He had been wondering for days without anything to eat or drink. It was time for the spotted stallion to take a break. It wasn’t something he normally did, but he was feeling so famished that if he went on any longer he probably would collapse on the ground for the vultures to eat. He walked slowly over to the stream. His feet dragging slightly and his head lowering like it was about to just make contact with the ground. When he was close enough to the stream, he collapsed. His weight fell to the ground with a heavy thud. He was so tired. So utterly tired of doing the same thing every day. Searching was turning into the only vocabulary word he knew.

Taking a few large gulps of the water, he laid on his side. This was different for him. He never stopped to take a look at the beauty around him. He wasn’t that kind of stallion. He gave a agitated snort as he lifted himself back up onto his feet. He was ready to keep going. He didn’t want to lay down and think all day. He really didn’t. It wasn’t something he would do normally and wasn’t going to start now. He pushed onward feeling his stomach growl, but ignored it. He learned how to do a lot of things in life and weaknesses were one of them.

Dimitri slipped through the trees silently, a specter in the gloom. The only thing that gave him away as something more than a shadow was the majestic sun mask her wore proudly on his head. Having no particular destination, he was simply enjoying the journey, thinking of everything and nothing all at once. In the distance he heard the babbling of a small stream and instinctively traveled towards it, ears perked for any other sound. Though it was not a sound that alerted him of foreign company, but the scent of an unknown stallion on the wind. With a twitch of his nose, Dimi continued to trot along, not particularly caring if his path intersected with this new male or not. Nevertheless, a few moments later and he stepped out from the cover of the trees, the stream slipping by before him and a large, spotted stallion off to his side.

At first, Dimitri mistook him for an elder, due to his massive size, but then simply accredited it to a possible draft heritage. This male did not have the air of an elder. The mask on Dimi's face completely shielded his eyes, making them impossible for the uni-kirin to see, so Dimi looked him over freely. He wondered if, possibly, this male was part of his old herd, which was full of mask-wearing soq, but did not really care due to the... rocky... relationship he had with said herd. After a few moments, Dimitri noticed how tired the stallion seemed and became curious- was he chasing something or being chased...?

The spotted stallion turned his head to the sound of footsteps. He always had a keen sense of hearing. It was due to his intense training as a child then as an adult. He saw the oddly masked and clothes stallion making him tilt his head a little bit. The mask was giving him nightmares already because it was so damn gold. He turned his head and gave a snort looking away from him so that he didn't go blind. "Hello." He said simply to the stallion as he gave a tired yawn. He rose to his feel just as fast and flick his long mane over his shoulder eying the male once again with his nearly white eyes.

There was something about him that reminded him of a caped avenger of some sort. "Are you a super hero or something?" He asked giving a slight snort before turning away again. "I never met a Soq with clothes on before." He said to the stallion as he tilted his head only slightly.

Dimitri nodded at the greeting and replied measuringly, "Good afternoon..." and tilted his head in reply to Gabriel's head-tilt. The stallion before him was quite good looking, Dimitri would give him that. Though he was abnormally large, that probably gave him some sort of charm around the ladies. Then, Dimitri gave a slight snort as he answered Gabrie'ls question, "Super hero? Not particularly... damsels in distress give me a headache." Pausing, Dimitri pondered for a moment what to say next. He had never particularly gotten along with stallions, but that was not reason not to try...

"So then... your mask is... an ox, if I'm guessing correctly... amazing it fits. Usually a Soq's head doesn't get big enough... Would you happen to be part draft?" Dimitri was truly curious as to how the male had gotten his mask, and how he had gotten big enough to wear it.

Gabriel heard his words and actually didn't mind them. He actually gave this stallion a few good points because he thought the same way he did so far. Weak females pissed him off and it was known that if he had to save one...he would just leave her to die. "I see. That is good then. I don't like those kind of female's myself. They make me want to just watch them squeal and cry sometimes. Eh, but to each their own." He nodded to him hearing him question his mask. Did he really want to tell that story? It wasn't like he killed a big ox to get it. It was a right of passage at birth more or less. Something every male and female born into the family received. Their personality grew in and with the mask. It shaped them.

"It is. No I'm not part draft at all. I'm uni and kirin mixed. There use to be Cerynei in my family, but I doubt I have any left in my blood. Why do you ask?" He tilted his head at the stallion not minding the questions so far, but he would see where it went.

((XD It sounds like Dimi and Gabriel came from the same herd... Is it anything like what is mentioned in Dimi's background...? ))

Dimitri frowned slightly, though the expression went unseen. Certainly, he disliked females that always needed taking care of, but he would help someone if it were necessary. He wasn't heartless, but he wasn't a knight in shining armor either. When he replied, he made sure his voice was as emotionless as possible, "Yes... to each their own... no sense in trying to change people, a waste of energy really."

He nodded as he listened to Gabriel's explanation, that was a potent mix of blood right there. "I confess, I tend to be curious of other masked Soquili... since I grew up in a herd full of them. What an interesting mix. My mother was part uni, always wore a moon mask..." Pausing he wondered what else they could talk about. So strange, he never ran out of things to say around mares, but around stallions? What was there to talk about, really... "So... what brings you to around these parts?" ... he was terrible at small talk...

(( It sounds it, but it's pretty impossible since the family is really close color wise. xD But after reading the background it really isn't to similar. Maybe some parts, but not a lot of it. ))

The bigger stallion gave a slow nod to the other as if trying to say he agreed with him. Depending on his mood or question Gabriel could be really short with words or he could tell a whole two days worth story. It just depended on what was going on really. "I see. I don't tend to be curious of anyone else. It's just pointless in my eyes. Everyone is just a face to me anyway. I don't really linger around to get to know anyone unless by chance." He shrugged and looked away from him. Did he really feel like mentioning his long family line? Not really, but he supposed some of it wouldn't hurt. "Mostly everyone in my family is masked. We wear different animal skulls, but the reasoning behind it is something I'm not allowed to tell you. It's forbidden to the likes of anyone outside of the family." He gave a firm nod before looking away from him a bit. "I am trying to find someone that is all. Well two Soq actually. What about you?" He asked right back and wasn't really good at small talk either. It bored him.

(( ^_^ Oh good.... *chuckles* Would've been funny/complicated if they were distantly related... XD This is much more simple... ))

Dimitri nodded in return to Gabriel's comment. It was true, there wasn't much to say. He could be playful and witty if the conversation called for such, but this one was so bland he wasn't sure what to do with it. At the comment on curiosity he replied back almost out of habit, "Alas, curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back..." He paused and shrugged, "Though I know what it is like to be compelled not to talk about family things... I will not ask then."

Looking around himself curiously, he tried to discern where he even was. As a wanderer, he often didn't really pay attention to where he was going, just that he was going somewhere. He didn't often go on quests either, though it seemed that his male really wanted to find whoever he was looking for, to have pushed himself so hard. With a bored sigh he replied, "Me? I just wander, hoping perhaps that something interesting will happen. Had a run in with a skinwalker not too long ago, but that's about as exciting as it gets around here... perhaps I'll head towards the ocean. I really hate being bored."

(( xD It would of been. owo ))

The spotted stallion tilting his head and raising his brow. He didn't care for witty remarks. He wasn't the type that made them, but he understood them. He just was stiff. There wasn't much else to say about it really. "It's not that anything bad happened just we aren't allowed to discuss it with outsiders. It's against the rules and the codes if you understand what I mean." He nodded to him a bit before flicking his long mane over his other shoulder. It always irritated if it remained sitting on one spot for too long. He perked his ears up at the mention of a skinwalker. Now that was a topic of interest for him. The bloodthirsty killers that he found were very intriguing. Also taboo in the family, but he didn't care. They interested more then anything else in the world.

"A skinwalker you say? Did you two battle or did you run away like a chicken?" He asked him glaring slightly and wondering how the other was going to take his insult. "I personally love to spar. It's what I do best and very entertaining if you spar enough. But you honestly don't look that type. Maybe it's because of your clothes or that sun covering your face." He said to him turning away and snorting digging his hoof into the ground again.

Dimitri nodded, "Yes, yes... I get what you mean. I am not the kind to pry, so fear not for your secrets." And he truly wasn't. Dimitri hated it when people asked him about his mask or why he wouldn't take it off- that was his business and no one else's.

But then Gabriel seemed to perk as they finally hit a conversational topic of interest. However, at Gabriel's taunt Dimitri tossed his head and laughed, "I could not run like a chicken if I tried, I have four legs whereas a chicken has two. And I agree, I may not look like a brawler but I will fight for a cause and I will fight when necessary. Funnily enough, I don't often have to go looking for a fight since they tend to follow my honest tongue. Soq hate hearing the truth if it isn't what they want to hear. And as it were, my mask makes up for my lack of horns, if you catch my drift."

He paused slightly for dramatic effect before continuing the conversation on skinwalkers, "To tell the dead honest true, I got in a scrap with a skinwalker and lost. Gave him a bloody nose and broken tail for the trouble, but a foal got in the way and I decided to get the foal out of trouble... So technically, I did end up fleeing, but if I ever see that skinwalker again perhaps we will be able to finish our battle." Looking Gabriel over he nodded, "You look definitely look like a fighter, but brawling isn't just about bulk and strength. What I lack in size and muscle I make up for in speed and wit."

Looking to the stallion, he tilted his head a little bit happy he wasn’t going to pry about his secret family history involving his masks. He didn’t want to tell anyone without his herd mother’s permission. He was loyal and that is where his loyalty would remain.

“Oh really? I think the truth is better then hearing a lie. Why lie to someone? It will only come back and kick you in the a** later. Plus depending on how you word the truth and if you don’t give it to them too harsh…it can really matter to someone. But also it can cause fighting and some get angry from it. I fight every single day and have been that way since I was a foal. There really was nothing I can do about it because it was my father that trained me to be this way.” He said to the other stallion before giving a slight yawn. He never really let his father down. It was a oath he had taken and was something that wasn’t going to happen. Letting his father down would probably be the most devastating thing that could happen.

“Ah I see. That actually makes me disgusted that you hurt a skinwalker. They are one of my favorite breeds next to a kalona. I find them intriguing. I’m sure you have speed and wit, but you must realize that just because someone is bigger doesn’t mean they are slow or stupid.” He said to him stomping his hoof into the ground a little bit.

Dimitri suppressed a chuckle, the stallion certainly had a lot to say, and then yawned as though he were bored. Certainly, if he were bored, he would not have so much to talk about. "Alas, you must understand that you are not the norm. Many a Soq will not like hearing the truth. Obviously, honesty is the best policy, but it is worthless if it falls upon deaf ears."

Shrugging he continued, "And as much as one might admire skinwalkers, if it is between my life and theirs, I would rather keep mine. Personally, I don't care much for the two breeds you mentioned- they tend to always be angry about something and it gets so boring and predictable." Dimitri paused at Gabriel's angry response- he knew insulting this male would have been somehow inevitable. He seemed to be itching for a fight, as if that was his only point in life. Well, Dimi certainly would not be the one to start the brawl if there were to even be one.

"Ah, I never discounted the speed and wit of those bigger than me, but every fighter has their strengths. While someone with great strength may also be cunning and agile, their major advantage will be their strength. On top of that, every fighter has a weakness."

(( Ummm.. xD I don't know how rolled dice fights work. So..yeah. Unless you do? ))

He gave a nod towards the other stallion thinking he spoke truthfully about the truth. "Your right and I'm learning that most around here are deaf. They don't seem to understand that no means no and yes means yes." He said simply giving a snort of disapproval towards the whole talk since it was making him remember things.

"Ah I see. At least you know where your morals are." He said to him and growled a little under his breath when he mentioned he didn't like either of the breeds. That bothered him and he honestly felt angry from it. They were two breeds he felt the closest with and honestly....he felt even more pain that the stallion didn't care much for Kalona's. That pissed him off. He gave a stomp into the mud beneath them before moving closer to the other stallion testing how big he was to him. He always towered over most the Soq around. It was just how big he was and how menacing he looked.

"Your right, but not everyone has a noticeable weakness."

He growled out before pushing against the other stallion in annoyance. He felt like the other was looking for a fight and he wasn't going to back down. Though he probably should since it would only get him hurt again for the hundredth time.

((Rolling for who wins--- If 1 -> Gabriel wins ; If 2 -> Dimitri wins.

Result: 1 - Gabriel wins in the end!))

Dimi quirked an eyebrow under his mask and refused to tilt his head up to look at Gabriel as he came closer. The mix-breed male was only a bit larger than Dimi, but enough that Dimitri had to look up a bit to look Gabriel in the eye. He turned his head slightly, the shadows of his mask ever-blocking his eyes from view, about to reply when Gabriel shoved him. With a snort, the black stallion grumbled, "What the heck was that for?"

Shimmying to the side a bit, Dimitri pawed the ground, "I don't like getting pushed around. Do you intend to inform me what we are about to brawl over or should I just assumed you are hot-blooded?"

Gabriel tilted his head as he looked to Dimitri with a half smirk as he flicked his tail moving slightly away from him. He always was looking for a good fight, but was this something he really wanted to do at the moment? Did he really want to get all roughed up over something so stupid? He had fought over much more dumb stuff then this.

“I am hot-blooded, but I thought you liked battle? Is this something you want to do? Fight over something so petty and stupid? Battle it out and run the risk of getting injured over stupid words? It’s not like you’re my enemy.”

He told him in a sincere voice before eyeing his movements some more. He was wondering if he wanted to attack or not. The only reason he didn’t want to was because he was a little tired and it might make him run the risk of being hurt. Did he want that?

“I don’t want to fight you. Honestly I really don’t….maybe just maybe….we can spar and then whoever wins they decide if the other is worthy enough to be a friend or ally depending on how they fight?”

He asked him curiously as he tilted his head slightly before charging at him without warning and smashing into Dimitri’s shoulder.
