to her shoulder, tugged at her hair to take her attention, to no avail.
