Ashur was in a mood.
Not a good mood, either. In fact, a pretty bad mood. He had no particular reason to be so grumpy, except for the weather. It was nice outside, sunny and warm with just a slight breeze. Not quite full spring weather yet...but an unseasonably warm breath of air in the late winter, a reprieve from the cold. Granted, Ashur hadn't really experienced much cold, having lived up til now in his mother's womb and the safety of a den.
But, in theory, he knew that it was a wonderful day, and he could only enjoy a part of it. And it made him cranky.
The weather was so nice that the pups were allowed out to play freely, and the little blue-and-cream wolf padded carefully along, feeling out the path ahead of him for patches of ice. He'd stepped on one, once, in the shade, and fallen and slid and hurt himself, and he didn't want to do that again.
Somewhere, a bird called, and his ear flicked. Somewhere else, a bush shook, a branch cracked, and he started, hackles on the rise. "Who's there?" He called, wheeling about towards the sound, lips raised in a snarl, blank eyes staring forward at....who, precisely?

Tahoma walked out into the sunlight, the sun warming his fur. It felt wonderful to go outside and he was excited to play with his siblings. Tahoma spotted Ashur up ahead of him, deciding that he would try to sneak up on him. No easy feat though due to Ashur's great hearing. Slowly and carefully he made his way closer and closer to his brother, once in pouncing distance he moved into position which made he snap a twig. Knowing Ashur probably picked up on the sound, his cover blown, it was time to pounce. Ashur had asked who was there and was obviously in a foul mood, not for long though. Tahoma pounced and landed on his brother in a loud thud. "GOTCHA BRO", Tahoma exclaimed in victory.

"AHH!" Ashur flailed, falling under his brother's greater weight. "Tahoma! Geroff! Geroff!" He squirmed, trying to free himself. Ashur wasn't the smallest of the litter, but he certainly wasn't the largest, and Tahoma definitely had the advantage over him in the wrestling department.
Completely disoriented, he nipped at Tahoma's furry bulk, trying to find a weak spot so he could wriggle free.

Tahoma laughed as he watched Ashur struggle to get free from underneath him. Laughing Tahoma said, "Okay bro I'll get off ya, but you gotta say uncle!." He nipped at his brother's ears playfully as they rolled around on the floor.

What?! Surrender? Ashur didn't surrender!
Well, except when a big oaf of a pup was grinding him down into the half-frozen ground and there was absolutely no escape.
"Uncle, uncle!" Ashur said, panting a little. The slightest bit of a laugh crept up in his throat as his brother nipped his ears -- he couldn't help it, it tickled! "Just you wait, Tahoma, I'm gonna GET you back."
He didn't know how, yet, but he would. He was small, after all, and blind...but he was still quite confident that he'd be able to best even his biggest brother in a fight, if only he knew how.

Tahoma laughed as his brother conceeded defeat. "Oh, really now? How are you planning to get me back little brother?" Nosing his brother affectionatly he got off of Ashur. "So bro how do you like being outside the den, I know mom is a bit protective of you."

Ashur's nose wrinkled as he struggled up to his paws, shaking himself vigorously. "I don't know," he admitted. "But I'll figure something out."
He sighed. "It's nice outside." He wished he could see it. But he didn't say that. It was a pointless thing to say, and it would make mom feel bad if she heard it. "Warm today, too. Except the ground. The ground's still cold." He added this point on with a pointed glare in the general direction of his brother.

Tahoma breathed in deeply, loving the fresh air. Looking over at his brother as he commented about how nice it is, he knew that his brother wished he could see it. It was no secret to Tahoma that his brother still resented his blindness. Tahoma laughed as Ashur pointedly mentioned how cold the ground is. "Ash is it wasn't that bad I mean come on you've still got your thick winter coat". Tahoma would give anything for his brother to see the way he did, even his own sight but that wasn't possible. "Come on bro lets go for a walk"

"Alright," he said, reluctantly. He sighed, lingering behind. "Don't get too far ahead," he said, after a moment of thought. He moved alongside his brother, pressing in closer to him than was probably comfortable for either, but he didn't want to lose track of him. "Where's everybody else at?"

Tahoma let his brother walk next to him almost touching his flank, he was used to it. Ashur had been doing it for as long as he could remember. "Don't worry Ash, I won't leave you behind." Tahoma playfully bumped Ashur's hip as they walked.
"I have no idea where they are, you'd think our sister would have been out here looking for us huh" Tahoma took them along a forest path he knew lead down to the lake.

"Or any of the rest," he murmured. In truth, he wasn't really close to any of the rest of his siblings. Such a large litter, it was inevitable that they would break off into cliques. As much as he complained about Tahoma's presence, he knew he would be thoroughly lost without the strength of his larger brother. "Oh well. Where are we going, anyway?"
Not that it mattered, really. It's not like he was out sight-seeing. Hah.

"Yea we'll you know how our siblings are, they have their own little groups. But were the coolest right" he laughed and nudged Ashur. He continued down the path they were on as Ashur asked him where they were heading to. "Nowhere really bro, just walking. Where do you feel like going? I was thinking that maybe we could go to the creek or the clearing."

He grinned. His smiles were always funny, lopsided things, having never seen a smile to emulate. "Of course we are." He paused, just a moment, sniffing the sky, and his brow furrowed. "...let's go to the clearing," he said, a sudden idea bursting into his head. "I want to try a new game."

"Okay! Can you tell me what kind of game it is?" He bounded forward excitedly before walking next to his brother again and steering them into the direction of the clearing. "Your games are always fun!"

"Let's play....a learning sort of game," Ashur said, contemplatively, stopping in alarm when Tahoma left his side, then pressing himself in close to his brother as he padded his way forward. "To practice finding things. I don't want to need a bell like Mom."
He stopped, feeling the air around him become freer, the breeze more clear, and sniffed. The trees seemed to have widened up, he thought, so he sat down, figuring he must be in the clearing.
"I want you to make noise, and I'll guess where you are and what you're doing."
