Orpheus was sitting in the grass of one of the classrooms, reading over the information he had on his student and gave a smile, "Ahh, yes. I remember you." He murmured to himself, he'd had a lot of fun teaching Reese to snag things with that neat tail of his while swimming. Now he would be teasing im another skill as well. He looked over the information that he had on sea horses having printed some things off from his computer to help with deciding what he would be doing next...and it came to him, a class that he'd done before,a fun one at that. Camouflage via changing ones color, how fun would that be to do? He didn't think he would have as wide a range as Talia and Anataela had but he supposed that they would learn together what his color range was.

A note was sent to the boy, when the class would be, what time, and that his dragon was welcome to join them for the class. In fact he always enjoyed having the dragons along since he rather liked to see what the various breeds looked like. His curiosity coming from having a trio of children of his own and learned a bit about dragons from the two that he lived with... it would be even more exciting when they decided what sort Maria got and when she was able to bring it home. Things were sure to be exciting then.

Come the day of the class Orpheus was waiting in the hallway outside of one of the classrooms. He picked the one that was set up like a section of beach and awaited his students arrival so that they could begin.

Reese arrived without adult supervision this time, commanding Wilbur to stay behind in the car while he and Merlin made their way to the classroom. The young boy seemed a bit shocked about the interesting scene when he reached where he'd been told to go, but thanks to the new set of all-terrain wheels...he simply used a little more muscle to get him rolling over to where a familiar man sat.

Well, he started to at least. A quick glance back let Reese know that Merlin had stopped following him. Instead, a fuzzy face peered shyly from around the corner, trilling softly before ducking away again.

"Merlin," Reese called, turning himself around a bit. "Come on, thtop being thilly. I know thith guy, he'th really nice and cool."

Merlin did nothing, made no sounds for a moment. Then when he peeked around again, he made a mad dash to hide behind Reese's chair. Well, as mad a dash as the seal-like hatchling could manage. Mostly it was just a lot of fumbling around, stumbling over his own flippers, and trying to look as small as possible once he was 'safe' again with Reese.

Merlin whistled, sounding whale like, peering around at the strange man with red hair. It was so red, like it was on fire! Shouldn't Reese try to put out the fire? That was dangerous!

Reese took a deep breath and sighed, shaking his head as he looked in his teacher's direction.

"Hi Orpheuth. Thith ths Merlin."

Orpheus pushed away from the wall, giving a little smile as he looked Reese over, "Hey, good afternoon." He greeted him, then looked passed him to the little one that was at first hiding and then rushing forward to hide behind the boy's chair, making him give a little chuckle, "A shy one, huh?" He asked of Reese, finding it to actually be kind of cute.

Looking at the dragon he lifted a hand to wave, "Hey there. You know your a lot different in color then the other Pathor I met." He told the little, fuzzy dragon before smiling, "Merlin, huh? That's a cute name for a dragon." A furry dragon named that, made since the wizard did have a furry beard he thought to himself before he motioned to the classroom, "I hope you don't mind, today's class isn't exactly based on anything involving water though if you would like to swim after its over I have no objection." He told the sea horse boy with a smile.

"Yeah, I don't undershtand him," Reese said, sounding perplexed as he reached to affectionately pet Merlin's head.

Merlin watched the man move, wide-eyed as he came closer...making like he was going to duck away and hide again. Then Reese's hand came down on his head, and it was like a button being pushed. The young dragon nuzzled up into the petting, before giving another look at the teacher. Reese wasn't scared, or worried. The man seemed nice enough...maybe there was no threat after all?

Not to take any chances though, Merlin would simply settle in next to Reese's chair as the pair talked. He was feeling better, for sure...but he wasn't willing to let his guard down entirely just yet.

"Thoundth like a plan. Merlin loveth thwimming just ath much ath I do. What ith today'th lethon, anyway?"

"Did you know that you can change colors at will, Reese?" He asked as he lead the way over to where he had a table set up for them, complete with some crayons. They were mostly various shades of brown, some greens, blues, and grays, "I can't say I know exactly what your color range is so we are going to test it out by having you concentrate on the different crayons I have laid out for you and we will see how it goes." He explained, taking up his seat. The side of the table across from him without a chair so that Reese could roll right up to the table without trouble.

"I've worked on this skill with a chameleon girl as well as a cuttlefish, nod sure if you have as wide a range as those two but it will be fun for us to learn together what your able to do."

Reese froze with the mentioning of "changing colors". For a week or two now, he'd been having issues - mostly at home, when his stress levels were highest - where his skin would just suddenly turn blotchy and gray. At first he'd been so embarrassed, which didn't help at all! It just made the colors darker. He'd been regarding it as something shameful, like wetting the bed or picking your nose. Only Merlin knew, of course, and most of the time the little dragon couldn't do anything but snuggle into the boy and try to comfort his anger and fear.

"You mean...I thupposhed to do that?" he asked, a little hushed as he pulled himself up to the table and looked over the crayons laid out before him. He saw a color, the charcoal gray, that looked exactly like the color he usually turned. He wrinkled his nose, seeing it there.

Merlin, meanwhile, had curled up as close to Reese's chair as his awkward body could manage. He sensed his rider's confusion and fear, and was responding in kind.

Orpheus gave a nod of his head at the question, "Yeah, its a natural way of either protecting yourself by blending in with your environment or a reaction to mood changes, I've seen both in my students." He explained to Reese, giving a smile. It would appear at least as though he must have already been changing colors at least a bit though from the sounds of it the changes might have been involuntary ones on the part of the seahorse boy.

"So have you already experienced it? If so its just a matter of trying to reproduce those changes for me to see, the easiest way I have found is for my students to try to copy various crayons since they come in a wide range of colors just like you students do." It was always nice when the skill he was teaching was one the student was at least aware of, it made things go a lot more smoothly on his end. He just hoped that, even if Reese had changed colors on accident, that they would still be able to reproduce the effect during this class. He supposed they would see soon enough as they tried it out.

He glanced up at Orpheus, weighing his options in his head. On one hand, Reese had worked with this teacher before. He had been fun and interesting, and seemed genuinely trustworthy. On the other hand...there were a lot of adults in Reese's life that had seemed one way or another, before he'd found out that it was all just a big fat stinking lie. It wasn't like he could trust Merlin's input...poor thing was basically afraid of everyone, regardless.

Looking down at the crayon's again, Reese reached out and picked up the one he'd been glaring at. He rolled it towards Orpheus.

"I turn that color when I'm....upthet," he explained. "Blotshy all over, and it geth darker the madder I get."

He didn't realize it, but it was starting to happen even now. His embarrassment growing, there was a patch on his shoulder that was barely starting to gray out, along with some spots on his tail. Merlin, from his hiding spot, meeped quietly as he saw the change starting to occur.

"How do I thtop it from happening?"

Orpheus picked up the crayon that was rolled over to him then glanced over at his student, watching as the boy started to turn that exact color which made him worry a little, "So you're upset now?" He asked in a curious manner as he rolled it back over to him, wondering if it were thinking about changing that color that was upsetting him or perhaps something else far more important just then thinking on his past emotions.

"How to stop it? Its a lot of self control, something that you learn as you grow older. It's not exactly possible for you to completely avoid becoming upset, that is a natural response, as is the color change. But with practice you will be able to not only control the reaction you will be able to change color at will. Something I am sure would make you popular at parties." The last part was added as a little joke in an attempt to help Reese to cheer up a little bit.
