You all are probably going to hate me for putting this here, but I figured to toss it up to maybe spice things up, and to at least add a little more to the main forum so that anyone and everyone can be a part of this.
This contest is for anyone to try out - it's not just for professionals. Amateurs can enter too if they want. Everyone has a chance to be a winner, but you just have to try.
Deadline: April 17th
1st Place: 30k
2nd Place: 15k
3rd Place: 5k
These prizes are all coming out of my own pocket, so no worries to the guild bank.
What am I to do?
This contest is for you to explore your area. Think of it... kind of like a scavenger hunt, of some sort. Using a maximum of three photographs (again, don't have to be professional), explain through them, what a normal day is like, in the life of your area.
What are the rules?
- Three photographs maximum, one photograph minimum.
- The pictures together MUST be somehow relevant to a normal day in your area. Pictures of your home (your computer, etc.) is NOT allowed. You must go out and into the wilds of society to accomplish this.
- People are not allowed as the focus of the picture. You cannot take a picture of your family or friends, unless they are somehow relevant to the life of your entire area. (People can be in the photograph, but the photograph can't be about them.)
- No text is allowed. This is about communicating with imagery.
- You may replace previous submissions.
Can you explain further?
If I was to take pictures of Chicago to express the daily life, I have a number of possibilities. I could take pictures of things that happen in the morning (such as one of the many public art sculptures, covered in morning dew, or something, or the morning commute on I-90), and then something in the afternoon (such as one of the large number of tourist traps, surrounded by a hundred people all taking photographs as well), and then something at night (such as fireworks off of Navy Pier).
If I was at Charleston, where my school is located, I could take pictures of the lake, Old Main, and the downtown district.

hmm...A challenge from the apprintas....i like it!
I shall try it too...but my photographs wont count in the contest...im just gonna do it for fun...xD

And if you don't want it to count in the contest, that's fine with me. I'll keep it in mind. (Though if you end up being the only participant by April 17th, you'll win by default.)
