During the Scarentine party, while they had arranged to meet in the cafeteria, they didn't really spend that much time together. It did make her happy to know that Sepheran had kept Tess occupied, but Scarentine was about friends too and she regretted not having as much time to spend with her friend and fellow band member.
Thus, when they had arranged to meet in her room - her room! - she was so excited about having Tess over that she actually cleaned up the night her friend was set to come. Having cleared out her desk, dressing table as well as floor, Lizzy felt rather pleased with herself and had treated herself to a nice, warm shower an hour before they were set to meet. While she would usually have made use of the full one hour in the shower, she didn't want to risk receiving a guest while she was still in the shower and had rushed herself.
However, after she was done drying her hair and dressing herself, she still found herself with some time on her hands. Not quite sure what to do with herself, the Demoness decided to grab her DS off her bedside table. Lying down on her stomach on her bed, she turned the handheld on for a quick game of Pokeman to kill some time.

Maritess had been on Fog 6 ever since the Scarentine party. The evening had gone too quickly. Much too quickly for the winged vampire's taste, mostly because of the company she kept that evening. The basilisk boil had been her first actual, honest-to-Jack date and it had gone better than she had ever expected. And she owed it all to Lizzy! Whom she wished she could have spent more time with at the party, along with her other friends.
So when the spider demoness invited her over to the demon dorms for some ghoul-time, Tess practically leapt at the chance! She was curious to find out what sort of date Jericho had been, plus she always enjoyed spending time with Lizzy. Wild gnomes wouldn't keep her away! Of course, she couldn't help but feel nervous. She'd been to the demon dorms before, the first time was when she had to work with Alcie for their Sex-Ed project, and a second time to retrieve Trixie. Nevertheless, it didn't make her familiar with the place and she didn't want to do anything that could possible embarrass Lizzy. Because of this, she ended up changing her blouse at least three more times than necessary, explaining her tardiness.
Large, leather wings carried her soundlessly past the entrance and toward her friend's room. Fixing her hair and smoothing out her blouse she knocked, "Lizzy?"

While she was distracted by the DS in her hand, she did hear the knock on her door and immediately smiled, looking up from the screen as she rolled off the bed, landing on the ground feet first. Without turning off the DS, she closed the cover and placed it on her bed. Standing up quickly, she smoothed out the creases on her dress before making her way to the door, flinging it open. Beaming at her friend, she pulled her in for a quick greeting hug.
"Tess! Hiii! I'm glad you could make it!" She released the ghoul from her hug and leaned back, grabbing her hand and leading her into her room, "Welcome to my room!" Once she was in, Lizzy released her hand and gestured towards her bed as she closed the door, seeing how it was the most comfortable thing in the room aside from the couch in another room, set aside for the skelevision.

Maritess returned the hug, glad that Lizzy wasn't miffed at her. "Sorry if I kept you waiting," she apologized, crimson eyes taking in the interior of the spider demoness' room. She wasn't surprised that Lizzy's room was as stylish as it was neat, but she was completely unaware of the impromptu cleaning session. "Your room is lovely, Lizzy," she complimented, meaning every word she said. When the demoness gestured towards the bed, Tess seemed uncertain for a moment before making her way towards the piece of furniture.
She hovered above the surface, her long hair draped on the bed while her wings kept the rest of her aloft. The winged vampire didn't think it would be proper of her to just flop down on her back or stomach. As comfortable as it may have been if her memory served her right. "Maybe you can help me pick out some new decorations for my room," she grinned. It was then she noticed the device her friend was holding in her other hand. "What's that?" She asked with a cant of her head.

"Aw, its no problem! I kept myself busy!" She giggled, and was about to hold up the handheld in her hand when she blushed faintly at the compliment, really glad that she made the effort to clean it up, "Thank you! Its not always this tidy though..." She admitted with a soft chuckle as she sat on the edge of her bed beside Tess. Noticing the ghoul's hesitance, she tilted her head with a thoughtful look before she grinned, patting the bed, "I'll be honored to help! Although you know, I think it'll be more comfortable if we spawl on it." Pulling her legs up onto the bed, she laid down on her tummy, holding the DS up in front of her before geturing for Tess to join her, "Make yourself comfortable~ Oh, this is a Skintendo DS! I recently bought it, a few days before the Scarentine party!" She nodded, flipping the cover open to reveal the game she had been playing while waiting for her to arrive, "I only bought a game though... But its really fun!"

It had been some time since Tess last laid down on a bed. Usually she hung from the ceiling or hooked her wings on her chair's backrest whenever she was in her room. She didn't have anything to sit with it's rather hard to lean back against her bed's headrest with her wings in the way. But at Lizzy's invitation, well, who was Tess to refuse? She followed suit, moving her hair aside as she lowering herself onto her elbows. With her weight pressed down on her arms, her wings tucked behind her as she adjusted her torso so that her spine was still straight, more because she wanted to be parallel to Lizzy and less because of her mother's lectures on posture.
"Why'd you go and do that?" Tess blinked, "I-I mean, not that buying or having one of those is bad but I didn't think you were into stuff that's usually for boils. Not that there's anything wrong with that either but, oh Jack, I'm talking too much, aren't I?" Tess' cheeks were making a very convincing impression of an embarrassed (and not in the good way) blush. "S-sorry, my mother sort of placed a ban on those kinds of games in our house. Says it's only for boils and it's not something a proper manananggal ghoul should have so I really wouldn't know if it is just for boils," she sighed, making a face at her mother's strict rules.

Lizzy wiggled closer to Tess, pushing the DS closer to the other ghoul with a hand while her other arm was tucked under her chest to prop herself up, wishing for her to look at the screen a little better. Her character was just standing there, but she was in a patch of tall grass, having been hunting for more Pokeman just as Tess arrived.
She giggled at her friend and shrugged at the initial question, "Well, I'm not sure... I mean, I've always been fascinated with video games, in a way. I just got a little push to get it from Jericho." Her face reddened slightly at the mention of the dragon, but she hoped Tess would not notice, "I ran into him some time before the party at a video game shop in the maul. I think he's really into video games..."
Her eyes widened slightly as Tess continued to speak, blinking when she was done; a frown tugged at the edges of her lips as she looked at the screen of the DS before turning back to the ghoul again.
"Really? I mean... My mother didn't allow them in the house either," She nodded, shifting a little as she tapped her chin with the arm under her body, "She said that it was a bad influence or something... I've only played video games a few times in the past, when I was over at a friend's house - she's a ghoul though! So I don't think its only for boils!"

Tess squinted at the device, not because she had poor eyesight, but it was the sort of squint one made when confronted with something unfamiliar. As if distorting one's vision would somehow make the source come into focus, when really the problem was in the lack of comprehension on the subject matter. She didn't know what game this was, even if she might have heard about it in passing it was unlikely the undead ghoul would even know what it was about. "So this is you?" she asked, pointing to the character standing in a bunch of tall stripes, not realizing it was meant to be grass.
Of course, with her eyes squinting at the handheld console, she missed the faint tinge of red in Lizzy's cheeks. However, her ears picked up the name of the dragon boil just fine and Tess' lips pulled into a grin. "Really? So he nudged you into getting one of these? He must be very persuasive," she giggled light-heartedly, "But I'm glad he was a good date for you."
When the spider demoness began to speak about her mother and the matron's own rules banning videogames, Tess couldn't help but feel glad that Lizzy could understand the frustration. "I don't remember seeing any of the ghouls in my old school with one. Just the boils," she titled her head in thought. "What kind of games did you and your friend play?" Tess was genuinely curious, partly because it was new to her and partly because of the giddy thrill of rebellion against her mother. Just talking about it made the undead feel so daring! Oh Tess, you really need to un-live more.

"Yes it is!" She nodded, placing the DS down to rest on her bed as she pushes the cover up a little, to allow both of them to look at the screen. Then, she moved her hand to the left of the handheld, where the D-Pad was, "You control which way the character moves by pressing on the arrows... For example, if I want to move up, I just do this." She pressed down gently on the up arrow, causing her character to move North - a few steps later, the screen started to blink as the music changed.
"Oh! Uh, I was in the 'grass' just now, so things can attack you inside," She nodded as the screen stopped blinking, being replaced by the sprite of a Pokeman before entering the battle screen, "You can choose to attack, use an item, switch your current Pokeman - that's the human you own and what the game revolves around - to another Pokeman in your group or flee from the battle. I usually attack..." She selected the 'attack' button, which led to a screen showing the attacks.
"Its actually a good beginner game!" Smiling, she selected one of the attacks before turning to Tess, "I managed to get the hang of it after playing with it for a day."
She blushed again at Tess' words, "O-oh, well, it didn't take a lot of persuasion, really! Like I said, I was interested in them, so..." She paused, giggling softly as she smiled, her blush darkening slightly, "He was an interesting date! I mean, I don't know many boils, but he's definitely interesting! We actually brought our DS to the party with the intention of trading Pokeman - yes, you can trade them with friends! - but ended up in the dance contest instead for some reason."
Looking at her friend, her grin grew as she leaned in towards her, "So, how did your date with Sepheran go? I hope I made the right choice!"
At the question, she went silent, trying to recall what she had played before, "Hm... I can't remember, but it was a 2-player game where my friend and I had to knock each other out using JOY-ful looking things? The graphics were quite good, actually. Oh! We also played a racing game! I think Jericho said that the name of the game system at my friend's place was probably the Scarestation 3."

Tess watched in fascination as Lizzy demonstrated how the controls functioned and what one did during a particular event. The undead ghoul couldn't help but let out squeaks of surprise each time the screen changed, as if she thought she did something that broke the game. Even if she didn't even touch it. Despite the initial impression she had that videogames were only for boils and that they were too complicated for her to get, the spider demoness was proving her otherwise. Not to mention making her want to take a crack at it herself.
"Can I try a round?" she asked, biting her lower lip hesitantly then quickly adding, "A-after yours I mean." Tess didn't know Pokeman didn't technically have the sort of "round" she was referring to but forgive her ignorance, won't you, Lizzy? The moment Lizzy began to talk about trading Pokeman, the manananggal's brows knitted in confusion but decided against asking and pretended she understood that term. She felt like she'd bothered Lizzy enough from her game as it was.
However, the subject of Jericho was a different matter. "Interesting like how?" She asked, a mischievous twinkle in her eye especially once she spotted the blush on her friend's face. And since turnabout is only fair play, when Lizzy posed her question at Tess, the manananggal's own face followed suit. "I had the best time!" Tess squealed, "He was such a gentleman and so attentive and he made me feel so special that night." All Tess needed was a background of a moonlight sky with wilted rose petals flowing in the wind to complete the overly dramatic picture she was painting of the evening. "Thank you so much, Lizzy!" Unable to help herself, she hugged her friend happily.

"Of course! I would have offered even if you didn't ask," She giggled as she finished the battle, the screen switching back to the screen with the character standing in the grass. Nudging the handheld towards Tess before turning her body so that she was resting more on her side than on her tummy, Lizzy nodded, "Just walk around on the grass and wait for something to attack! I'm sure you'll get the hang of it soon enough!"
"Well, interesting as in... Unpredictable at times?" Her blush deepened somewhat as she brushed her bangs back in an attempt to hide her embarrassment; she wasn't even sure why she felt embarrassed talking about it, "He's not exactly a gentleman or what I would define as a good date, but he was nice to talk to!" In fact, it was the talk they had after the party that Lizzy remembered the most vividly.
If Lizzy knew what was going on it her friend's mind, she would have been so proud of Tess' romantic imagery. Sadly, she didn't. However, she was still delighted at what she was hearing, "Really? That's great! Aw, I'm so glad Sepheran was a good date!" She returned the hug immediately, unable to stop herself from grinning.

Tess was still smiling wide even when they'd finished the hug. "He was. He really was!" She nodded enthusiastically. "What do you think I should do to thank him? It felt like it had been all about me and that's not very proper," she chided herself.
When Lizzy handed her the console, Tess held the device uncertainly, staring at the screens and trying to remember what Lizzy had shown her earlier. "This makes you move, right?" She clarified, pushing the D-pad the way the spider demoness had. Once more, at the topic of Jericho she glanced to Lizzy, "Well, as long as he wasn't mean to you or anything like that. If he was, I might have to sic Trixie on him." The serious glint in her eye betrayed the teasing smile on her lips.

Lizzy couldn't help smiling along with her friend; it made her happy to see Tess so excited! Looking thoughtful, she paused, tapping a finger on her chin before her eyes widened slightly, as if she had just thought of something, "How about a gift then - a thank you gift? All the better if you make it yourself - I'm sure he'll be delighted even if its only a card if its made by you!" She finished with a nod and a grin, wondering what Tess thought of her suggestion.
"Yup! It does!" Her attention turned to the screen once again; she was glad Tess didn't think badly of her for liking video games... Her mother had always put them in such a bad light!
She chuckled softly, rather moved that the ghoul was looking out for her, "Before Trixie could get to him, I bet Rosenthal would have done something terrible to him already, if he was mean to me." She reassured her with a smile, "Overall, Scarentines was rather enjoyable!"

Tess canted her head in thought. A gift for the gentlemanly monster boil did sound about right. It couldn't be too fancy, otherwise it might seem like she was suggesting other things. But a handmade gift? It sounded like a double-edged sword. One the one hand, it was personal, took effort, meant she put more thought into it than a store-bought gift. On the other, it could be seen as if she was... well... cheap.
"I-I'll give the gift idea some thought. For now, teach me more about these games. I, I think really do like this. I might even get one myself!" She beamed.

"I'll be more than happy to!" She grinned, pointing at the screen to get Tess to focus on that instead, "Just continue with my current game. Unfortunately, this game only comes with one slot for saving the game and I don't want to lose my data..." She smiled sheepishly, but her face soon lit up when Tess mentioned that she might get one too.
"That's great!" She nodded before giggling, "A secret from both our mothers~"
