Helberd had finally convinced his daughter, Aarushi to go on a stroll with him this morning. The mare was as stubborn as ever, and persisted to refuse him whenever he asked. He really had no idea why she hated to be near him so much! She was his daughter, for spirits sake, shouldn't she at least stay close and stay protected? Why couldn't she just listen? One of these days she was going to wander off and get herself hurt. Either way, the male was glad that she had finally agreed to accompany him, now though he had no idea what to talk about. "Isn't it a lovely day today?" He said offhandedly, glancing at the blue sky and feeling the air blow back his mane. As he glance down and to his left, he saw Aarushi just shrug and look away from him. How had he raised such a mare? Sure, he had been upset that he hadn't had a son, but just the same he would have wanted a proper young lady. Suppose it hadn't turned out as such. Oh well, mayhaps he could find her a nice male to settle down with, and then she would be the proper lady he knew that she could be.
Aarushi sighed and watched the birds fly over the tops of the trees. She had only agreed to come out with her father, so that she could hopefully placate his annoying inquiries about joining him on his stroll. The young doe knew that if she went with him then they would have nothing to talk about, and it wasn't like he could fly with her - seeing as he didn't have wings. Virtually, her and her father had nothing in common. She always resented him for being pig-headed, but she knew he still loved her, it was just that, which kept her from getting along with him. He was always telling her things like, "A proper lady wouldn't do that." or "Proper ladies do not stray far from the males.", or perhaps, "Why can't you just be a proper lady?" Aarushi especially hated the last one. Forever with the comments about how she should be proper and get a mate and do what the males say. It was annoying, and she didn't want anything to do with it. IF she ever did get a mate, he better be the one listening to her. Or at least someone she could share responsibility with.
