An expanse of snow lay before Darius, monotonous in all but its height, for it sloped upwards, as if craving the sun. He trotted along its side towards a pack he had heard of, his paws slipping occasionally at first, for he was unaccustomed to trotting about without firm earth beneath him. Thankfully, however, he grew used to it after a moment, spreading his toes so that the slight webbing could act as a sort of snowshoe and testing each step, although he still went at a reasonable pace, and ended up at the borders of Nilfheim's pack looking, for the most part, less like a stumbling pup and more as if he actually had four legs attached.

From his expression, one could guess that this location wasn't the most favorable to him despite his thick coat. It was true he had come here of his own free will, but it was out of loneliness, not desire. He was a pack wolf through and through, but he had been unable to find one suitable to his needs as of yet, and had chosen to wander to the closest pack he could find: Einherjar, if only for some short company. He had heard of it before when he had accidentally encountered the alpha male of the pack, and he knew from what he had heard that this was not a pack he could join, for he loved the forest and was unwilling to commit his life away from it. These conflicting wishes, with one hoping for a pack life, and another urging him to leave the cold, plant-less place, left him standing blankly where he had stopped, at the edges of the pack.

User Image Bright golden eye's reflected the interest she held as she nearly blended with the snow around her. Her red fur areas would be a dead spot out, but she wasn't too concerned as she lightly padded over the thick drifts of snow. The black wolf just at the pack boundary line held her full attention as she headed in his direction, cautious yet confidently. This was her home after all not this strangers, he was on her packs territory.

She had been hunting a snow hare quite efficiently when his dark coat caught her attention, Sense she was the only one she could scent in the area she felt it her job to go and see what this outsider was up too. Her gaze was sharp as she took in the tendrils of green that mixed with all the blackness that was his fur. He seemed uncomfortable, but other then that, like he knew what he was doing. "Hello..." she said in a lightly pleasant tone as she slowed to a stop a few paces above him on the hilled land they both tread.

Darius recollected himself when a moving red spot could be seen from a distance, and he worried that he would be mistaken for an intruder. He nosed at the ground beneath and assured himself that, although he was close to the borders, he had not actually trespassed, and held himself where he was, awaiting the wolf's approach. Although a meeting with a pack member of the mountains was not high on his list of preferences, especially with his uncertainty, he was not about to seem the part of a guilty pup caught red-pawed and flee.

He met her sharp gaze when she was close, but it was neither challenging nor aggressive, and he lowered it when she was near, for he knew that he was close to her lands and here, where she had a pack to back her and he did not, it was she who deserved more respect. He expected a rebuttal, but her fur remained calm and flat, and he found the contrast between the female's voice and her eyes surprising. The tone was almost friendly, and a slight wag of his tail showed he was hopeful that this would not end with him being chased away.

"Hello," he returned, his voice guarded, but just as amiable.

Kamea gave a gentle wolfish grin, her own tail giving a wag as the wary male spoke. He didn't smell of threat, so she didn't try to scare him off, never one to chase off a potential friend after all, not to mention he had shown appropriate respect. Her attention was once again directed to his green bits of fur, the unique pattern intriguing, mixed with his light light eyes. he was very interesting already! " Not much for speaking?" she gave a soft laugh before speaking again. "Welcome to Einherjar, home of the mountain wolves, What brings you out so far?" she was usually far more shy, but with her still inside pack boundaries she felt far more comfortable and it showed in how relaxed her posture became.

Darius returned the female's smile, feeling more at ease than he usually was after the relief he felt at not being met with hostility. Of course, it was not bound to last, and his smile wouldn't be so quick to come the next time, but for now it stayed where it was, deferring greatly from the green beast on his side that she now inspected.

"Not much," he replied simply, a light chuckle following soon after. And then, continuing, "Thank you. I am afraid it's lack of company that drives me here, but... I do not mean to stay."

He was not afraid to admit that he suffered from a bout of loneliness; it was normal, after all, for a wolf of his mindset to desire a pack, and it would have been unnatural should he say he did not enjoy the presence of others. Still, the latter he was uncertain of mentioning, for it seemed strange for a wolf to visit a pack he did not intend on joining, but in the end, he had decided to, for it would have been unfair had he not. He only hoped it wouldn't change the way he was being received, and waited to see what the female would do.

Kamea: her tail stopped wagging as a flash of memories hit her, she remembered all to well what it was like... though she was never completely alone, her sister was always with her. It was still different for one who was meant for pack life to be without one. Realizing that her impression probably wasn't the best she picked back up the tail wag. returning the smile. " Then you can join me if you like? I never mind company, and I'm just catching a few snacks... the Snow hare have a den around here so they are everywhere." He seemed like a wolf who had seen to much rejection where one should not. And her heart went out to him as she tried to cox him to enjoy a bit of companionship, even if just for a while. Nifl wouldn't mind... not if they stayed right on the outskirts.

Darius felt the first inflections of uncertainty when the momentum of the female's tail slowed, and then stilled. Not one to bring trouble if it could be helped, he tensed, ready to step away and seek company elsewhere until he saw it pick up its pace again, and heard the female speak. His ears pricked forward, but not so much so that it would appear as if he were subtly trying to assert any form of dominance, and hope filled him once more, although the doubt stayed.

"Are you sure?" he asked, taking not one step towards or away from the female and the offer she held before him. "Won't your alpha mind the company of a stranger on his lands?"

Kamea let a small laugh leave her as she gave a wolfs equivalent of a smile. "Oh no. not if we stay on the outskirts I don't see why he'd be bothered... Nifl isn't a cruel alpha. He's kind, brave, strong... well you get the idea. He's a good alpha." At that she continued on her path, expecting this new unexpected friend to follow.
As if on impulse she turned a bit to face him while still walking. her voice filled with delight at having company. "I'm Kamea by the way... Kamea Shi..."

Darius smiled amiably at that, as he recalled the time he had first met the pack's alpha. The large male had been kind, even to the irritable female who loudly proclaimed her hate of males, and he was glad that hadn't changed between the time they had first seen one another to the present.

"I think I shall come, then," he said quietly, but the female had already turned. He followed willingly, looking around and with a more curious eye. It was far colder here than he was used to, but his fur had always been longer than the forest-breed of his kind, and he took in the new temperature more with surprise than discomfort.

"Darius," he replied, slowing to give a sweeping, playful bow, a small smile on his own lips. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
