It was quiet. That peaceful calm quiet of the dead of night. A time when most creatures were probably sleeping around the school. Which she would have been doing too, but sleep just wasn't coming to her. For the last hour the she-wolf had just been laying among her endless pile of pillows, head nestled against her hazmutt. Her faithful minipet was always snuggled with her at night. He was both a comfort and a convenient pillow. Not that she needed the extra comfort normally. Her best friends did that. All three of them. Just not tonight. She wasn't sure if they were all in their own rooms, or mixed and matched in some fashion. All she knew was that tonight (at least so far) was one of those rare nights she didn't have any of them in her room. Or that she wasn't sleeping in one of theirs. Something that surprised her a little, considering they were all a little over protective right now.

Alright, it was her own fault, really. LW had told them she needed one night to herself. Which hadn't gone over well, but they understood. For the most part. Not that they were all that pleased about this. But ever since having been ambushed gotten the surprise visit by a very jealous ghost ghoul, she hadn't had a real moment to herself. LW couldn't really blame them however. They just cared very much for her. And yes, she did desperately crave that comfort they brought. But she just couldn't seem to take that extra step to venture to one of their rooms. Not yet.

Her mind was a troubled place and it was making her restless. Causing her to have trouble sleeping. She had hoped being alone would help, but no. It made it worse. Two very big things would not give her a break. The first was still quite fresh on her mind. And that was what the ghost ghoul had said during their 'encounter'. Her words had struck at those inner feelings the she-wolf had about herself. It was like taking salt to an open wound. LW knew she wasn't the best of werewolves and had heard similar words spoken to her over the years. Yes she was smaller than other wolves. Yes she was a very happy and easy going wolf. Yes this was a sore spot to some of her family. Mainly the females. LW had worked hard to make a place among her brothers. She felt more at ease with them and even though they still teased her about being a little werewolf, it was just that. Teasing. Not the spiteful way her sister and mother said it. The she-wolf had long since learned to hide the way the females of her family made her feel. If she showed any signs of hurt, they just walked all over her. Which was part of why she wanted this night to herself, so she could let those feelings out.

And then there was the second issue on her mind. This one equally hard to overcome yet not quite the same. Where the first one was personal and an obstacle in her own mind, the second had to do with a person. A very specific person and his thoughts. Especially where they regarded the words 'friends' and 'family'. The two words just didn't belong together in a sentence, according to her bestie. She hadn't understood this before. However, LW had gotten a the chance to see the family side of things Ren tried to hide. How they treated him. What they thought of him. And his father...LW would not forget that gryphon. Nor would she allow herself to fear him. The she-wolf had been pretty shocked by it all but a lot of things fell into place and gave her a better understanding about the gryphon.

LW sighed heavily and sat up, giving her hazmutt a light pat to wake him. He didn't want to move, but she poked at him until he grumbled at her and sat up. Giving him a small smile, she leaned in and rubbed her nose against the side of his face just below his ear, where the gas mask ended and his fur began. "Let's take a run." Austin knew the word 'run' and was up with his tail wagging pretty quickly.

It didn't take her long to get outside and once out there she shivered. Not wasting any time, LW shifted forms and took off with her faithful minipet towards an area of the school grounds she frequented. It was towards the edge of the grounds (no not where Ren's garden was) and always had a ghostly wind blowing lightly. Perfect for what she usually did out here.

She couldn't ever seem to formulate how she felt into the right words. For herself or any of her friends. LW was not used to sharing such deep feelings with another, since she'd had to hide them for so long. Yet out here...with the world of Halloween deeply submerged in the skirts of midnight, the she-wolf was able to get her feelings out in another way.

Breathing in the cool air, she let her head fall back and a soft yet strong howl vibrated up out of her small frame. It was a beautiful sound to hear. Hypnotic and alluring. One could find themselves just stopping to listen. And as they listened, they might find themselves feeling a deep sadness in such a lovely sound.

LW howled, letting her voice sing out into the night. Singing to the moon that she knew was always there to listen. Telling Her of the hurt she felt from those deep down feelings. How her heart ached not knowing how to help her best friend see that the 'family' he craved was there right in front of him. That they would all always be there for one another. The she-wolf howled until her song became nothing more then a soft whine.

Even after the wind had carried off her song, LW sat there, just staring up at the night sky, hazmutt curled up next to her. Like usual, it didn't respond back. Didn't give her any insights to the turmoil in her mind. But it was there to listen. To allow her the chance to get the feelings out.

One day. She thought. I won't need to sing in the night like this. She'd be able to speak of her feelings in words to the three that were there to listen as well. But that would come with time. At least, that was what she believed. For now, she would just sing her heart to the moon.
