It had been weeks…Maybe even months since the dreaded fight with the lion known as Nafasi. Suoh had lucked out, just when the white male had gone for the kill, the lion was distracted by the little maned wolf that led him away from the scene. There, Suoh remembered the lioness with blue eyes watching him, motivating him, hurting him to get moving. She had mentioned the male would be back if they hadn’t hurried, but a few moments after that he remembered nothing. Occasionally when he would wake from a fevered sleep, spot the masked female’s blue eyes and immediately think of Otea. However, the lioness would just shake her head at the male’s fading vision into blackness.
Now the male had known that the female who had rescued him wasn’t Otea, but rather her name was Weusi. She would catch him meals (and give him attitude about it as well,) telling him he needed to hurry up and get better; that this “caring lioness” business was not her style.
Today was the day that the male would actually be able to move more than just a little few steps without hurting. His wounds had finally healed, leaving scars etched across his entire body. The light pink markings certainly stood out from the dark charcoal pelt. Suoh sighed. What would his family think of him now? Going off on his own to look for his cousin, then getting into this mess with a lion he thought was helping him. At least Weusi was there to help him. Well, her and the maned wolf that distracting Nafasi during the attack.
Speaking of the pair, where were they? Suoh’s brown eyes searched around, looking for any indications of the female or familiar. He frowned, but knew she would be back.
Just as if on cue, the orange striped male wolf barged appeared from behind the rock Suoh had been lying against. “You’re up.” He said gruffily, disappearing once more.
Suoh was just about to respond when the maned wolf disappeared, only to reappear after a few moments with Weusi. She carried a dead rabbit in her maw. When she dropped it at Suoh’s feet, the charcoal lion just stared at it. “I…I’m not hungry, thank you,” he said softly, sitting down as he stared at the mangled bunny.
“I don’t care, eat.” Weusi replied, watching the charcoal lion closely. Amaruk sat next to his master, watching.
“Really…I’m n---“
“Eat.” The lioness growled, causing the maned wolf to do so as well.
The lion almost jumped at the growl. He looked at the two creatures that saved his life, before sighing. Just a few bites and she would be happy. He crouched low to the kill, licking the stained fur until he finally took a little nibble out of the flesh. He resisted a gag. He really wasn’t hungry.
“He looks like he is going to be sick, Weu.” Ama remarked quietly from the lioness’s side, eyeing the male’s small bites.
“He does, doesn’t he. Oh well, he needs to learn that any type of kill out here should be treasured. That will be step one in his training.”

“You think he is ready for it?” The maned wolf asked, peeking up at Weusi.
The lioness shrugged. “If he is going to survive out here, he will need to be. I don’t think he will be returning to the Pridelands with those scars on his body.” The white female had heard the lion mumble Pridelands over and over in his dreams. “And even if he does want to return, he’ll need to know how to protect himself, and not be friendly to every lion he meets out here. Seems like these ‘Pridelands’ make gushygushy lions.” The lioness scoffed. “Pathetic.”
“Can I stop now?” Suoh asked as if he was a kid again. The rabbit that lay by his feet was barely touched, but one could see small bites out of it. “I don’t think I can eat anymore…” he whined, pushing the rabbit away.
Weusi snorted as Amaruk rolled his eyes, heading towards the lion as he picked up the carcass. “Your loss.” With the dead rabbit in his maw, he moved back towards Weusi. She would certainly enjoy the meal later, and he would pick on whatever scraps she left him. The striped wolf dropped the carcass down in a shady area, keeping an eye out for any scavengers that may try to steal his future lunch.

“You should learn to eat every bit of food that is offered out here. You will soon learn not everything will be handed to you on a silver platter out here.” The lioness stated. She didn’t know how the lions in the pride he came from acted, but things were definitely different here.
A frown graced Suoh’s maw, as he shook his head. “I don’t plan on…staying out….here.” He slowly roses to his feet, wanting to turn in the direction of home and leave. He just…didn’t know where home was.
“Then leave, if you don’t want to stay here. Don’t just stand there. Go.”
Charcoal ears flattened against his skull. “I can’t. I don’t know where to go.”
“Not my problem,” Weusi said, getting up to walk away. Amaruk was right on her tail.
“You just gonna leave him?” The wolf asked in a whisper, trailing Weusi.
The black masked lion didn’t answer, but smirked when she heard the charcoal lion behind her call out to stop. She turned her attention back to the male. “I am not going to help you find your precious little home,” her blue eyes narrowed into a glare. “So just get over it.” She would start to walk away again when Suoh began to inch after her.
“I’ll stay then, just…tell me what you want?” Suoh grumbled, his eyes turned towards the ground. All he wanted to do was go home, and frankly, this lioness was his only “companion” right now. She hadn’t killed him yet, why should he have reason to not trust her?
“I want you to stop being a whiny cat, and I want you to know that you are capable of defending yourself, even if you make it back to your precious pride.”
“Gee, Weusi, I didn’t know you cared so much about this kid,” the maned wolf snorted under his breath, causing a glare towards him from the lioness. “Sorry.”
“I can defend myself.”
“Yeah, so shows the fight your had with that white lion.”
“That’s different.”
“It’s not!” she growled. “If you live out here, or even travel out here, you are encounter those personalities on a daily basis,” she began. “Not to mention if you happen to wander into another’s territory? You can cause yourself a lot of trouble.”
Suoh was silent. He sighed, lying on the ground as he watched the lioness retreat again. “Fine,” he growled, just tired of arguing with the female. “Teach me.”
Weusi stopped and looked over her shoulder towards the lion. “Get Rest.
“We will start your training when the moon rises.”
