'Concussion' was a really funny word. For one thing, it sounded like percussion and made Lucas think of drums, which was somewhat ironic because he couldn't stand the sound of drums at the moment. Or at least he was pretty sure he couldn't stand it. It wasn't very often that he was anywhere near drums, so there wasn't any definite way to test the theory, but the subtle thrumming in his head was enough to let him know that actual physical drumbeats would just be horrible.

For another thing, the word 'concussion' contained the smaller word 'cuss,' which never failed to make Lucas feel like laughing when he thought about the raid as a whole, his impression of which was by and large limited to the word "s**t." Not that he would actually laugh, since it took too much effort, but the thought was there and possibly gave him a slight grin from time to time.

Yet another thing about the word 'concussion' was how easy it was to mix up with the word 'cushion.' Lucas had a cushion in his room, as a part of the little chair at his desk that he was using more and more often. It was black and devoid of any pattern or other intrigue, much to his disappointment. The texture was sort of interesting, though, if he looked close enough. All those little overlapping threads--

Oh, who was he kidding. Lucas was bored out of his mind, and the more he became aware of this, the more one would have had to pay him to stay in that bed. When Alba left for his trainee duties, Lucas very subtly and stealthily recalled Merry into her pokeball - meaning he fought with her for a good half hour before finally getting her into the thing - and left the room, heading into the hallway and starting off in a random direction and thankful to find that he could walk with little difficulty. He didn't care where he was heading. It wasn't his bed or his room, so it was automatically the most interesting thing in the world.

Whether Alba was there or not, ever since Lucas got his concussion Claire had made it her responsibility to visit him quite frequently - and by quite frequently that meant every few hours when she wasn't working, and possibly on her break when she was - to make sure he was alright and was improving (or at least not getting worse) and to bring him food and the like. So, perhaps five minutes after the occupant had left his bedroom, she arrived and offered a short knock before entering regardless of an answer or not.

And nearly dropped the plate of cookies she'd brought when she saw his bed empty and Merry gone. With an exasperated sigh she set the plate on the desk and looked around quickly. No one in the bathroom, so he definitely wasn't there... Where the hell had he gone? And where was Merry? Did he take her pokeball with him or did he leave it, or..? What the hell was he thinking?! Ugh...

Disoriented as he was, Lucas had had the foresight to put a lock on Merry's pokeball to prevent her from immediately following him and possibly disabling him with Hypnosis or something. The locked pokeball wriggled where it had been left on a table, slipping off the edge of the surface and rolling onto the floor.

The wiggling pokeball didn't escape her notice, so with a small sigh she leaned down to pick it up. She studied it for a moment or two before pressing the release button in the center, hoping that this would indeed be Merry's pokeball and not one of his others. It wasn't as though she didn't like them, because she did, it was just that Merry was by far the most helpful in this situation, especially because of her behavior toward Lucas.

A flash of light from the pokeball was followed shortly by pure, unadulterated Chimecho rage, a blast of Confusion whipping around most of the room's loose items, including (but not limited to) the majority of the paper notes on the walls. A terrible hum pulsed out of the little psychic type, replacing her normal jingles.

Merry wasn't feeling so merry.

The sudden attack that encompassed the entire room made her stumble back a few steps, and her arms flew up to instinctively protect her head and face. "Merry!" She said, lowering her hands and minimizing the pokeball the Chimecho had just emerged from. "Merry, calm down! Arceus.. Where's Lucas?" Wait, she'd have no idea. Crap.

With a sigh, Claire pinched the bridge of her nose, the hand holding the pokeball leaning against her hip. "Nevermind. Look," she said, lowering her empty hand and raising the one with the ball, "I'm keeping this so he can't do that again, okay?" That said, the ball was slipped into her pocket. Arceus, Merry needed to calm the eff down. She couldn't blame the poor pokemon, she was frustrated and worried too, but... Arceus. Oh well, no time to waste being frustrated by this. "Come on, let's go look for him." With that, she turned and opened the door so they could try and find the concussed man.

Lucas was in so much trouble.

"Chom..." Merry's ringing was a low, sinister rumble. She nodded slowly at Claire's words, darting out into the hall as soon as the door was open and swiftly glancing left and right. She made her decision and proceeded with her long tail fluttering behind her. In all honesty, she was more worried than angry, but that man was in for the Hypnosis of his life once she found him.

Elsewhere in the base, 'that man' had stopped in front of a window, staring through the glass and wavering slightly on his feet. It was raining. That was... pretty cool, actually. It was kind of amazing how water just fell from the sky like that...

The door closed behind them with a click and before Claire could blink Merry was gone, off in some direction. With a soft sigh the young woman followed the worried Chimecho, wondering where the hell Lucas could've wandered off to... And what the hell was he thinking?! Seriously? ...probably nothing very coherent actually, now that she thought about it... What did severely concussed people think about?

Merry's ribbon tail served as the only beacon indicating where she was as she moved through the base, deftly navigating the labyrinthine halls. When she had last lost him, she was unfamiliar with the place, and a rogue Chingling had facilitated her reunion with her human. Now she was quite familiar with the nuances of the corridors, possessing a vast mental map as well as knowledge of the places Lucas typically wound up. Thus far he wasn't at any of his usual haunts, but she was quite determined. The Chimecho rounded a corner and came to a halt, overwhelmed with relief to see her human in one piece.

Lucas, however, was completely unaware of Merry's presence towards the end of the hall. Inadvertently he had wandered to the out-of-the-way hall where he had met Claire, palm resting against the cool glass of the window as he absently watched the rain fall. Something about the constant motion made it immensely and incomparably interesting...

She followed the determined Chimecho as quickly as she could, eager to find Lucas as well but Merry was going awfully fast.. Oh well, the most important thing was to find him as soon as possibl-- There he was... Finally.

"Lucas," she said as she quickly jogged over to him, quickly scanning him for any further signs of injury without even really realizing it. "What are you doing over here? You should be in bed."

Lucas heard his name on a familiar voice and turned quickly to face the source. He perhaps moved a bit too quickly, though, and a rushing sound filled his head. In response to Claire's admonishment, he found himself a bed on the floor.

Before he could reply he was on the floor, and Claire suddenly found herself kneeling on the floor next to him anxiously to see if he was alright. "Lucas?" He hadn't hurt his head even more, had he? Arceus, the concussion he got on the raid was bad enough. She didn't need him wandering around, passing out in the middle of hallways and giving himself a second one. With a sigh she carefully tried to pull him up to a sitting position and lean him against the wall. Arceus, why was he so heavy..?! "Merry, a little help?"

She didn't need to be told twice. Merry was almost instantly at her human's side, her tail wrapped around his arm to assist in Claire's endeavors to right him. Their combined efforts were successful, though the man remained steadfastly unconscious, a very slight paleness creeping into his face.

There, now he was sitting up at least. She pursed his lips as she noticed his face - was it normally light like that, or..? Arceus, why the hell did he have to go and get himself hit on the head. "Lucas?" She repeated with a sigh, reaching up one hand to gently tap it against his cheek a couple of times in an attempt to wake him up. "Wake up.." It wasn't too bad getting him back to his room when he was awake and could walk, but unconscious? No way. He was certainly strong enough to carry her, like when she got drunk, but there was absolutely no way for her to do anything similar. Not unless wheels were involved, of which they had none. Crap..

The touch elicited a momentary furrowing of his brows in reflex. When he made no further response, Merry, perched on his shoulder, produced a soft chiming. Eyes opened only barely, blinking intermittently and falling to a half-lidded position that stared absently at the opposite wall.
