Maia had texted her cousin as the sun was going down telling him to meet on top of a roof of Knightside Elementary school around midnight. She's had the crystal for a little bit of time now and she had been training and allowing it to attune and it was amazing. She was faster and her endurance was better, it was like an energy drink, not that Maia had ever had one.
She sat on top the school adorned in her fuku smiling while she twirled the crystal in her hand. She had scouted the area when she arrived so she doubted they would be disturbed. Patrol could come after the discussion, she did not wish to keep it from her cousin a moment longer. They had enough secrets, their relationship was strained, and Maia wanted to, needed to fix that. She was trying one step at a time, this wasn't about the team, this wasn't about her leaving, this was about family and senshi sticking together.
Maia looked up to the stars and wondered who the next crystal would be attained by.

Just like the previous time, Themis pondered just not showing up. Yes, he was still a little bitter, still a little wounded.
It was slow-going, to say the least.
Sure, he felt better, in some regards, but many things in his life remained tangled, and for now, he was doing little to actually fix them. Through, for one of the first times in his life, he was pondering taking that fabled first step.
Not yet, through.
It was a few minutes after midnight when he finally made it there, using the windowledges to jump his way to the roof.

Maia heard Themis land and turned to him with a smile. "I am glad you could come Themis. I have something very important to show you. You will never believe it." Maia had tried to sound calm, but excitement was seeping into her voice letting it been known that whatever reason she had called him for it was exciting.
Maia waved Themis patting the roof top beside her and grinning slightly.
"I hope you have healed well Themis. I noticed that you we're not present in the last two battle in the dream world, not that I wanted to be. The senshi we're beaten one, but we have trounced the negaverse twice." It was an update for a missing in action cousin plain and simple but that wasn't what she had called him for.
"But that isn't what I need to tell you, show you."

"i've heard about that." Lately, he slept mostly during the day for the express purpose of avoiding Elysion, through he just wasn't gonna admit it.
He wasn't completely healed yet, but... The words he'd said to Bell, they extended to her too. Current strains be damned, she was family. If Maia was there, fighting, shouldn't he at least watch her back ?
Hrn.
Just as he thought this was what she had called him for, she revealed that it wasn't the case. "What is it, then ?" He asked, sitting beside her.

"Thats good to know, but then again you are a Basterd. It is you business to know," she said it with a smile. It was a compliment, no matter their faults the team was good at what they did.
As Themis sat Maia looked down to the clinked fist in her lap, loosing her fingers some, not wanting to cut herself with the crystal. It was meant to make her better, not to harm her. She opened her hand and held it up before Themis. The crystal shone in the dim light and Maia smiled.
"I was in a battling with the flying beast up a Meadowview, together with Chaonis, who saved me from being carried off we took out two of them. When the second one was destroyed it was there, lying in the debris, practically calling out to be. I just reached out and picked it up and it was mine. Chaonis even told me to make sure to keep it safe. A crystal Themis, I have one of the lights."

He kind of bit his lip at the mention of it being his job to know - yes, he tried to, and he reported whatever he found that he thought was important to Europa, but tense as he was, it almost felt like a jab.
What had happened to his calm ? Really.
Before he could dwell on it, however, Maia dropped the bombshell, and blue eyes went wide. "Holy..." This was a good thing ! Any crystal going to any senshi was a good thing, as far as Themis was concerned - it meant one less crystal falling into the Negaverse's hands. No matter his current feelings, they had to remain the enemy in his mind - if only for his own sanity.
Many senshi probably coveted the powers such a small gem held. Themis didn't especially. As long as that crystal was in Maia's hands rather than a lieutenant, it was a victory. "How odd... All the others I know of just popped out of nowhere in big ********>

Maia nodded at the holy comment and placed the crystal in her lap, so it set on her skirt, she was planning to make it a necklace in the morning, but for now she just had to hold it.
"I was shocked to say the least. I could believe it was just there. I even voiced that it was odd, just like you are saying now. I did not have to fight for it. It was like it wanted me to have it. At first Chaonis did not even notice it."
Maia sat back slightly looking up to the stars, "So far all I know about it, is that it has to attune to you and I have been working with it trying to figure out what it does. Other than added strength and speed, even un-henshined, I've got nothing."
Maia sighed lightly looking down at the crystal. "I am determined to figure it out. I think I might just be over looking something."

"Maybe it just needs time ?" The blonde pondered out loud. For all that he could be a source of information, he didn't know much about crystals. No one seemed to know much about them, really. One he knew had gone to the Negaverse, though he had no idea which individual agent. The one from the wrestling ring he had no idea, given that they had all been non-powered. He was pretty certain it had been senshi who had gotten the ones from the battle against Kaguya, though even then it had been so chaotic he couldn't be sure.
The only crystal he was sure about was the one that Maia kept nestled in her palm like a treasure. "It needs to... attune, right ? Maybe it's not completely attuned yet."

Maia looked to her cousin and nodded, "Yes, maybe you are right. I have not had it for very long and we have seen how the crystal can effect others. Namely the wrestler. Maybe I just need to have it for longer, or maybe I need to keep practicing. What I really hope is, that it isn't a life or death thing like most senshi things are."
She leaned forward slightly looking at the crystal once more her face frowned up in frustration. "I am just frustrated you know. I know that the crystal is important and I know having it is a big deal, but no one really knows why or what it does for that matter. It's entirely confusing."

"I wish I could tell you, but..." Yeah, he had no damn clue. Much like he had no damn clue about much of anything lately.
Especially senshi-wise, through his personal life was starting to get ripples from the strain of his double-life. Unfortunately there was little he could do about it, and he just sighed and shook his head. "It's all so confusing."

Maia nodded but look over to Themis for a moment before asking, "you are not just talking about the crystal are you?"
She frowned at her cousin wondering if things had gotten worse sense their talk and really hoping that they hadn't. She really wished her cousin could be happy, but she knew most of the time being a senshi really got in the way of that.
"You okay Themis," she asked softly, all thoughts of the crystal pushed aside. Her cousin was more important. If something was wrong with him she wanted to know, she wanted to help. "You can talk to me, you know that right?"

He wanted to say that he was, that everything was fine and good, but Maia wasn't stupid enough to believe him.
"...No, not really." He finally answered, letting out a sigh. How long had he bottled that in ? "Everything's a mess, and im not sure how to make my way out of it. Maybe there's no way. It just seems that even if I try to make this work, something else will go wrong in it's stead."

Maia nodded and turned listening to her cousin, voicing his stresses. Maia sighed, but admitted, "I want to be normal too. After the coma I did think I could be a senshi, I did not think I could make it work. I was more than happy to go away with my family for the summer, forever."
Maia looked up to the sky," but I found that something good comes of these things. I worry something else will go wrong of course, but I grin and bare it because something else will go right and I have to make it work for my family and friends."
Maia looked very seriously at her cousin, placing her hand on his shoulder, "If I hadn't come back after that I wouldn't know you. We would probably never have met, never have know we were related. There might not be a way, but all the amazing people I have met, all the lives I know we've saved, then I can take all the wrong, the bad, the ugly. So can you."
The last words were stressed. She really meant it, she really knew Themis could make it. "I'm terrible at heart to hearts Themis, but I mean it. You my cousin are one of the strongest, most noble senshi I know and you can and will make a way."
"I hope that made sense," she mumbled to herself.

"...It does." He admitted, though the rest of his thoughts he kept silent. She told how she thought him noble and strong, and he dearly wished he could believe it.
But he couldn't. Maybe one day he would, but right now he couldn't.
He wasn't truly ready to listen to it, and until he was ready to do that, and ready to stop running, there was little that anyone would tell him that could make things better.
Still, for Maia, he made himself smile. She didn't need to have to put up with him like this. "...Can I hold it ?" He asked her, looking at the crystal with open curiosity. He'd seen them for afar, but he'd never came close to holding one.

Maia smiled seeing Themis smile, she wasn't sure how much she helped and really did think she should just gloss it over, but she knew Themis had to make his own path. So did she, and both of them still had a way to go.
Maia grinned when Themis asked if he could hold the crystal and she nodded eagerly, "of course," she said before handing over the crystal. If she trusted anyone to hold it, it was Themis.
After turning the crystal over she looked to the sky again, "do you think we should tell Europa? It a big thing I think and maybe she should know, should see it. If anyone can help solve its mysteries, it is probably her."
