Safi'kidege bounced as she all but danced down the trail, following a track that was little more than a sliver of clear space between the trees and underbrush. Above her a bright yello bird swooped and fluttered, singing in his sweet little voice. Her muse, her companion... and he sang a song that he had just made up this morning, something to make her smile.
A laugh broke from her as she glanced up at Mwimbaji, eyeing him and his flamboyant antics. He was ever a joy to her, but occasionally she did have to wonder at him. He was even more silly than she was sometimes... but that's what tended to happen when one had children. You got older, more mature... things that mattered before didn't so much afterwards.
"If you don't watch where you're going, you're going to hit a tree!" She teased him, laughing again.
"If I die, I die happily at your feet!" He called back, rolling ecstatically through the air.

Bagrat had been traveling along the trail himself, enjoying being out on his own and vaguely wondering if he should see about bringing his little sisters presents. While he was out and allowed to explore, they were home having 'visions' and being recorded by scribes all day, and part of him idly considered that it might be nice to get them something new to look at. On the other hand, he also did have other reasons to be out and about lately.
It might be his distracted thoughts or more interest in the scenery than his direction that led Bagrat out of a side section of the trees that really didn't look like part of the trail. There had once been a detour off the main trail in that section, leading to other places far and wide, but it had been abandoned to the undergrowth and for the most part no one even noticed it. He hadn't even realized the change in pace till he started getting jabbed by plants. This is why he needed to pay more attention, really! Extricating himself from this was going to be a problem.
When the lion DID manage to pull himself out of the brush and back onto some semblence of the path, it was definitely not where he'd been before. For one thing, he was now face to face with a light furred lioness and...a bird? Both of whom seemed very amused with their conversation.
"Oh, hello there." he greeted, standing a bit straighter and doing his best to not make it obvious he'd just made a very dumb mistake in walking.

The yellow lioness started as a newcomer suddenly appeared before them, seeming to materialize from the brush and greenery. For a moment she blinked at him, her coral eyes wide, and stupidly wondered if the trees around them had suddenly come to life. It lasted only a fleeting moment though before she laughed brightly and tilted her head, already settling into flirt mode.
How silly of her... Trees didn't come alive for just anyone and they weren't her muse. Therefore, he was not some plant/lion hybrid... more, a handsome young lion who had stumbled onto her path. That was actually a stroke of luck, as far as Safi was concerned. She hadn't seen anyone in a while now, and stories about how she wandered around in the wilds fast got old when they were all you had to tell.
"Hello, Stranger! We didn't disturb you, did we?" She said as she smiled sweetly, her tufted tail swishing playfully behind her.
"If we did, he was doing something he shouldn't have." Mwimbaji chirped cheekily from behind her, fluttering down to land on his companion's back.

Bagrat held in a small laugh at the bird's comment, shaking his mane a little both in answer to her question and to dislodge a few leaves. Not that one could tell since they were both green. "No, more likely I disturbed you. I took a wrong turn on the trail." he explained, keeping the information as simply as possible to make it not sound as silly as he'd felt when stumbling through the trees. "I really should have been paying more attention to where I was going."
Now that he wasn't surprised or confused, Bagrat had time to take in the lioness's appearance, what with her coat as bright as his and her decorations. Quite a lovely thing, really, and she seemed friendly, if that was one way to put it. Well, wasn't that convenient? He had initially come out to see about a female, hadn't he? His adoptive mother had an empty nest, and young males in the pride were expected to bring home some new blood, after all. Finding someone to charm, or at least practice charming was indeed a great fortune.
"I'm Bagrat, I come from the mountains. And what might your and your companion's names be?" he asked softly, a warm smile on his features.

"I'm Safi'kidege and this is my muse, Mwimbaji." She said as she tilted her head again, studying him to set to memory every detail she could find. He would make a fine story, if things went well. "We're just a pair of bright little birds from the sea, gathering stories of the rest of the world... it's actually rather fortunate we've met you. The forrest doesn't make for very good material."
"Down right boring!" Her companion chirped again, lifting away from her back to circle around the pair of land bound creatures. He eyed them as he flapped, zig zagging back and forth and performing happy little aerial swoops. Safi ignored him, well used to his antics by now.
"Are you very far from your home now, Bagrat? Do you usually travel like this, like we do?"

"I quite understand. At home, the mountains and nearby forests don't make very good stories either." Bagrat agreed, nodding his head and thinking distastefully of the scenery his sisters had to look at day after day. "Not for those who live by them all the time, anyway. I'm sure stories of your home would be quite fascinating."
He chuckled a bit at Mwimbaji's flips. Jenson, the only bird that stuck around back in his home, would be apalled at this. Jenson was a ruffly gull who had flown down from Norway in a storm and was not at all the showy type. "I can see why he's your muse - Mwimbaji, you are much more interesting than any birds I know." Bagrat joked before his attention returned once more to the lovely feline's questions, "I am a good ways away, yes. This is my first time traveling since I was brought to the pride as a young cub. Most adults are supposed to come out from time to time to see about bringing in some new blood, and as a member of the Council, I need to set a good example."

"Oh? Council?" Safi blinked at him, wondering what kind of lion she had stumbled upon. He seemed too young for such a lofty position, but then, she didn't know much about the pride he was from... or him for that matter. Maybe he was some how exceptional and had earned that place. She turned a smile on the bird that flitted around them, turning it into a face to tease him. He always hated it when she did that... said it ruined her good looks. Right on que, he squawked at her, an equally unflattering expression, and swooped at her head. She laughed as she ducked, dancing to the side and closer to the stranger.
"Why don't we walk down the path a ways? Maybe then we'll be able to talk in peace." She teased him and her bird equally, giving Bagrat a flirty little look. "I want to hear about this place you're from... and I can tell you about my home as well." She stepped forward as Mwimbaji brought his flight to a halt on a low branch, a c**k of his head training a vivid little eye on them.
"Oh, I see how it is... you find a handsome male and suddenly I'm obsolete. Well!" He huffed in pretend, fluffing his feathers up till he looked like a ball of fuzz. "I'll just sit here then... all by my lonesome... and sing to myself." He sniffled before breaking out in a warble of song, unable to hide his good spirits.

"Ah yes. My mother is of high rank and I managed to meet a member of the Council to apprentice to because of her. I'm very new to the position." the young lion explained. He decided it was best to leave out that he had fought fang and claw to be allowed on the Council by his grandfather, Joto'Damu, was who kind of an a**. Thankfully, Bagrat had apprenticed under another member who was rather old and looking to retire soon, because he was sick of dealing with Joto and Sadiki's closed-mindedness. That really wasn't something this new female would probably care about - pride politics didn't seem her area of interest.
At her request, Bagrat's smile increased and he bowed some, stepping aside so she could step up by him and take a position on the path she might find most comfortable. "Certainly, that sounds wonderful." he agreed. She seemed interested, at the very least, and that was a positive.
The lion turned a little, chuckling quietly at Mwimbaji's antics. "I'll treat your friend well, I promise." he teased the bird, turning back to Safi with a grin, "Shall we?"

A bright giggle broke from Safi at his gentleman's attitude. It made her wonder at their differences in age... well, it wasn't really important, was it? Not like he was still a child, after all, and she was still young herself.
"This way, good sir. We'll let him pout back there for a bit." The bird himself trilled at that parting comment, falling into a series of falling notes that ran like water through the air. He did have such a sweet voice... it was one of the things she loved about it. "I don't think its a bad thing to be new to something. Everyone is new at some point... its just a matter of how you handle it. I hope you're at least enjoying your new station. I know I'm certainly not cut out for positions like that, where one has influence on important decisions. That would be why I hold such a humble position... all I'm really called on to do is share my stories with the pride." She shrugged as she smiled, walking with light steps. "But then, there isn't much in the way of responsibility in the Kizingo'zaa either... everyone is free to pretty much do as they please, as long as they aren't bothering anyone else."

Bagrat quirked some at her giggles, grinning as he did. "I'm glad I amuse you." the lion joked in a bemused tone. He followed her in step, almost like dancing, along with her.
"Oh I am enjoying it. I'm trying to help make things better for the younger members of the pride." Bagrat explained with a vague flick of his tail. "Anyway, stories are a wonderful part of a life. My brother is a storyteller and artist in our pride. In the Intaba'umbikelzi, everyone has to have a job, it seems. A free pride like that does seem very fun at the very least."
The yellow male flicked his ears a little, "And how long have you been telling stories for your pride? Did you know very quickly that you wanted to do that?"

Safi smiled as they walked, thinking on his words for a moment. "I wasn't born into the pride... I joined it as an adult and when I needed to choose what I was to do, it seemed the only thing I was able to do. I'm a wanderer at heart, but I wanted a pride to return to. Story seekers like me are able to travel as they wish, so it was a natural choice." A soft laugh came from her, the smile never leaving her face. "I've been doing this for a while, but it gets hard to remember for how long... sometimes it feels forever and sometimes like I've barely begun."
She leaned as she walked, letting her shoulder bump against his as she watched him from the corner of her eyes. "Why don't you tell me a story? Something entertaining that I can bring home with me?"

Bagrat nodded, leaning a little into her as well, though not enough to push his full weight on the lioness. Knocking her over would probably be a dumb move at this juncture. "I can understand not being born where you live and wanting to have a home to go back to." he replied with a soft nod. His home was one of the things he was most happy with, after all. It was almost easy to forget at times he hadn't always been with Kizuka - a time when she hadn't been Mommy and life had felt so much more horrible.
The male's eyes flicked to Safi's and a small smile, a new kind of smile, took on his feature.s "I think I can manage that, and maybe something more."
